District 7-AAA is down from where it has been in recent years. Oakland is nowhere close to where they were a couple of years ago. Riverdale lost a tremendous talent in Horton and they are substantially down from where they have been. White County is the best team, but they are not as good this year as they were last year. Warren County is probably the best they have been in a few years, but they are an average team. Siegal is not very good because they are too young. Lebanon is also very young and struggling tremendously. Cookeville, like Riverdale, lost an outstanding player in Taylor and they not as good as they have been in recent years. Blackman has the best team they have had and they can look very good at times and then turn around and look absolutely horrible. 7-AAA is not weak, but there are no really strong teams in the district this year.
8-AAA also appears to be down as well. What has happened to Lawrence County? They seem to have dropped a great deal from where they have been over the last 5 years or so. Shelbyville and then a big drop off to the rest of the district.
From what I have seen 9-AAA is the class of the Mid-State in girls basketball this year. Mt. Juliet is very strong and still pretty young. Wilson Central is also very good with a great player in Gassie. Smyrna is the best they have been since the school was split up over 15 years ago to create LaVergne High School. They should be able to make the Regional for the first time in at least 18 years. LaVergne also appears to be improving along with Hendersonville. Beech is down some, but they still aren't bad. White House is apparently pretty weak.
Let's hear what everyone else thinks.
