  1. I doubt the fans from Coffee Co. are going to simply stop viewing this board. They love their softball, and add to the discussions on here. Congrads to Coffee Co. on a great season. I knew something had to give with Soddy, Cumberland, and y'all coming out of the same sectional. All 3 programs are quality programs with good kids. 5 teams still in it from Chattanooga - Region 3. AAA Soddy Daisy Cumberland Co. AA (nobody home..... ..) A Boyd Buchanan Div II Girls Prep. School aka,,,,GPS Baylor GPS was going to be my team to root for, but after reading their coach's comments and seeing them play, I am for Cumberland Co., the Cinderella of Cinderella's.
  2. Who won the sectionals in Region 7 & 8?
  3. Ugliest injury I ever saw at a game. Cumberland fell to pieces after that. Best wishes to Ms. Brown, a very talented lady. For those that didn't see the game or only read the box score, Cumberland Co. actually was putting the heat on Soddy, out hitting and out pitching Soddy until the injury. Later that inning, the wheels fell off. All 5 runs unearned. However, good teams like Soddy makes a lot of teams wheels fall off. I'm not ready to give up on the District 5AAA champion just yet. I happen to know Cumberland County has 2 other Club K pitchers, all with ERA's less than 1. We will see what Cumberland is made of playing a good Coffee Co. team. Emotional favorite just because of Ms. Brown. (you are in my prayers sweetie) Cumberland Co. 2 Coffee Co. 0. Somebody post the score tomorrow night and I'll let you all know how the Oakland Soddy game goes, ok? Sorry Coffee Co. I just have to pull for them.
  4. Fastpitch has grown so much that powerhouses of old cannot merely walk to the state before having to play. It used to be pitchers were saved for the "tough games", as Soddy attempted to do last night. It nearly caught up with them. Soddy / Beech / Hendersonville haven't gotten worse, in fact they are very powerfult teams. It's just that the rest got better and quick. To win the state this year (and for years to come) you will have to be good AND lucky. Remember the 1999 National Champion Vols? Good team, but they have had better. What they did was play better than the team they faced each game.
  5. Rossview and Dickson Co. are just that good. They beat Beech and Hendersonville. As far as "A" game, if you don't have it now, you ain't got it.
  6. Top 5, but Goodpasture and Ezell are extremely powerful to the point of beng considered dominate. My opinion.
  7. Dead Toss Up, ought to be a good one.
  8. Stiles was 2 for 5 with 2 SB's.
  9. I was not that surprised. Cleveland played Cumberland Co. hard in their district.
  10. Game time is 6:00pm EDT. There is talk that this game will be played at Camp Jordan. If you can come back tomorrow, I'll give directions. Either way, I-75 south to exit 1.
  11. I am shocked Way to go Rossview and Dickson. Simply amazing what can happen in a elimination round like this was. Congradulations to Beech and Hendersonville on a great season, and a big welcome to the top tier Rossview! You have definitely graduated.
  12. Cumberland Co. in 10 innings.
  13. The action could not have been any better in these regions last night!!! The team listed second was the home team. Region 3AAA Red Bank 0 - Cumberland County 1 in 10 innings. Great pitching and defense throughout. Cleveland 1 - Soddy Daisy 2 in 10 innings. Great pitching and defense throughout as well. Cleveland turned some heads in this one. Cleveland came in to the post season with a losing record. However, most people do not realize that they were without 5 of their starters due to injuries for a majority of the season. They are a tough team, as Soddy found out. Congradualtions to Red Bank and Cleveland for a great season. Next Up: Cumberland Co. @ Soddy Daisy, 2 teams with 41 wins on the season. Something has to give. Region 3AA Walker Valley 0 - East Ridge 3. East Ridge pitcher had it going on last night, throwing a one walk no hitter. The one walk was gunned down at second. Great defense in the infield and some extra bases by East Ridge was too much for the Mustangs. Hixson 2 - Sweetwater 4 Just a fun game to watch. The pitchng was going to get hit. It was a matter of how the defense would react. Both team gave up soem costly errors. However, to my mild surprise, Sweetwater was able to overcome there miscues while Hixson could not. Congradualtions to Hixson on a great season. A special congradualtion to the Lady Mustangs of Walker Valley on their best season to date. Next up: Sweetwater at East Ridge. Region 3A Sale Creek 2 - Boyd Buchanan 5 Sale Creek, the new kids on the block, had the lead in the fourth 2-1, until a single in the fifth broke the tie and BB's Eason jacked a 2 run homer. She already had a triple in the game. Lots of Offense. Grace Academy 10 - Whitwell 9. Despite Grace's 3 errors in the game, they figured out a way to overcome it... as in 13 hits. Both teams slammed the ball all over the park last night. Whitwell was down 10 to 7 in the bottom of th last inning, scored 2, but could find another hit to keep them alive. Both teams surprised me. I thought their pitching was better than that, but every kid has an off-night. Both of these pitchers had theirs at the same time. Congradualtions to Sale Creek and Whitwell on a great season. Next up: Grace Academy at Boyd-Buchanan. Now the predictions: 3AAA Soddy over Cumberland. I've seen both teams play. They both have rock solid pitching, stellar defense, can play small ball, and have hitters throughout the order that can generate the hits on time. Decision goes to Soddy on expereince. 3AA East Ridge over Sweetwater. Now you Sweetwater fans, don't get mad. I went against them last time and looked what happened. East Ridge has a few too many weapons. Sweetwater has team pride. 3A Boyd-Buchanan over Grace. BB has owned this team all season long and in the post season. No brainer? Good, cause I ain't got none. I hope Wedenesday turns out like Monday's games. They don't get much better than these. Way to go girls of Region 3!
