  1. i'm not a player. i just have close ties to the program. i am not sure what i have assumed but i'll tell you what i know..... friday night when you see rice throw the ball, you will understand what the hype is all about. he's just a sophmore and has great talent as a qb. those numbers i threw out were on accurate throws, not just winging it from the hip. he's really good. anyway, i'm looking forward to seeing a great game friday night and hopefully a couple more at home as we will host the playoffs as long as we keep winning. and oh yeah, i lost the mental game a long time ago and it had nothing to do with football! lol
  2. rice can throw the ball 65 yards in gym shorts with no pressure. i would say that in a game situation, he can prolly go about 50 yards with pretty good accuracy. i would say that for the first three quarters we a closer to 60% run and 40% pass. after we get up coach crews always calls off the dawgs. he is a respectable guy and doesn't try to blow out anyone. we were more than 14 points better than mount pleasant the night we played them. the mp game was the turning point for the cats this year and we have been much better since then. i hope that mtcs watches the collinwood film and thinks they can throw it on us. we had an off night in the secondary that night but we have been really good back there in every other game. i feel confident that if mtcs throws it 20 times, we will have 2 picks friday night. mathis, allen, and creecy can hold it down back there and we need them to step up big this week. good luck friday night cats!
  3. contrary to popular belief on these boards, this rivalry normally doesn't carry over past the ball game. closed minded people that believe everything is a personal attack at them and their family always get up in arms and talk about what they are gonna do but never come through with any of it. the whole deal with the flowers last year was nothing more than bullitin board material for the next year until an adult decided to hit a kid. it was not until that time that any lines had been crossed in the rivalry. i promise you that the flowers were not the worst stunt pulled in this rivalry. in the 90's, the cats rode to cwood with a stuffed dummy of the cwood tailback tied to the front of the bus. another year, the giant trojan head was stolen from cwood and used to make the prettiest bonfire i have ever saw. all of these stunts had one thing in common, they were pulled by kids without the knowledge of adults. this stuff happens. it goes both ways and has hardly any carry over once the game is over. its when adults get involved that we begin to have issues. so fans from both sides, let the kids play the game. whoever wins, do so with dignity and may the loser do so with his pride intact. this is my first post in 2 months and the last one i will be making so anyone who may have a smart remark directed towards me, all i can say is get over it and don't expect a reply!
  4. i deleted the post. i wrote it right after the game when emotions were still a little too high. although my comments had merit, they should have stayed mine and not everyone elses. in the past, this years team has always been able to win on athletisim alone. that doesn't work in high school ball. we are as athletic at linebacker as ever but were just not buying into the system for some reason. maybe the coaches can get it figured out. hopefully we can get better. this will be my last post on here so good luck the rest of the year cats. wchs78 and wcp70, delete your reply and get rid of the quote so no one else has to see it. again, good luck cats.
  5. i don't think that lewis co can score more than 21 and i don't think that the cats will score less than 21. on that thought, i'm takin the cats in a close one wc 28 lc 21
  6. this game wont be worth talkin about when it's finally palyed and it sure is not worth talking about now. cwood will be way out of its class against the cats this year. a 21 point win for the cats will be a disappointment.
  7. our chances of winning start and end with our linebackers playing better this week as a unit. too soft last week up the middle and we need to close faster off of the edge. our defense is designed for our linbackers to make most of the tackles espically against an offense like lewis county. if we will just read our keys and play our position, the system works and we can beat the panthers. if we choose to try and watch the ball and make the play once it gets to us instead of attacking the ball, lewis co will run all over us and we will have to attempt to outscore them agaisnt an always stingy defense. we do need a great week of practice but more than anything, we need to listen to what our coaches are teaching and use those techniques in the game. it is not just about intensity at practice but rather learning how to play the game the right way. we are very talented but much of that talent is very raw. we will not be out athleted this year but we may not be mentally were we need to be yet to beat the panthers. by thursday i hope to be told by those in and around our team that we have got it together and are ready to play. this game is always a great matchup and to be less that 100% prepared will not cut it.
  8. 6'4" sophmore quick enough to get away from trouble and can throw the ball without pressure over 65 yards. the coach told me he threw a pass on a boot play 60 yards in the air and hit the target dead on at practice last week. his touch passes are really nice when he throws them but he tends to look deep a little to often right now. he's a great player that will continue to get better as the year goes. he tends to play up to his competition so i expect him to get better as the competition stiffens.
