  1. Yes Coach Estep is the new Head Coach at Tellico he has met with the kids. Coach Estep has a National Championship ring from his playing days at Carson Newman (1989). He played at Carson Newman with former Tellico player/AD/Coach, Donnie Kelley. I haven't had a chance to say anything about it with baseball going on full swing the last couple of days. Spring Ball is set for May 8-19. Coach Jones did not because of family illnesses father, father-in-law and his wife as well I think.
  2. Things have changed in Tellico since last week. Due to family concerns which I will not say what they are. Just give him prayers about his father and father-in-law. Coach Jones has given up the job up at Tellico, due to family illnesses. This in my opinion shows a lot about his character about not wanting to move that far away from his family. We wish Coach Jones a bright future as well as his family a speedy recovery.
  3. Coach has been hired. Not released to the press or anything yet, but he is from Alabama. His name is Lanny Jones. Other than that I can't tell ya to much.
  4. Polk will be tough as long as Davis (both of them) and Mackersie are both there. All are good coaches and good teachers. If Coach Mackersie is calling the offense they will formation everyone to death, he did that to us when he was Seq. County. Good coordinator and can get the kids to play for him as well.
  5. Hmm, thats news to me and I am at the school everyday. I think that the head coach will be....decided within a week or so to be honest now. I know the two finalists for the job, and neither of them is Coach Stone. I think names are best left out of this at this time. Go Bears!!
  6. Look at this site, it should tell you something about Vocational certification. http://www.state.tn.us/education/vehompg.htm
  7. Nothing as of yet. There are still a couple of guys left to be interviewed. The guys I have met are good guys. There are some front runners, but I will not say their names or where they are from. I think the hire will come late when the teaching spots for the 2006 - 2007 school year become available. Look for something in April or May to be honest. Available jobs now are Special Ed and Building Trades.
  8. No offense taken, just wanting let them know a little history about the program. We're good.
  9. I think they will be fine, but what do you consider a good season? I know after losing 17 or so starters, many people would take a 4-6 season as a success.

  11. I don't post much..... Actually they made the playoffs Daniels Senior season as we went 11-2 and lost to Oneida in the State quarterfinals. The team had a very good offensive line that average about 6'3" 275 for a small AA school that is big. The losses came to the #1 ranked Meigs County Tigers 33-21 and we lost to Oneida 28-14, but we were ahead at half and couldn't finish it off. The feature back was Daniel Harms but we had a couple of other solid TBs as well (Morgan Dalton& Jeremiah Kirkland). Then they made the playoffs again the next season by beating Polk County in the final game of the regular season to play Westmoreland. The Senior class that Daniel was in also played in a bowl game at Copper Basin High School during their Junior season losing to Jermaine Copeland and his Harriman Blue Devils. How do I know this stuff? I was part of those teams and am now an assistant coach there. Tellico is a good town, we do not have the greatest talent in the world (we do not have the athletes that Alcoa has or other schools, but who does?), the kids need a leader, they will follow if someone gets their attention quick. One of the problems we have is the lack of coaches, other than Coach Puryear, Coach Hunt and myself we were the only ones on staff (not volunteers). Anyone wanting information on this job can email me at coach_cathey@yahoo.com, I can let you know some of the things that we have returning and other stuff.
  12. I was thinking there is no way he is going to drop kick the ball from that distance, he killed it though. Notre Dame is a tallented team with I think 17 or so seniors, they will Polk all they want in week 10 for the Region Championship.
