  1. Bulldogs travel to Fairview next Friday night. A pair of one loss teams will battle it out for a trip to the semis. Winner takes on the winner of the Pearl-Cohn and CPA game. Winner will have home field advantage. GO DAWGS!
  2. Congrats on a quick start to the season for the Hornets. I know that you know that this will not be a sub-par team rolling into your home field. The Dawgs will come at you from every direction. Just ask Humboldt when our D-line spent the night in the backfield. As for speed, we have multiple players who can run with the twins. No disrespect to your 4-0 record, you have earned that. After Friday night you will see what it takes to make it to the next level. Milan - 42 So. Gibson - 7
  3. We will miss Charlie. Perhaps one of the greatest fans of MHS. Fan of Atheletics, Band, and others groups. It will be odd not hearing, "How bout them BULLDOGS!" and seeing him running on the field this fall.
  4. Milan continues to take it "one game at a time." The defense speaks for itself after their performance in the first two games. Talent and speed have characterized their level of play. On offense the ability to make the big play is there. Coach Morris summed it up by saying he would like to see them get 10 yds. in 3 plays. Grind it out, because there will be a game where we will neeed to be able to do this. I look for continued improvement this week as the DAWGS prepare for a talented Westview team. They will be ready coming off of a loss to McKenzie. Milan - 24 Westview - 13
  5. Sounds like a good West TN Defensive battle shaping up this Friday. Milan's defense played lights out Friday night, Westview from what I hear is stingy as well on defense. Great region game that puts the winning team in the drive's seat for the district. Milan 24 - Westview 13
  6. Milan comes into week one with a solid win at JCS. Huntingdon comes in with a shut-out loss to Westview. When it comes to Milan and Huntingdon, throw all of that out. The Dogs and the Mustangs have had some classic battles over the years and this year should be no different. Looking forward to another great game. Milan should continue to play well and gain experience. Milan by 2 touchdowns. GO DAWGS!
  7. Dawgs looked good in the season opener. The offense did better than expected. The defense played extremely well against a talented JCS group. This win should go a long way in boosting the confidence of a young squad. Kudos to Coach Morris and staff for having the team ready. Congrats to the team for playing your game and not listening to those who questioned your ability. Looking forward to this season, one game at a time. Like the T-shirt I saw Friday night, "COMMIT 2 WIN."
  8. Any word on Milan's Schedule for 2009?
  9. Quote from the Sunday edition of the Jackson Sun by the Head Coach at JCS. "I don't care. ... We'll play in a McDonald's parking lot," Stewart said. "We love going to Johnnie Hale (Stadium). No big deal." Bulldog fans, let's show up and cheer these dogs on in a crucial game toward state. They are coming to our house and we need to be present.
  10. I expect this game to be another showdown between competing styles. Milan will probably play tighter coverage and expect the receivers to not have the 8 yd. cushion. Milan's key to victory is to stop the run on defense. On offense, take it right at them and force them to stop our run. I look forward to another Milan victory. Milan - 35 JCS - 17
  11. Milan by a whole bunch. GO DAWGS!
  12. Back to the game. 3 days and counting. GO DAWGS!
  13. Thanks for the correction on the game time. I have seen funnier things happen when these two rivals play. During my son's senior year of 2003, Milan went up big on Trenton at Trenton. In the 4th quarter Coach Morris had to put the first string back into the ballgame to stop the momentum that Trenton had gained. Here's hoping that the Dawgs will put them away early and give the 1st team some much needed rest after the last two weeks. GO DAWGS!
  14. Both USJ and JCS run the spread offense to perfection. All of the receivers can take it the distance and run precise routes. Both quarterbacks are pin point precise. To answer your question, Milan will be ready for a run in the playoffs. With two touchdowns on returns, Milan shows that they are multi-talented. When one area is not as strong, they can beat you another way. Case and point, when JCS was looking for a tailback carrying the ball with less than 1 min. to go, Justin Coleman, the Q'back, takes it 36 yds. for a touchdown. Coach Jeff Morris and his staff will have this team ready for the rest of the season and a big run into the playoffs this year. GO DAWGS!
  15. Milan rolls into week 8 with 7 - 0. Big region matchup which is also an in-county rival. Milan looks for revenge from last season as Trenton defeated Milan in the quarter final game of the playoffs. Trenton is down a little this year, but, this is a big rivalry game. This will be a Thursday night game with a 7:30 p.m. kick-off. Milan should roll in this one. Look for alot of rushing from the DAWGS!
  16. Stats for the game: FINAL STATS JCS First Downs - 18 Rush yds. - 78 Pass yds. - 359 Total yds. - 437 Penalties - 9 Milan First Downs - 11 Rush yds. - 131 Pass yds. - 253 Total yds. - 384 Penalties - Milan had 2 returns for touchdowns.
  17. Beau Vandiver intercepts the JCS pass. Milan wins 35-21
  18. Milan scores from 36 yds. out to make it 35 - 21 with 1:03 to go.
  19. 3:00 to go, Milan holds on 4th down. 2:12 to go Milan calls a time out.
  20. 5:24 to go, JCS ball at their 21.
  21. Milan holds. Takes over at the 31 yd. line with less that 8 min. to go.
  22. Milan holds. Has the ball at the 38 yrd. line of JCS. Milan throws the interception.
  23. End of the 3rd Quarter, Milan 28 JCS 21.
  24. JCS kicks off. Tristan Peoples takes it 85 yds. for second return for touchdown of the game. Extra point is good. Score: Milan - 28 JCS - 21
  25. JCS scores touchdown. Extra point is good. 21-21