  9. an interception can not be unforced. drew bevis made some great plays at corner tonight that really helped us limp through a lack luster performance. i know lewis county is watchin that film right now and licking thier chops. we need to have a great week of practice and be more attentive to that small tangibles right now. we are not were we want to be right now but it's early and we have the talent to get there. austin rice has got to see the field more and more every week so i look for the cats to mix it up a little bit. i would have to say that any team with enough speed to get to the edge could give us a lot of trouble as of now.
  10. collinwood always plays the cats close. even though i don't think the trojans have enough to beat us, i figure it will be closer that what us cats fans would like.
  11. i haven't seen a thing on waverly so i can not comment on what your offense will or will not do. the reason i brought up the hardin co team is that i did get to see that scrimmage and therefore i can post with confidence on that matter. here is what i know.... wayne co is as talented, as physical, and plays with as great of emotion as any team in 1A football. i have grown up around this program i can honestly say that i have not seen a team that i felt more confident in their ability than the one we will field tonight. rice is as good as it gets in this area and i think you will agree with me after you get to see him play. admittaly, our defense is not where our coaches want it to be so i do see some poitns being scored by both teams. i just honestly don't think that waverly could possibly have the talent to stop our offense. if you zone, tyler will pick you apart and if you blitz, chase grahm will run all over the place. with this being a non region game and knowing coach crews, if we can get up early, he will hold onto the offensive reigns in order not to show too much. because of that, i am predicting... cats 35 waverly 21 good luck tonight. have a safe trip. buckle those seat belts cause it's gonna be a bumpy ride come 7:00!!!
  12. wayne co is as capable of a team on offense as there is the state. with tyler rice at the helm and coach crews callin plays, our offense can not be stopped. hardin county's qb was preseason rated as the #22 qb in the nation and he was the second best one at the scrimmage. wayne co has so much depth at skill positions but our line is a little thin. we will knock you in the mouth but we can't afford any injuries. i would put 100 bucks on the cats scoring no less than 28 and prolly cloer to 42. the question is can our defense step it up and makes some plays. if we get the ball in decent field position, we will score 8 out of 10 times. guaranteed!!!!!!!! go cats. light em' up ps.... tyler allen will prolly knock at least one reciever out of the game if waverly throws anything over the middle. head hunter baby!!!!!
  13. final score wc: 28 cascade 14 i listened to the whole game on the radio and it seemed as though the game could have been even worse than it ended up being. great COMPLETE game for the cats. it will be fun to have another shot at them tigers! good game cats. players of the game: bell 26 carries for 268 yards on offense and beersdorf on defense. that poor qb will be see him in his dreams tonight!
  14. the key to stopping this trojan offense is penetration off the corner. if the outside backers can get penetration and turn the buck inside, their offense can be stopped. their backs are going in every direction but the guards will take you to the play every time. also, the qb can complete some passes if their rushing attack is at its best and holds the pressure off of him. if you get to his face though, i don't think he can throw very well. with all that being said, i don't think white house will be athletic enough to stop cwood. jo burns will be a different story though. wc thaught they would be able to run against them last year with a better running back in hammack and it didn't happen. without a good passing attack, jo burns is unbeatable. i say cwood and mp will both be put out by jo burns in the playoffs. cwood in the second round and mp in the third. they are definately the best teams in region 6 this year but this region is as week as it has ever been. this collinwood team is prolly a little bit better than the team from 2 yrs ago but other than that team, this is the worst team in about 10 years. mp is also much weaker than in the last several years. never before has one player been able to win this region like marco did this year. on another note, coach statom has become a pretty dang good strategist on the offensive side of the ball and given the chance, he can embarass you. he was a step ahead of the cats all night last week. the collinwood fans were also much better than the wayne co fans. the trojan fans had on their green and white and the wayne co fans had on their orange and white. unfortunately the cats are black and gold. this trojan team and town loves their football. they support it 100%. this is what small town football is all about. wc and any other school for that matter could learn a little of how to support your team. the trojans will give 100% every night so i'm not counting them out of any game from here on out.
  15. 4.5 sec. 40. wow, he's faster than robert meachem for the vols. just cause that's what the coach clocks him at doesn't mean that is what he runs. daunte stallworth was the fastest reciever i ever watched play at ut and he only ran a 4.45. so he is as fast as the fastest guys at wide recier university? i think not. i haven't seen cascade play this year but from experience playing them they always seem to be well prepared and will run over if you play weak on the edge so wc's outside backers need to have a much better game this week than last. wc needs to be on the positive side in the turnover margin in order to win this game. we can not afford to turn the ball over this week. so much momentum is lost when you put the ball on the ground. if we can hold onto the ball and play better on defense this week, it should be a good game.
