  1. I'll admit, you may be right about those calls, I don't really remember them. Of course, you don't usually remember the ones that go in your favor, right? Congrats Siegel.
  2. Ok. Hopefully everyone on here who has been around knows that I try to be as objective as possible. With that in mind, here are a few things: 1. Lebanon didn't really play well enough to deserve to win. 2. Neither did Siegel. 3. Oden's shot was an off-balance buzzer-beater from somewhere around the three-point line. I couldn't see whether it was behind the arc or not. 4. Lebanon missed way too many shots, and made a lot of mental mistakes. 5. Two calls stand out to me. Not that I'm saying they would have changed the outcome, but they were certainly important. a. Lebanon was within five (I'm not sure of the exact number). Jones drives to the hoop, LOSES the ball, and WITHOUT the ball runs into an LHS defender. LHS is called for a blocking foul. Perhaps I should brush up on my rulebook, but if Lucas didn't have the ball (which he didn't), that's his foul. b. Lebanon is within two. Ramsey is facing the baseline with the ball. He (very clearly) loses the ball out of bounds. Yet it's Siegel ball. The inbound finds Oden for an easy layup and instead of a chance to tie, Lebanon is down four. Not complaining, just sharing what happened.
  3. I'm a Blue Raider too. Eh, it's just the first day...
  4. Wow, and all this time I had it in my little head that I had a modicum of class. Oh well Hey d2d where do you go to school? I'm skipping class too.
  5. Wow, I must say, you hit the nail directly on the head with your assessment of Lebanon fans. We are all chock full of arrogance. Actually, no. the current (small) crop of Lebanon posters are one of the better groups I have seen on here. Trust me, I've been around a while, long enough to endure "ten post wonders" who would hop on after every win and talk about how Lebanon is going to win state. Props to blue06, especially, for being a constant presence on here. I wish I was on more. Friend, I think you may have it backwards. I've had plenty, PLENTY of experience with Cookeville, and while I respect their athletic programs, my encounters with students have been less than desirable. I dated a girl from Cookeville for a pretty good while, and even she got on my nerves with the whole arrogance thing. Several people (not necessarily you), are under the impression that Lebanon is some sort of dirty slum worthy of an upturned nose. As for the game, Lebanon will be underdogs. They should be, as Cookeville IMO has proven more so far. I can't give a prediction, but I think it will be close. Wish I could be there. I guess I'll just have to listen to ol' Clyde call it in the car. Good luck, Devils.
  6. Well, I just read eleven pages and my head is spinning. So Lebanon lost 74-72 to what I understand is a pretty good Bolton team, and beat Warren by about 30, I believe. Still looking good. Big tests still ahead. Hope everyone had a merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Kwannza, etc. Any games worth catching next week?
  7. I agree with the "game shape" remark. Not to take anything away from Keith, but there is a difference between being 100% physically and being 100% in the swing of things in a game situation. I'll bet that Siegel doesn't go undefeated once Ramsey comes back.
  8. Wow. Great win, Patriots. Now I feel a little better about the fact that Lebanon lost to you guys by about the same score. I get the feeling there are a lot of good teams that are going to bunched up together beating each other this season. By the way, I met Theryn Hudson (Lavergne star last year) in weird fashion. I dropped my phone outside the grill up at school and was freaking out thinking I had lost it; then I get a call from Hudson saying he found my phone. He's a really nice guy, too bad he's not going to get any PT this year. The above was completely unrelated, but I felt like sharing.
  9. Wow, great post. When I saw the title I assumed it would be another Lebanon fan who's only here long enough to talk about how Lebanon is going to beat everyone. What I read instead was a heartfelt, objective, well-thought out post that I fully agree with. This team has surprised me so far this year, and I hope they keep it up. If they still gave out good marks I would give you one.
  10. Aww man, I was being sarcastic too. Thought the overly dramatic "RIGHT?" and the unsure face would give it away. Oh well...
