  1. Anyone have any input on what the message was? What does he expect of the kids, community, etc? I was out of town and unable to attend but I am interested in knowing the plan.
  2. Please end this conversation on this thread if it doesn't have anything to do with the Lebanon coaching search or the new hire.
  3. You make an interesting point, maybe the Principal is the problem... How have all the new hires panned out?
  4. The community expects a winner but does not put forth the effort in building a winner. They are all stuck in th 80's and 90's and think Coach Medley is the only person capable of winning at LHS. It is going to take an entire community effort, including accountability from the administration, staff, youth leagues, middle schools, parents, and the players. Until Lebanon wakes up and joins the rest of the world in 2012, all the new families who move to Wilson County are going to move into WCHS and MJHS districts. If they choose not to, then they are going to have to rely on talent that only comes around once every 3-5 years. There have been very talented classes in LHS history, the problem is having two or 3 classes combine for a team, or to replace a large graduating class. Right now there is no reason for a family to move to Lebanon over Mount Juliet, and there has been no reason for talented athletes not to accept scholarship at prestigious private schools. With Friendship going DII, it will be harder to keep kids in the school. LHS needs a culture changer that is not afraid to go into the community and get support and hold parents and alumni accountable for their program. Right now, the community expects a winner before they are willing to show up and support the team. To me, that is putting the cart before the horse, but it will take a leader to prove to everyone that is what it will take. And if I ever hear that it "takes a couple years to implement a high school offense" I might throw up. This is high school football. It's not complicated. Get the big guys to stand in the way of the other team's big guys and hand/throw the ball to the fastest kids. How ever they decide to it is up to them, but it's not rocket science and should not be over-complicated by some bogus "system". I hope the people who make the decisions do their research on the candidates and not just play the name game or not just hire some Cumberland assistant or go after another a Medley disciple. There are talented motivated coaches out there with HC experience that would be willing to do what it takes to build a program, the administration will actually search for that person. Making another lazy hire will only set the program back farther than the previous hire did. Good Luck. Go Blue Devils.
  5. I agree Eddie. That was my point in saying that they need to hire (or at least look) outside the county in order to find a coach with the proper credentials. I heard rumors of a guy from North Carolina and one from Kentucky both with HC experience. And also several assistants from Rutherford County and previous assistants with ties to LHS. I wonder what the time table is? I think the kids probably need some direction at this point in the year. Is there an interim HC keeping them in line?
  6. Your paw paw was a smart man. Hope you are right and they hire an adequate replacement, but doubt there are many folks willing to work as hard as BB. Will take a lot to impress or convince me. I will be skeptical until I see it. You think they are looking for someone to be the players' best friend or someone to be a disciplinarian?
  7. Who are leading candidates to replace Bobby Brown as LHS (Lebanon) head coach. I have been out of the high school loop for quite a while, but feel like Coach Brown was given the exit a couple years too early. Anyone know who the candidates are? Bobby was a hard worker and a good man, but I guess the feeling was that the program needed a change. In order to validate the firing, they need to perform an adequate search and don't need to hire within the program or the county. Otherwise, it was all done in waste.
  8. in my experiences, cookeville always gives us fits, so i am fairly worried about this game. Lebanon is always ahead of Cookeville in athletic ability, but somehow we can find ways to lose. I think this team is different this year than any in the past. they are poised and confident and play like winners. you cannot teach that. if cookeville has a strong running game, then i believe it will be shut down by lebanon's strong run D. none of those guys play offense so they are all rested every series. they will have to do it throuh the air, but lebanon has also shut down brentwood's passing O, but could not control rod wilkes of Smyrna. i hope this is a good one but i believe Lebanon on top. Lebanon 17 - cookeville 10
  9. what about the mcchurch boys? how are they doing and how do they compare to the other star players on the team?
  10. im glad to hear that about miles. what position is he playing and how big is he gettin. he is already alot bigger than his brother...and probably tougher too...haha.
  11. just curious as to who are the best on lebanon's freshman team.. how are those twins running and what about miles dillon?
  12. im gonna go with my fav guy cody tribble...even though he only plays O and also i havent even seen any of the teams play...oh well
  13. what happened to lorenzo b/c i thought he was their best defensive player in the scrimmage. tribble played QB at the first of the season but was moved back to TB im guessing. are we still using the QB roll out to get passes off or is more traditional drop back? are we still throwing about half the time or are we running more now? how is little sallis...yeah its kenny sallis' little brother and kenny is at Cumberland playing WR. how is Ken Walton doing? i also thought he would be a great defensive player.
