  1. There are several states that actually limit the number of players allowed on a club team to a max of 3 that play together on the same high squads to prevent teams from staying together all year. I don't know if this had made a difference with weakening/strengthening club/high school teams, but it would make life very interesting...it would be hard to find enough club teams that would separate the players.
  2. Is Mrfun an adult or kid...is he really fun? doesn't matter...this is one dead topic and time to put some closure to the subject... Now it's a memory. Enjoy!!!
  3. I agree...if Bearden doesn't come with a little more passion, I'd put Farragut up 3-0 or 4-0...
  4. Well, Seldon, maybe that was the problem...no emotion. There are no excuses...to be quite honest, the guys took the loss well and really didn't have a problem with it...they just really expected to see some really, really great players (from a couple of posts building them up), but the fans and players did not witness the "highly" rated team we expected. Believe me, the toughest opponent we've faced all year was Brentwood (our own district) -- they played at a level of intensity above what we saw at State, first round. I'm really sorry they could not have had a chance at Bearden...I believe Bearden would have been a little miserable after their meeting. I know Bearden has a great area for soccer, but region 6 was awesome as well. Where I come from, "waltz in the park" is a very common saying as well...sorry you only know your own side of the world. Our travel teams from this area will have a chance to see all of the other area players in the state cup...should be interesting!!! What are the clubs that you all play for? Anyone going to the Kentucky games next weekend with ODP from the Bearden/Farragut neck of the woods. Good luck to those teams left remaining.
  5. Excuse me MrFun but who died and made you ruler of the thread! You don't know anything and especially the truth, so this is about Centennial and it's their thread...get your own. ha!!!! Don't worry, we're on to state cup!!!
  6. Who are you??? You can send me an email if you don't want to reveal your identity in this forum. -- Titansfan5...from previous message... ***************** By the way...many (players and parents) revealed your identity...I still love ya!!! Proud of your interest!!!! Soccer's great, isn't it... I love the bantering!!!
  7. Wow, Brock??? You are just mean aren't you? I don't think MEAN people should be allowed on these forums. I guess the funny thing about these forums are they are BIASED...your opinion is yours, but it is BIASED...in fact, everyone seems to come here looking for someone's opinion. Too, bad, if it's not the same as some...they get ugly When you wrap up your high school degree and also that college degree...you can come back and tell me I'm brainless. Wow, you're very disrespectful to adults, so bet your great on the field. Sounds like the guy that watched the HHS Vs. CHS game was BIASED as well (he says he wasn't) or he would have heard the HHS fans yelling the F-word at the boys on the field. Also, #4 on HHS was going around calling everyone a B-word because he couldn't keep the ball. He seems extremely set on his opinion for supposedly not having one...you guys are fun!!! You know Brock???...if you knew the guys at CHS so well, how come you cannot spell Erik's name right... I at least I have the guts to put my name with my opinion and have no problem defended it...the rest of you hide behind your little cutsey names pretending you're unbiased and total experts on the game of soccer...guess again...you're wanna be's that love to over analyze and criticize the guys out there playing their best and with their hearts... How about you just be happy for all the players. None of them are playing on $$$million contracts, now are they...they just love the game. They look for that once in lifetime game (or at least the High School game) where they are the underdog (and defeat the best). Maybe we were lucky against HHS, but on some days, it pays more to be lucky than good...keep telling yourself whatever you like. It's been a great year... I wish everyone the best of luck on their club team state cup tournaments. See you in Memphis in a couple of weeks!!! I think more mom's need to get on these forums...see what the boys are up to...
  8. Update on Bearden/Centennial Game It wasn't a waltz in the park for Bearden...a tad overrated based on past years successes! CHS couldn't finish, but not for lack of Shots on goal. Bearden was given the benefit of the doubt on calls where their players blatantly shoved (once on a throw-in... BHS player shoving the CHS player throwing the ball in with the ref right in front of them, with no call). BHS' only score in the first half came on a handball call...didn't happen which gave them a pretty easy score. They took awhile in the second half to get another score, but that was when CHS substituted two key defensive players in the back...not quite ready. Finally, their third goal was a result of pushing everyone up for an offensive strike. If you ask me, CHS really came prepared for a much tougher opponent than it battled today... They should go on to the finals, though, with playing Columbia tomorrow evening...maybe CCS will prove us wrong! So, I would expect to see Farragut get to battle their rivals once more in the finals...this time Farragut won't let down their guard. It was a good time and next year the guys will know more and be ready to take charge. By the way, Cougar guys...were so proud of you all!!!
