    Beech

GVille it sounds as if you might have some suggestions for Coach Hayes on how he should run his program. I'm sure that he would appreciate a phone call and you can get him straight on who should be playing. Sometimes the players need to play to their potential and it is not always about the coach. Maybe you need to apply for the job. It sounds like you have many answers to the" problems "at Beech.

  14. In Georgia each school pays for the insurance and the GHSA gets 12% of the gate and the schools split 88%. They also play the semifinals at the Georgia Dome and each school makes alot of money. They play the finals at the home field determined by the bracket. They allow the schools to charge a minimum of $12 for the championship games. Schools make a great deal more on playoff games. If the TSSAA did not pay the insurance I think that the playoff reciepts would increase.

  17. Congrats to Kyle and his family!!! He is one of the best kids I have ever been around. Good luck Kyle!!!
  18. How do you suggest we hold this tryout and when? I agree that a tryout is needed but it cannot be held in the spring and if you do it in the fall you are going to miss on kids who are playing football or basketball. I realize that we miss on some kids but the record of Team Tennessee speaks for itself. The junior team won the Sunbelt in only the second year and our sophomore team has been in the championship game every year we have been out there. It seems to me that we are sending great teams every year.
  19. The players that are selected are players that are nominated by their coaches. If a coach does not nominate a player it is not he fault of the TBCA. Also coaches are not jumping up and down to coach these teams for Tennessee. I had the honor of taking a team the past two summers to Oklahoma and it was a great experience for me. The only way that we can get away from the "political" part is to have a tryout in the fall but even doing this we are going to miss on some good players. Oklahoma charges players $150 just to tryout and they will have over 400 kids tryout. It is an honor and privilege for these kids and I don't believe that we have reached that in Tennessee. We have a hard time getting our best players to go because of summer leagues which I think is crazy. The TBCA is pushing this tournament as a great opportunity for our players and coaches need to nominate players and if invited encourage them to attend. Alot of people want to criticize the TBCA but look at the opportunites that this organization is providing for players in Tennessee.
  20. The kids from Farragut and Halls deserve a spot on this team as well. You can't penalize them for participating in the state tournament. I have been involved in this showcase as a coach for the last three years and I agree with Coachfro that deserving players are left off. The TBCA does this showcase to recognize and "showcase" their talents. I don't think that there is a correct way to choose these teams because kids who may be deserving are going to be left off. As high school coaches we have to encourage our players to tryout and get involved in what is going on with the TBCA because we need all of the help we can get. You need to be at MTSU June 18-19 to see a great weekend of baseball. CoachFro thanks for all you do for the TBCA.
  21. Kyle is one of the best players and best kids that I have had the opportunity to coach. Congrats on this honor!!!!!
  22. One day should be o.k. We have had kids in the past tryout only one day.
  23. If you make the team you will be contacted and given more information. You will then go to MTSU on June 18-19. There you will have a pro-style workout and play games against Regions 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8. You will play and workout in front of 40-50 college coaches and pro scouts from almost every major league team.
  24. It is not a waste of time to show up if you are a quality player. There are times when spots have been saved for players who are still in the tournament, but I would not say that it is a waste of time. The exposure that you get if chosen is well worth trying out and it doesn't cost you anything to do so. I always encourage my players to go and try out for the TBCA showcase whether they can make it or not.
  25. Tryouts for Region 5/6 TBCA Showcase: Saturday 10 a.m. and Sunday 2 p.m. at White House High School Field.
