  1. JP is the top Sr. in the state, he's close to being a McDonald's All-American.
  2. B Wright, Wayne Chism at Bolivar, Pierre Niles plays center at Ridgeway.
  3. Niles is at adidas. I thought the Delks were at Reebok. Willie Kemp, Jay Watkins and Shawne Williams are at Reebok ABCD. Niles, Mason, Jr. and Jeremy Williams are at adidas.
  4. Idlewild also won a 15-under national title and was a final 4 at 16's, they made the elite 8 in Vegas at the Big-Time after winning the Pump N Run April tournament. Year in and year out it would have been difficult for the Travelers to dominate like Mercer's group did.
  5. But your team didn't beat them, and you had 2 Memphis players on your team.
  6. You could move the tournament to Siberia, the best players are still from Memphis. Surely your not suggesting that your last years team was as good as the national champions.
  7. I can't remember the last time a Memphis team didn't win the 17-under state.
  8. Big Y beat the Bulldogs by 18. Mid-State finshed 3rd.
  9. I've suggested to HS coaches for over 15 years to get someone to run an in-house AAU program, keep your middle school, Fr. and varsity together, let them play AAU ball in their respective ages, travel to Bob Gibbons or Houston, for that matter locally (in-state) there's plenty of competition, by doing this you will make your program stronger at the same time give your players additional travel and exposure. Only one tried, he gave it up, get this, because he wasn't getting paid for his time. I don't know of 1 AAU coach who gets paid for his time, it's a labor of love.
  10. It's wrong to blanketly throw all AAU or HS coaches in a pool as not teaching fundamentals, some HS coaches don't teach as much as we do in the summer, some obviously run more sophisticated stuff, offensively and defensively. On a national level quite a few AAU coaches are current or ex HS/college coaches. Using your rational on coaches interest being tied to a shoe company, if that's the case you would think a coach would do everything in his power to make the player better so as to increase a players worth.
  11. cobra, the Y's 15's were Final 4 as Fr. , they will play nothing but 17's this summer, we are adding 3 or 4 Jrs. to the team.
  12. Herring's not top 10, unless your a Bartlett fan.
  13. We never asked Jamont to play for the Y, would like to add him in with Kemp, Young and Niles for next summer.
  14. 1. Kemp 2. Shawne Williams 3. Thad Young 4. Pierre Niles 5. Rousean Cromwell
  15. We start playing competitive hoops year around at age 9, the day to day comp is better than most areas, making for a strong hoops environment.
  16. Defensively Corey is head and shoulders above Tyler and just about everyone else, he's the reason we won a national title, our 6th by the way.
  17. 06 has to be. B Wright 6'9" Brentwood Acad. Thaddeous Young 6'8" Mitchell Pierre Niles 6'7" Ridgeway Willie Kemp 6'2" Bolivar Wayne Chisum 6'9" Jackson Jay Watkins 6'8" Hamilton Jeremy Williams 6'8" Hamilton Andre Thornton 6'6" Mitchell Brandon Powell 6'3" Mitchell will play High D1 hoops
  18. He's with one of the Globetrotter teams.
  19. The only program that could keep up with the "Travelers of old" is the Memphis Y, the rest are pretenders.
  20. I think my 13-under coach is the best, Keith Easterwood, we won the 13-under state and he also coached his 15-under YOMCA team to a state championship, he teaches us, gets on us and makes the game fun.