  11. You're being sarcastic, right? RIGHT?
  12. Not trying to be a homer, but Britton Winfree had a monster dunk for Lebanon last night. Presley had a three rim out, Winfree took it off the backboard and slammed it home, then hung on the rim. I'm kinda surprised he didn't get a T. Britton had a nice one against Gallatin a while back as well. He's definitely got ups. Several other Blue Devils can dunk but haven't yet in a game.
  13. I was at the WH-Lebanon game and expected a closer matchup. Who was missing for WH?
  14. Good post D2D. Chants wil happen, some appropriate, some not. What's important is what's happening between the lines.
  15. That's a pretty weak differentiation in my book. And anyway... Don't suggest that Siegel never comes up with chants that are degrading the opposition for something they have no control over. That is, simply put, incorrect. And there's nothing wrong with that. Chants are fun; they get the crowd going. But even though "Odom scrotum" or whatever isn't clever, it's nothing you guys can rightfully get your panties in a wad over. I've never noticed Oden's dad, though I've only seen Siegel play a few times. I can't comment on what 2P said, but I wouldn't be surprised. No disrespect to JR. intended.
  16. I moved around, but for the OHS game I was sitting in the second row, across from the OHS bench. I was wearing a long-sleeved blue polo and a knit cap.
  17. Congrats Oakland and Lebanon for representing the district well tonight at the Blue Devil Classic. I only caught the second half of OHS-MJ, but was impressed with what appeared to be a Patriot squad clicking at the right time. They won by 14, I believe, but the game wasn't really close. Good job Oakland. Lebanon defeated White House 72-50 in the Battle of the Blue Devils. WH seemed rattled by LHS pressure on D, particularly the point guard #00, who had several turnovers. When your floor general is off, it makes it difficult to establish a rhythm. Somebody metioned something about some WH starters being out, can anyone shed some light on this? Either way, for the first time this season I was thoroughly impressed with my boys. I started to feel good about the Devils after last night, when they were able to win a close one against a rival, which is a sign of a good team. Tonight they were dominant, especially on D. Highlight of the game: In the 3rd quarter John Presley puts up a three that rims out. Britton Winfree soars in, grabs the ball off the backboard, and SLAMS it home. This was no run-of-the-mill dunk; he put it down hard.
  18. Oakland beat Mt. Juliet by 14, was in control the entire way (at least what I saw) Lebanon defeated White House 72-50, weren't ever really challenged.
  19. I caught the second half, was very impressed with Oakland all around. Blissard looked really good. Mt. Juliet didn't quite seem to be clicking, but I'm not trying to take anything away from OHS, as they seemed very in sync tonight. Who was there tonight?
  20. Should be a good game. I'm not familiar with White House but based on their results it looks like they are pretty good. If LHS plays as they did last night I believe they will win, but I still have no idea how good the Blue Devils are yet. Looking forward to it. Now I'm headed to Campbell Brandon...
  21. 98.9, WANT-FM is indeed the Lebanon station. I am almost positive that the game is on there. Thanks for the kind words about Clyde. He is definitely a true professional.
  22. I don't think I'll be able to make it for the OHS-MJ ame, but I'll definitely be there for LHS-WH. If you can stick around, we should meet up.
  23. Just an update from the world outside of Murfreesboro: Great game tonight in the Blue Devil Classic as Lebanon defeats Mt. Juliet 67-66. This one was close wire-to-wire. Britton Winfree and Ken Walton, in particular, came up big for LHS tonight, though I don't have exact point totals. Winfree rejected a floater with authority as time expired to preserve the win. I'm still not sure exactly how good MJ is, but this game was encouraging for Devil fans, as I expect it was somewhat of an upset. I think Oakland should be able to handle MJ tomorrow night. Did the Patriots play White House tonight, and how did the game go?
  24. Congrats Devils. Looks like the guy in my sig led the way again. Does anyone know if Gallatin is any good?
  25. This score was about what I expected. Lebanon still has a lot of room for improvement. But I heard the student section was good, so that's encouraging.