  14. good game for the devils to get back on track. im proud of yall. carlos gaines (5'6 160 just to clear that up) had a heck of a game it seems like and my boy tribble did pretty well also. no one answered my last post...does lorenzo still play D? who is the QB? i cant come to any of the games so i dont know these things.
  15. i honestly dont know what to think about my devils this year. i saw them in a scrimmage and their D looked great but it seems thats not the case. does lorenzo still play on D? whats the QB situation right now? how is carlos running the ball? i hope they are able to turn the season around soon!
  16. i agree with the last post but i didnt mention them b/c i wasnt really old enough to see or remember any of those games but they def. had some great teams. all i have seen is old high-light films.
  17. im doing well region. im still at school and probably wont make any games this season but ill still be watching on here and getting the scoop from back home. i watched several practices and a scrimmage while i was at home over the summer and leb's D looked pretty tough but the offense struggled quite a bit. our D will depend on how many games we win. tribble the QB is one of the toughest players i have seen play at lhs but he isnt getting to play D this year for injury reasons im guessing but he is a load. i wish them well this season but it could be tough. i dont really know why people give bobby b. such a hard time b/c me and the class of 03 think he is the best thing that happened to our school. no doubt about it. he is a competitor and a winner and turned our program from nothing to something in 1 year. we were picked to only win 1 game our sr. season and beat a very good oakland and blackman team and were one win from 2nd in the region. anyways, i hope u are doing fine as well. good luck to the pats and maybe ya'lls losing strwak could end this year...but i hope not...lol. i think we play yall next week anyways so it could be a good one. tell me how lebanon fares with playing 11 starters on each side of the ball. a new concept in lebanon.
  18. probably not the best record of all the lebanon teams but you would have to be crazy to say that lebanon has ever had as much athletic talent as we did in 2000. the seniors who graduated in 01 consisted of logue, ross, dobson, forrest, miller, martin with jr's lanning, shaffer, jones, white, v. martin, nabors, trice, steelman. definately a stacked team that should have not had to play bradley central 1st round....lost 3 games that year by 7 points or less. go figure.
  19. thanks for the mention of campbell brandon at lebanon, but nowadays i dont know if its much fact. back 99-01 when we had greattalent that place was insane. the kids in school supported those teams a ton and followed them everywhere. the student section was so nuts during the opposing teams' warmups that they couldnt even make layups. we beat some very solid teams: gallatin, oakland, white county, cookeville, riverdale at home b/c of how nuts we were. i wsh the students now cared as much as we did, because campbell brandon had a good tradition going with home wins. we were experts at not just being loud but knowing the opposing players and getting into their heads and actually effecting their performance.
  20. hey you are forgetting about me...im just not as close to know as many details but if i was i would always back up the devils. i even backed up my 4-6 non playoff teams...haha
  21. in my experiences with playing at cookeville...it seems like their grass is substantially longer than any other field we played on. probably because they were always bigger, slower, and more aggressive then most other teams and they wanted to slow us down to their level. dont know if thats the case this year but i dont like that place. ive expressed alot of distaste but not hate for cookeville only because they used to whip us around and i dont know why. i will be at this one even though its not home for us. how good are their DB's this year b/c i remember from about 2000-2003 they were the worst we played...if nothing has chnaged sallis and williams should light it up. i still think it will be a wider gap this week with lebanon winning.
  22. i have been in cookeville on a friday night in a lebanon uniform and came out on the losing end. i never understood how our speed and talent could lose to cookeville but those kids want it bad. i believe lebanon will pull it out, but dont count those cavs out. they used to have the smallest db's and receivers but would still find a way to pull out a win against us. go devils but beware. lhs 35 chs 10 lebanon is clicking
  23. good post... i liked the part about losing to central after going 0-24. im rooting for the wildcats all the time except for when they play lebanon nowadays, but we had a little part in the 24 losses. no hard feelings b/c i want yall to do good i just had to say something. 46-6, 47-0 i think but i might be wrong
  24. yeah now that it is playoff time there is no reason to hold back on offense or defense. if you can score 70, do it. all it will do is make a team respect your offense for the next game. coach brown has the offense clicking right now and its exciting to hear about. if anyone has or hasnt noticed, lebanon was ranked 8th out of all classifications in the tennessean today...cookeville 3rd. thats amazing considering the fact that no one really even likes our team except us. i hope we can play up to the expectations of the news guys. i bet it feels good to the players to actually be respected. anymore news on college looks to lhs or chs players? anyone signed scholarships anywhere? that is one area that lebanon needs to improve on. when i played we had tons of talent and none of our premiere players went to the next level. that needs to change even though lebanon generally doesnt have exceptional size.