  16. wayne co is not coach rice's "new" team. he's just now made it back home. emotions can make a game closer than it should be so i think pc will hang in till the end of the third to early fourth quarter but wc pulls away late. pc looked good when they beat ca but losing to huntland and mc really hurts emotionally. neither of those teams are at or near their usual talent level this year. there is a lot of bad blood between these two schools. it should make for a good game.
  17. easy there wildcat. i haven't turned my back on the cats. i said those things because it is easy to let people tell you how good u are and when you play week competition, u can get away with some mistakes that will come back and get you against better competition. it happend my senior year so i know. missed reads and missed assigments will get u beat against the likes of mp and cwood and we sure don't want that to happen. wayne co has the potential but were just not jelling right now on offense. i named those three because they have the ability to make a huge affect on every game. beersdorf is the anchor of that line and he needs to just relax and play his game. it's hard have a new coach come in and introduce a new system your senior year and he seems to be overthinking a little on defense. if you read this beersdorf, just relax and have fun. learn through the week and just let it all hang out of friday night. don't overthink the situation out there. just play how u know how to play. with that being said, keep workin hard this week and put it on ca friday night! all is good in wildcat nation!
  18. lol, i had really expected more return posts from the pc faithful on that one. and to think, the one pc post was a true wildcat at heart! just kiddin man, it sounds like your doin pretty well over there this year. good luck through the season coach.
  19. there is only one true rule on these boards bradley, and that rule is no one ever gives pc credit for anything. you just don't do it. read the rules man, read the rules!!
  20. haha! how true, how true. wayne co has a long way to go. cale butler, nathan bell, and jonathon beersdorf really need to step it up from this week on. cornersville plays hard but let's face it, they stink. 7-0 at half just aint gonna get it. i don't think this week will be too big of a test, but wayne co has got to get a lot better if were gonna play for the region. i am as big of a wayne co fan as there is, but even i know we have a lot of work to do to get were we need to be. keep workin hard cats and get better every week.
  21. in almost any other year, this wildcat team would not make the playoffs, but the region is just weak enough that the cats could easily finish in the top 3. all of the powerhouses in this region showed in their first games that the region as a whole is as weak as it has ever been. as i wrote on another post, mp, wc, cwood, and ca got beat in their first games 152 to 13. these were the top 4 from last year. anything but first in this region may be an embarrasment. the only standout player in this region plays qb for mp and he is not surrounded with as much talent as mp has had in the last few years. any team in this region is very beatable. wayne co, cwood, or mp could finish 9-1 or 6-4 very easily. it's hard to tell what teams will do until they play some of the same competition or each other. this region is still a toss up. don't get is twisted, no one has proved anything yet.
  22. lewis co had a great defense lead by a heck of a linbacker core. hopefully wayne co's linebackers watched how you play the run. you can't catch blocks at the backer position and we did that all night. the cats were way to passive at outside backer and seemed to blitz ourselves out of several plays. on offense, it's hard to run without any push up front. lewis co was a bit stronger than we were. andrew creacy was open on every play at reciever and we were able to hit him a few times. the passes were late but he made some great catches. with some work on timing, we should have a good threat with the passing game. we were about 2 seconds late on every pass. rice will work on that this week and have us ready for the season. lewis co will probalby be the best team we play this year. the region is way down across the board. the four top teams from the reigon last year were mount pleasant, columbia academy, collinwood, and wayne co. in these teams first games of the season, our region was beat 50-0, 56-13, 28-0, 18-0. the total comes to: region 6: 13 opponents: 152 that not so good.
  23. he's been coaching at waverly for the last four years i think.
  24. first day in pads was very promising for wayne county. logan bear may very well be one of the best linemen wayne co has ever had, and trust me, i know wayne co football. his name will be know rather well around region 6 by mid season. i guarantee it!! he'll be rockin some heads!!
  25. this coming year's eigth grade class will bring wayne co their first state championship bid before their 4 years in highschool is over. they are the best middle school players i have ever watched. as long as they stay together, they are unstoppable. as seventh graders, they were undefeated in football, won the state championship is basketball and won the dixie youth state champoinship in baseball. there are some incrediable athletes in that group.
