  4. if the rebels lose this series, how much trouble are they in? they would be sitting at 2-4 or 1-5 if they lose this series to ravenwood with series left against brentwood and centennial. if they lose the series, i would say they are finished in the race for the top seed and automatic region spot heading into the tournament.

  7. looks like Page is proving me right again, lots of talent but they always seem to have something go wrong and never play up to their potential. no excuses for being swept by a first year school in district play who are playing only freshmen and sophomores. district standing: Spring Hill 2-0 Summitt 2-0 Marshall Co. 2-0 Fairview 0-0 Lewis Co. 0-2 Page 0-2 Giles Co. 0-2

  12. So Farragut won 1 state championship when all schools played together prior to 1998 and CB won 5. Since Farragut didnt have to compete against the privates to win 7 of their 8 championships, i give the edge to CB as the best program in state history.
  13. I may be mistaken, but i thought the Page-Centennial scrimmage ended 13-13 in 11 innings. I wouldn't read too much into this either. I heard from some people who were at the game that Centennial did not pitch anyone who will be a varsity pitcher this year. I also heard that it was 7-2 in Centennial's favor when they started to take out the varsity position players. Page didn't play well on defense, which could be a problem in this district with teams that usually put the ball in play like GC, SH, and MC. Their pitching is average. They do however hit the ball pretty good and will try to steal bases all night long but I don't think they will win against the top teams because of a lack of good pitching and their poor defense.
  14. how many titles has farragut won since the division I and II split (1998)? I know Chirsitan Brothers won some before the split and they played as a AAA school when they did that.
  15. any one played any scrimmages yet? if so, what are the teams looking like?
  16. Page has to prove it can win before I pick them to finish higher than 4th. They have had some really talented teams the last few years, but some how they mess it up. look at last year, no excuse for losing to Fairview in the district tournament the way they did. I think it was 11 or 12 to 0.
  17. i do not claim to be an expert, but i have bene around TN high school sports long enough to know what goes on in some cases. it is no secret CPA, and every other private school, do things to get around the recruitment rule. one player's family makes a monetary gift to another player's family which that family in turn uses to pay tuition (see Mason at CPA a few years ago). if was a gift, the school was not involved so to say, and a family can use a gift for anything, including tuition so it is ok as long as the coach or school did not give the money to to the player. it happens other places as well, just not CPA. it is also no secret parents are offered employment so their child can attend for free or at a discount and they just happen to be a superstar athlete. no way to say legally that no you cannot hire a parent at a school just because their kid plays sports. the best example of this although it is not a private school is Shelbyville in their hay day with Insell as coach. Miraclouslly his best AAU players always seemed to end up moving to an apartment complex he owned in Shelbyville, get a job for a business his son ran, and it was mere circumstance this happened. Insell got smart and moved on to the level where he can recruit legally and it shows with the talent he gets at MTSU because of his years of practice at Shelbyville. this is not a problem limited to private schools, it happens everywhere. even in Williamson County. A kid will purposely pick a program of studies that is not offered at their zoned school, so they get to attend the school that has their program. Why do you think Franklin High is the only one in that county that offers culinary arts, the IB program, automotive classes? fact of the matter is these things happen whether the school is public or private. until the TSSAA decides to enforce the rules in every case and enforce them equally, schools and coaches will continue to make efforts to get around the rules.
  18. Spring Hill Marshall County Hickman County Giles County Hickman County Fairview Page Lewis County Summit East Hickman Teams with the most pitching will win this year. We will not see so mnay thre run bombs with the new bats so it will be hard to hide the fact you have no pitching.
  19. I agree with that most private schools make it to the A-AA state tournament. That was one of my points I was trying to make. As far as the travel, there are plenty of teams already traveling 2+ hours for district games as it is now. In district 10, you have Waverly who must travel to play teams in Robertson County, in district 11 teams like Page and Summit have to go to Huntland and in dsitrict 12 teams like Fairview and Spring Hill have to go to Wayne Co and vice versa. The TSSAA says they groupd teams in districts to reduce travel, but there is always going to be teams who have to travel long distances to play.
  20. Not sure where you get your information, but if you look at the Greeneville City school website, there is no mention of tutition they charge. If you are talking about money they charge if you live out of the school system that is different than charging thousands of dollars for the right to go to that school. It also doesnt involved recruiting either. I am trying to follow your logic here, but need some help. According to you, if Notre Dame doesn't charge as much for tuition or have families as rich as those of GPS or Baylor, they should get to play with public schools who they can outspend on players (I'm sorry, for students since they don't choose their soccer players). I don't see how that is fair to the public schools just like you say it would not be fair to Notre Dame if they cannot raise money like the other private schools.
  21. It can be plain black and white. If TSSAA would say if you charge tuition, you are in the private division, if you do not you are in the public division. The case with Greenvill and Alcoa is they are open enrolled, but you have to live in the county to pick the school. Most private schools have kids from all over the area and from outside their city or county. In the CSAS case with charter schools, use the same rule. I always thought the 1.8 multiplier was the dumbest thing ever. I never understood how making a school's enrollment large by multipling it had anything to do with the fact that the school can go out and get anyone it wants to come to their school. If you took a public school and multipled its enrollment by 1.8 would it change who was enrolled in the school. No. All the multiplier did was allow private schools who choose their players to play against slightly bigger schools who cannot choose their players.
  22. You do bring up an interestnig point. I have always been a huge fan of the idea of all prviate schools should be in one division regardless if they "offer" aid to players and all public schools in one division. This would even things out a little since public schools cannot choose who attends their schools like private schools can.
  23. I was day dreaming this week and thought I would pose this question to everyone. The 2012-2013 school year is the last in the current classicifaction period for the TSSAA. What do you think will happen when they come out with the new four year plan that will begin with the 2013-14 school year? I personally would like to see girls soccer spilt into 3 classes like volleyball did on the last classification cycle. The TSSAA people said the reason it didn't happen for soccer the last time was the lack of enough small schools to form a Class A group. In the last four years there have been many schools who have offered girls soccer who previously did not offer it. If you look at District 10 for example, they have 13 teams that fielded a team this year. District 12 fielded 10 teams this season, District 3 had 9 teams, District 4 had 12, District 9 had 9 teams, District 14 had 10 teams and. I also know some districts like the ones from the Memphis area do not have very many teams and just play a region tournament. If they spilt into 3 classes, how do you all see it affecting the powerhouses like ND, CPA, CCS and CAK? Some would drop to class A and others would be in class AA. what do you think the competition at the state tournmanet would look like in a three class system?
  24. Does any one know when the tennessee sports writers will release their all-state team?
