  1. My thoughts exactly. George can be a little gruff at times but I would be surprised to find out that he made that type of comment. It sounds like one of those hearsay situations.
  2. Good comments from the Shelbyville fans. Twilley and Stewart are as good a guard tandem as I have seen. Both made incredible shots under pressure. BA led most of the game but Twilley and Stewart kept Shelbyville within striking range at the end. Shelbyville will definitely be in the hunt for a AAA state tournament berth.
  3. All of the BA championships are before the split. BA, MBA, CBHS and MUS have historically held their own with the big boys. Even in a "down" year for BA, they still handed Ravenwood (likely 5A finalist) their only loss of the year. You get no argument from me that DII championships have less cachet than in the pre-split years. Unfortunately, we didn't ask for this scenario. In general, Tennessee has way too many championships.
  4. We'll find out on February 11 when the two teams go head to head. Brandan scores what it takes for the team to win. BA has a very disciplined and balanced offense with a number of weapons. However, Brandan can (and has on occasions) put up 30. With BA's offense and Brandan's unselfish nature, he doesn't need to score 30 for BA to win. His shot blocking and rebounding more than offset the need to score 30 a game.
  5. BA over Antioch by 7 or 8. BA was playing with 8 players (3 starters and 5 JV players). Antioch appears to have some potential. I believe that they are a young team with a lot of sophomores. Antioch had very good guard play and #15 kept them in the game with lights out shooting. Antioch's inside game was not very impressive.
  6. The game is at Antioch. I am not sure if any other teams are participating.
  7. Brentwood Academy and Antioch have a scrimmage game set for Saturday, Nov 12. BA will have Brandan Wright and Josh Bone with JV players. The other 3 starters and key men off the bench (Garrett, Brian Wright, Brown, Kottas, Beasley) are still playing football.

    DII MIDDLE

No offense, but Langhi is not in the same hemisphere as Brandan. He played in a JV game against BA last year. He has potential but the Langhi/Wright match-up will continue to be one-sided. I'm not sure that Ryan will be able to replace the offense provided by Dylan Heim last year. I agree with Itzme regarding Ryan getting the second slot in DII Middle. BGA continues on a downward slide and MBA has no one to help Deon Gaines.
  9. BA has had some low moments this season but the ironic twist may well be that it is the year Coach Flatt gets his elusive 10th Gold ball. Friday's game should be a defensive struggle but I believe the Eagles will put basketball season on hold for another few weeks. BA 14 - CBHS 10
  10. I believe that you are dead on about BA. Someone will need to step forward and provide the emotional leadership shown by Mason Revelette last year. I will disagree with you regarding Barry Turner. He had the unfortunate tendency to be a distraction with his attitude (at times). Brandan and Josh provide quiet leadership but no one has emerged to fill Mason's shoes. This year's ambitious schedule will provide BA with the opportunity to shine but could also provide some trying times.
  11. He has been participating in practice so I presume he will be ready on Friday. I'm not sure you could say he will be 100%.
  12. It is apparently in the works. BA had a school scheduled that needed to drop the game. I have not heard anything about the possible TV coverage. BA also has Mitchell and Ridgeway on the schedule. This will definitely answer the question about whether BA has the ability to play with the top Memphis schools.
  13. He would not have started but most likely would have made a valuable contribution.
  14. Nate is a great kid and an excellent prospect. However, he never appeared in a varsity game at BA (due to eligibility restrictions from his original transfer from Zion). For that reason, he was able to transfer back to Zion.
  15. BA 42-21 BA dominated the game. Briarcrest had a late score.
  16. It would help if you would read the post in its entirety. I said that I have most of the facts which means that I don't feel comfortable rendering (or disclosing partial information) an opinion about who is or is not at fault. You however feel empowered to render an opinion with no facts. I spend most of my work day reading, interpreting and implementing contractual language and know how subjective interpretations can be. Regardless, you obviously have no interest in the facts otherwise you would not be so quick to judge BA. You have demonstrated on other threads your bias against BA, MBA, etc. Quite honestly, this is to some extent about the citizenship of BA or any other group of people that have been blessed. If TSSAA made the decision with the best of intentions then I have no problem. However, that may or may not be the case. There is more than a little historical basis for the possibility that politics may have played at least a partial role in the decision. I would hope that at some point you would receive enlightenment (as requested) but I could care less whether you feel that this is bull.
  17. You have absolutely no knowledge of the facts and circumstances of this case and yet you feel compelled to take the opportunity to once again take a shot at BA. For you to call either administration ignorant or incompetent is completely uncalled for. Whether the TSSAA, BA or Chicago Hope is at fault is still to be determined. I am aware of most of the facts of the case and will be priviledged to have four of the young men spend the night in my home. Many of the rules and regs of the TSSAA are subject to interpretation and many schools within the organization have been negatively impacted by an interpretation made in good faith and with prior "initial approval" of the TSSAA. I am not going to go as far as to suggest that Ronnie Carter made a point to "stick it to BA". However, to assume that politics did not play a role in the decision is a little naive. Regardless, this is not and should not be about BA. This was an attempt by BA to do something nice for these kids to give back to the community. Many individuals on this Board find it so easy to take shots at BA without any idea of the good that the students, parents and administration do behind the scenes. Go talk to the Principal and Teachers at Kirkpatrick Elementary in housing projects not far from the Stadium about the impact that BA parents and students have had on the lives of those children. It is considered the most "at risk" school in the State of Tennessee.
  18. Ole Dad has shown his ignorance on other threads (I refer him back to his lack of knowledge and research regarding BA and MBA state championships in the discussion of the new coach at FRHS), it appears that he has not learned his lesson.
  19. Try reading the first post on the thread smart mouth. The point of the game was to benefit a group of inner city kids from Chicago. BA had nothing to gain from the event.
  20. I don't disagree from the 3 but to not be able to punch the ball in from the 1/2 yard line is a little difficult to explain. Unless my eyes totally deceived me, we didn't use that one big horse in our arsenal from the 1/2 yard line.
  21. After viewing the current MUS team first hand, I don't see any drop off from last year. The quarterback and receivers are excellent. The defense is disciplined and quick (particularly the secondary). The run defense may not be quite as good as last year. All that being said, if they continue to play error free football, then they will coast to the gold ball.
  22. My original post was not very clear, the interception was made inside the 5. I was not trying to say that the line of scrimmage was inside the five. The ball was thrown from the 30 or 35. At the time, BA was moving the ball very well on the ground and took a shot at the endzone that did not work so well. The interception in the endzone also came at the end of a good drive. You are correct that the other scoring opportunity came as a result of the low snap. Regardless, BA had the opportunity to make this game 21-14 and couldn't get the job done. The offense has to be able to punch the ball into the endzone from inside the five and BA failed on two different offensive series. None of this is to say BA is the better team. Also, having seen both McCallieand MUS play, There is no question in my mind that MUS is the top team in D-II.
  23. Impressive win by MUS. However, BA had the opportunities but could find the endzone on two separate drives from the 1/2 yard line and 3 yard line. The drive to open the game ended with an interception inside the five. The score is a bit deceiving. No question that MUS is is the best team in D-II and one of the top five in TN (overall). If you can't punch the ball into the endzone with one of the best offensive tackles in the state to guide the way, then you can't expect to win.