  14. E-1, in other words, error on the pitcher. You certainly can give the pitcher a fielding error, although it is not supposed to go against her ERA if a run results from the error. A wild pitch is also an error, but can be scored against the pitcher's ERA.
  15. Never really thought it was. I don't have any preference as to who wins tonight. Just a prediction based upon observations. You all definitely have a chance, especially if your pitcher maintains her accuracy throughout all 7 innings. She's plenty fast enough. Either way, it will be close. Good luck tonight. Your team already has my respect no matter what the outcome.
  16. Del: I have no problem with your post. I have (unfourtunately) seen the same things you are talking about with respect to umpires. However, I wouldn't necessarily lump all umpires from Chattanooga in the same boat. If you know the names of these umpires, please email me. I have several games to umpire in Chattanooga the next few months. (I don't do TSSAA since I work durng the week). I could certainly mention it to the umpires. I have also seen the same things occur with "student sections" (I could name a few but won't). I am sure the Hixson players and coaches are just as embassrassed by the student's behavior. Solution? Don't know that I have any. It sounds as if you have done the right thing in notifyng the principal. I have been to a couple of their games, although not at Hixson. I never heard the players or coaches act in any manner other than that of a spirited team and seem to be maintaining their sportsmanship. The behavior you describe is exactly what I was talking about earlier and it should not be tolerated, from parents, players, coaches, students, or fans.
  17. Hey illpete, you keep right on posting. I enjoy hearing the lowdown on teams up in da hills!
  18. Region 3AAA Redbank (13-17) at Cumberland County (40-3), 6pm EDT My pick, Cumberland County Cleveland (12-18) at Soddy Daisy (40-6) at Frost Stadium, 7pm My pick, Soddy Daisy Region 3AA Walker Valley at East Ridge, 6pm EDT My pick, East Ridge Hixson at Sweetwater, 6pm EDT My pick, Hixson (in a close one). Region 3A Sale Creek at Boyd Buchanan, 5:30 EDT My Pick, Boyd Buchanan Grace Academy at Whitwell My Pick, Whitwell (in a close one). Best of luck to the girls of Region 3, the toughest and most successful fastpich region in Tennessee.
  19. Excuse me doc8. When I saw you post "who in the world" versus "who would be considered their stud"... anyway....... most of my post was directed at wannabe CoachB2002. It just kills me to see parents get on here and talk trash about other teams, especially from someone who has apparently just created an email account to just talk trash. Everything I needed for life I learned in kindergarden, like "if you don't have something nice to say, then don't say it". This certainly hold true when talking about high school sports. These are kids playing a kids game. Some kids take it seriously, and that is fine. When a parent starts taking it seriously, then the potential for trouble begins. Worst of all, when some parents start berating other kids to raise their own child up. I see it constantly. I am an umpire. I have seen the worst of behavior out of parents, sometimes coaches, and rarely players. When I see it out of players, you can usually see immaturity in the way they deal with life. When I see it in coaches, I usually see someone who is selfish and only out for his/her self. It is when I see it in parents that it is most disturbing. Some parents have a difficult time distinguishing the difference between supporting/becoming involved with their child, and becoming an immature crybaby who has no respect for the game, and no time to teach their child humility and the other important aspects this game has to offer. Their outlook is so long as my child is winning, I am winning. This is a receipe for disaster for the family and poisons the best female sport game out there. Sorry for the speech. I love fastpitch and have for years. I see this issue being the number one toxic killer of the love of the game.
  20. I think it will be a Dickson Co. / Beech Region Final. Dickson Co. does not have as strong as pitching as last year, but they do have experience and decent bats in the order. For them, it will be a matter of hits-on-time.
  21. To: self proclaimed CoachB2002 and doc8 You sound like a Marion Co. fan, and by the number of posts you have on this board you are new. Or, you are actually someone from Hixson who thinks they are trying to inspire their team by simulating trash talk. Or maybe a Sweetwater fan, although I have always found them to be good sports. Neither of which reasons for your posting belongs here. If you want to talk about fastpitch, or want to discuss teams, that is fine. However, it appears Hixson has earned a spot to play in one of the toughest regions around by finishing runner up in a tough district. I'm no Hixson fan, but they and their players (who still are kids by the way) deserve a little respect, and do not deserve to be talked about by an adult who appears to be living their own athletic dream through other children. My montra is my signature. This game isn't about you. Get over it. Good Luck to both Hixson and East Ridge. My prediction is that they will see each other on Wednesday once again.
  22. It is actually Jeff. Co. 1st and Mor. East 2nd.
  23. Cumberland Co. Wins District 5AAA, Cleveland Runner-Up Soddy Daisy Wins District 6AAA, Red Bank Runner Up. So Red Bank travels to Cumberland Co.