  9. I said the fans were poor sports (yelling obscenities from the stands) not the players...so back off. We could get into, they did this, and you did that, but there were some things done from the HHS fans to the CHS players, too. It's mysay vs. yoursay... So, I guess the only thing that matters is the score...enough said!
  10. Well, well...this is fun. Yes, Muller kicked a Franklin player, from what I've been told...I didn't see it (neither did the ref), but they also didn't see the Franklin player slam him to the ground...Franklin was a little frusterated, because he had just slammed a goal in...they were trying to pick fights everywhere on the field in hopes of a retaliation red card...great strategy...didn't work. If I were Brentwood, I'd be very frusterated...you have a lot of great players and should have had a path to state, but for whatever reason, you couldn't get the score...regardless of # of shots, it's the one's that go in the net that count, not the "should've or could've" shots. Such a funny little game, isn't it?
  11. MrFun, Were you at the game? Guess not, because Centennial was NOT outplayed. They played their hearts out and unfortunately HHS cannot handle defeat! Their fans were poor sports and sounds like they feel like they did play better, but that's not the case!!! Maybe you shouldn't go by second-hand info!!!
  12. Please, email me to let me know who you are...I'm not trying to defend just my son -- just know how hard he's worked and you did say "it's a matter of laziness" maybe a poor choice of words on your part that you didn't mean...I understand you're point of view! Also, whoever said they're glad their mom doesn't do this, well, what can I say...I'm an athlete myself and feel very capable of handle this forum. We did have a kick at another player in Franklin's game, but the rough up before the kick didn't count now did it...a take down on the field...ref didn't see either. Also, the punches that were given on the other end...it's soccer. I'm not sure if you've graduated or decided to sit out, but either way...I know you're proud of the guys, but reading into your posts, sounds like you're a little "wishful" that you were out there as well. There are a couple of ODP players on the team...just to let you know!
  13. Who wanted to know who was making excuses...did you miss this post??? see the recopy below. The person did graciously wish us luck but did not credit us with winning, but with them NOT winning...not very realistic. **************************** game analysis: centennial scores 3 early goals on 3 key mistakes in the back and they do basically nothing after that. 3-1 at half. hendersonville played well the last 60 min and should have won, or at least tied up the game. they were so many headers and shots that were just wide, and the pk miss. it was all very unlucky. centennial probably had maybe a couple shots in the second half, but nothing too serious. hendersonville possessed the ball and kept pounding away. it was just one of those games. im not knocking centennial, theyre a pretty good team and played hard but i feel hendersonville was superior. i spoke with a couple of centennial's players after the game and they said they were extremely lucky to make it out of the game winning 3-2. i feel we werent prepared for this game, too busy looking ahead. ive never played with a group of people that cared so much, especially the seniors. to go out like this is unbearable. my season was up and down, mostly down though. i hope to play better next year, we'll still be a pretty good team. im looking forward to it. good luck to centennial against bearden, you guys played well tonight.
  14. Thanks, Alex...you too are headed to Memphis! Congrats!!! Packy did show 'em how to do it, count 'em, 2 goals, by yet another lazy midfielder, wow!!! Way to go FRA!!! Say hi to Daniel H.
