  1. Yes Blackman beat Columbia last year. I was referring to 2 years ago. Im only saying the only way to determine who is the better team is when the play head to head. Not by how they did against common opponents because you can argue forever.
  2. You really cant use that kind of logic to determine who the better team is. The only way to determine is when they play head to head. Columbia is down this year but should still compete well. Two years ago Blackman beat Columbia during the season 4-0 and Riverdale beat them during the season 4-1. Columbia beat both of them in regions 1-0 later that year.whichever team is peaking down the stretch should prevail. Right now Tullahoma and Blackman seem on top but its a long season.
  3. Bryan Cartmell from Columiba Central (2004) is the starting keeper for Huntingdon College in Montgomery Alabama. He made 2nd Team All Conference (Great South Athletic Conference) and Conference Freshman Player of the Year.
  4. Thats a good possibility but dont rule out Columbia or Riverdale.
  5. I agree. You sometimes cant control the score. Either way its hard on the other team. Run up the score or play keep away. Witha alot of sub mediocre teams out there its hard to keep the score down. Its all in how you conduct yourself. I met the McMinn Co coach at the Columbia McMinn Co sectional game last year and he seems like a real class guy. Im sure regardless of the situation in the Rhea Co. game his players conducted themsleves professionally.
  6. McMinn is a great team but if the defense hasnt improved from last year they will lose to Farragut again this year. but their offense is very explosive.
  7. I watched McMinn Co play Columbia in the sectionals last year and I was really impressed with their offense. McMinn won 3-0 but their goalkeeper seemed a little nervous. That was my only concern about them. Their little guy Andy Slack was all over the place. He is a great player. Two years ago when i watched Farragut beat them in state 9-0 he was the only player that didnt seem to quit and he was only a sophomore or freshman then. They will definitely be back in state again this year. As far as running up a score sometimes its hard to control it. If a team is up by 7 or 8 goals late in the game and their starters are still playing then its a problem but if they are playing their subs and the game is still a romp there isnt much you can do. This makes for a good debate. There are alot of sub mediocre teams out there and the only way to improve their program is to compete against these stronger teams. If a team is getting beat 9-0 and the other team is just playing keep away with the ball that can also be embarassing so like I said it makes for a good debate on how to handle it.
  8. Columbia has lost a lot of key players from last year but still has alot of talent when and if they finally get it together. Their back line is very strong and quick. Their problem has always been scoring. Shelbyville seems to be an improved team so they could definitely be a factor in the district. They are well coached and so is Tullahoma. I would say those three teams should compete strong for the district championship. Columbia and Tullahoma played 2 great games last year with Tullahoma winning the season match up 1-0 and Columbia beating them for the district championship 2-1 in a shoot out. Columbia lost their goalkeeper from last year but should still be strong defensively enabling them to keep their games close especially their district games. But whichever teams peaks down the stretch should win the district.
  9. The easiest way for Blackman to go to state is to win regions like they did last year. If they finish runner up they will most likely travel to McMinn Co like Columbia had to last year in the sectionalsThe Region 4 winner has an easy path to state. Columbia won the region two years ago and played a mediocre Red Bank team whereas Riverdale finished runner up and had to play McMinn. Co. So its quite possible Blackman could return to state. I know Blackman lost some key players from last year but if they hold on and win regions they should go to state. Just my opinion. But history has shown that the region 4 champion gets a fairly easy route to the state. Good luck Blackman. Anyone who has followed Blackman knows that the past two years they had to play Columbia in the regions with Columbia winning 1-0 two years ago and Blackman winning last year 1-0 in double ot. Two great games.
  10. McMinn Co. has a very strong team judging from what I saw last year. Since their offense is pretty much intact from last year they shouldnt struggle offensively. My only concern is their goalkeeping.
  11. Columbia and Tullahoma have always had a good rivalry and it should continue this year. Columbia has lost several key players from last year but should still be solid. Their strength has always been the defense and their back line is still intact from last year. They have alot of players who have stepped up this year and their offense should improve a little. They have a new keeper this year. But like I said their back line is impressive. Both district tournament games between Tullahoma and Columbia the past two years went to PK shootouts. Both these teams play hard against each other. Tullahoma is a well coached team.
  12. McMinn Co should be able to put one of the best offenses on the field next year. After seeing them play this year my only concern would be their defense especially their goalkeeping. But with Shavers, Price and Slack up front they should definitely make alot of noise next year. All three are quality players especially Shavers. He can definitely has alot of ups. Slack is really fast. And Price is a great playmaker. I dont think too many teams will have that kind of offense next year.
  13. Yes he is very good. Im sorry I overlooked him.
  14. Cal Long, Centennial. Ive never seen a guy play the off side trap as well as him.
