You tell me I don't have a dog in this race yet all of your posts seem to have been deleted from that thread. As far as having a horse in this race, I think it was your smart mouth that got GC involved in the first place. I guess it's ok when nobody's around, but when we're here we can't reply to that BS huh? As for my wife, yes she graduated from there, as did my sister in law. They'll both tell you openly what goes on in the halls, but it's not my place to go into that. If I had said DB was the greatest team I've seen this year, you'd act like I was your best friend. Since I don't feel that way, I'm the "outsider". That's fine with me, I'll continue to talk football with people that wanna talk football, and leave the stupid replies to themselves. I said she dislikes the school more than I do, I never said I hated DB. Although some of you people would make the Pope hate white. I've not tried to start any arguements. I've said my peace about things and went on. The problem is, if I'm not praising you I'm hating you. To say I'm jealous of anybody or anything from Dobyns-Bennett High School is the dumbest thing anybody could say. I'm very proud of my alma mater and will be in the stands every Friday night they're on the field til the old man above calls me home. I call it like I see it, if you can't agree with that, you're the one with the problem. On GC's open dates, I'm usually at J. Fred Johnson if DB's playing. And how in the world does Gate City have as many cocky people percentage wise as DB? DB has 1600+ students compared to 450. Like I said, I'm not a DB hater, heck I'd like to see you guys actually win a state championship. I just wonder if this cockiness will be this bad when you play Oak Ridge or Jeff County? And just to attempt to clear it up one more time for you Waco, I'm not a DB hater. I live in downtown Kingsport and my wife graduated from DB. She dislikes the school more than I do. Anyway, it's not that "everyone hates DB", I think it's more the cockiness and "better than everyone" attitude that comes from there. After all, you're nothing in Kingsport unless you go to or graduate from Dobyns-Bennett high school, right?

How is that a far off call? Your defense might've tore them up, but your offense didn't.

I think DB will beat South, from watching them a couple of times. As far as the North game, DB might've came out ready to kill them, but if North had've held onto the ball, you're in a 7-0 ballgame in the third quarter. That's why football's the greatest sport on earth, anything can happen. Good luck to both teams and fans on a safe game.

Out of how South played last year? You only beat them 27-13. All a team needs is a chance, and if one team gets the big head, that's all the chance they need.

Does DB play Central this year? Central was the best team I saw at the Jamboree.

Cloudland's playing 3 Virginia teams already. If they tried to schedule GC, you're the only one in this area that's heard it. By the way, try to be more specific when talking about who won't schedule who. I talked to the gentleman from DB and I'd be happy to give you his name. He himself told me GC wanted to play, but DB didn't because it wasn't practical.

I wish they'd play a couple of home and home series. No doubt there'd be a huge crowd for it. Unfortunately, it won't happen though.

Not sure I spelled his name right, but I used to love the Friday night scoreboard show with Bobby Rader as host. Anyone know what he's doing now or if maybe the show will come back?

DB/North will be the biggest game in the Tri-Cities area this week. With the faithful followers of each team, football fans from other schools not playing tonight, the fact it's the first game of the year for most, and the number of out of town folks here for the race, there should be a huge crowd at North for this one. I can't wait.

Well this is one Gate City fan that came on his own. I guess we're supposed to bow to DB too huh? Not gonna happen. I was at the DB-Sevier County game last year and talked to an official from DB about DB and GC playing. He said that even though there would be a huge gate, it just wasn't practical for the two to play. After all, we're just a Group A school and DB wouldn't have anything to gain by playing Gate City. There are no parades in Gate City over our win over DB in '72, but it sure is a good comeback everytime one of you DB blowhards (and every school has them) make a snive comment like some of the ones you've made. I guess that 44-16 loss still burns for you folks. I also remember back in the '87-88 basketball season when DB came to our little "Mickey Mouse gym, in a Mickey Mouse school, in front of Mickey Mouse fans" (quoted by the DB radio announcer following Gate City's 89-87 OT win). I won't say DB's afraid to play Gate City, and I sure as heck know GC's not afraid of the mighty Indians.

I'm just curious if DB might be taking North a little lightly. I moved to downtown Kingsport a year ago and have heard the jokes being thrown North's way. There will be alot of folks there for this game with it being the early game of the season. Good luck to both teams and stay safe.

Being a neutral observer (I'm a Gate City grad), I worked in Church Hill for 13 years and live now in Kingsport. I've heard my share of arguments between both parties. The one thing I kept hearing from these "altercations" was the fact some of DB's best players over the years have come from Church Hill. It shut up one of the guys immediately, because he was from Church Hill but played at DB. This doesn't really solve anything, and the way I see it a player can play anywhere the old man above will allow. Church Hill High School was a powerhouse when I was younger. Some Volunteer folks tell me it's because there isn't any interest, but with the fine folks from Church Hill that I've known for so long, I find that hard to believe. Good luck to the Falcons this season. BTW, I had a gentleman tell me Volunteer was wanting to schedule Gate City sometime in the near future. I guess time will tell.