  15. Well, I'm a mom and a fan...you wouldn't say that about a dad now would you. I do know the game and understand hustle when I see it. You were a player...why don't you play anymore??? Don't criticize those that do... I do know we have some that will not go to the ball (in other games), but I will say that they did last night. I may be a little bias, but my son always goes for the ball and is not TENTATIVE...unless, our definitions are different. In fact, most tell me he's a little too aggressive at times. Who said you could use my first name, it's Mrs. Muller to you! ha!!! You have some good points, but be careful not to generalize about the whole midfield. As far as the refs, they were better, but still give BHS way too much room. Their players are dirty, talk smack, and get away with a lot of things that the refs either don't see or turn their backs to. If you were a player, you'd know that and recognize it during the games!!! Last night it sounds like they were being watched a little more carefully and wow, it's amazing, when they have to use only their skill...guess, it was difficult. Smyrna (I have been told) is a team to reckon with. It's no fluke when you consistently beat the opponent and that's what they've done in not just one, but two matches in which they were "supposedly" outranked??...and now that the cougars are confident and know what it takes, I wouldn't count us out as well. I'm glad you're proud, you should be...also, I'm assuming you're criticizing because in some way you're trying to be helpful???? Who are you??? You can send me an email if you don't want to reveal your identity in this forum...donna-muller@comcast.net. I should at least have the honor of knowing your name since you know mine and used it...Thanks!
  16. Yes, you are correct about the Centennial win over Hendersonville. They came thinking they were walking away with this thing, and CHS decided differently. Just because you're ranked and supposedly the best, doesn't make it so...or we'd just put the numbers down on paper and give the trophy to who we think should win... You better play to win and if you don't, be a good sport and realize you were not good enough to win (at least on this day, at this time). As the quote goes... "on any given day." That's why there are underdogs--ever watched the movie "Hoosiers?" Where somewhere in the heart of CHS and Smyrna there was a little bit of Hoosier. Good luck to all the teams that played their hearts out and have earned their spot in the final eight!!!
  17. Oh, yes, by the way, we were told we couldn't beat Hendersonville, either, so guess we'll see about Wed. and so be it..... You sound like a disgruntled fan...loosing fan.
  18. Someone asked you earlier if you were a player...are you? Are you Centennial Player? Also, my son is one of those lazy midfielders in which you speak and there isn't one ounce of laziness in his bones...he cleared many a ball out last night and almost scored on a breakaway in the final few minutes... he also assisted the third goal, so how's that for pressure. He also, was a solid attacker during the Brentwood game, stealing the ball on more than one occasion...I don't know who you are, but guess you're just a spectator and free to your opinion, but we're in state, so guess they're doing something right, now aren't they? Also, Mattison was flung down in the box...I guess when the defender's hands push the back of the offensive player, that would be a dive...maybe in your rules of soccer... Our midfielders are awesome and considering that during the Franklin and Hendersonville games, it was the midfielders that scored two goals each, then you go ahead and say they have no offense!!! Those same midfielders also compiled several assists in those same games. The trouble with the Brentwood game is that the BHS players were allowed to play dirty and if you're bigger and not called on the fouls, then yes, you have the advantage... CHS is going to state, so I think these guys are all awesome!!! Later...
  19. Smyrna, Congrats. You put the icing on the cake for Centennial HS. I've seen the whining about BHS getting slapped with 34 fouls, but we've been there and it's about time they had to play clean. Good luck!!! See you in Memphis!
  20. I guess you didn't see the one of the midfielders pressing up to the top even near the end with a break away...how can you say that...they midfield played great and offered several defensive saves as well...I think ALL the guys played great and gave it there all!!!
  21. There was no luck involved. Centennial came out playing...they were denied a PK that should have been called when Ryan Mattison was about to score and was shoved to the ground in the box at the PK line with no foul. Also, Centennial had Patrick McFarland stay on his feet to beat his guy to pass the ball to Andrew Muller that would have netted a goal right at the PK line and the ref (unbelievable) called the foul with CHS having the advantage to goal and should have let the play go...that would be 5 goals. The PK that was missed for Hendersonville was given because the guy went up for a header and just plain couldn't keep his balance and landed on his side which was blamed on a CHS player who never touched them. Yes, you may have had 3 mistakes in the backfield, but that's what the game is about..mistakes made into opportunities. Centennial was the superior team for this game. Maybe superior comes at different times with a different frame of mind...who wanted it more...the Cougars played like they had nothing to loose but to advance and they are!!!! Hendersonville played tough, but tonight belonged to Centennial.
