while bryson only finished his freshman year i do believe he has extreme potential.. i believe that most football players are discovered at football camps.. i mean lots of players from across the country go to football camps each summer and whether you play for 1A or 5A does not matter it matters about the ability.. i believe Bryson has lots of it and if he lives up to his potential he will be amazing.. i believe Bryson is far better than Gaston was his freshman year.. time will tell if he becomes better than Gaston, but he is on the right track.. while i do know Bryson and do not know Gaston, i did go to Riverdale and saw gaston a lot.. i do not believe defenses keyed on Gaston as much when Dave was there cause he could hurt you as well and did.. i believe wherever Bryson goes he will be amazing and if he keeps his grades up he will go D1 without a doubt.. and just because a running back got negative yards against a team does not mean he is not good.. that teams offensive line could have a bad game or could be HORRIBLE.. but like i said, only time will tell about his ability.. i believe he will become great and go D1

i only saw the 2nd half, but he caught a couple line of scrimmage passes that went for short 1st downs. he caught a pass inside the 5 from about the 50, but got called for a push off. also saw a highlight where an intended pass to him was picked off. someone who saw the 1st half can elaborate better than me.
i did like the spear on the side of his helmet /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
i was also thinking the same thing about the spear.. but then thinking about it, if he were at riverdale his stats would have stunk cause riverdale never passes the ball, EVER.. and that play was not pass interference (atleast in my opinion).. the east did dominate though with both Spurlock and Rod both having pancake blocks

Oh Larry Daniels....he was the quickest and fastest QB that I played against. Watching film preparing for their game, we were told he was fast and even knew their first play from scrimmage and still he busted one for 60 yards. He went to Cumberland for a year...believe it was '98 season. Don't think he made it through the full season because he couldn't stay out of trouble.
Where is Wolke now? He could be the starter at Notre Dame now throwing to Golden Tate. But, I don't blame him for leaving.
Wolke is the starting QB at Western Kentucky.. i think western could have beaten Notre Dame this year.. and no i dont think he could start at Notre Dame cause Charle Weis is soo high of Jimmy Clausen is not even funny.. he acts like hes going to be the next Joe Montana

no offense but why would Rankin leave Alcoa (state powerhouse and bright future) for Oakland (no offense but not the same caliber as Alcoa).. but hey i guess Rankin doesnt care about rings and his kids all he wants is more money.. or better yet maybe he is tired of losing to George Quarles and Maryville every year.. haha.. hey he shouldnt feel to bad though, they have beaten everyone for the past 60 games in a row.. but hey i guess time will tell

Bryson got MVP with 172 yards rushing.. his average was 6.2.. scary hes just a freshman

yea he will..as long as he has the grades..he will go wherever he wants
not enough players think about that...all those great Riverdale teams back in the day had some great players that didnt have grades and couldnt go D1...
and thats what i heard about the Hughes kid at siegel...he was a BEAST..but i heard he didnt have grades to go D1
one good thing i can say about smyrna is they work the players out with grades and tell them they need to hit the books.. i believe he will get with it.. i use to play back yard football with Bryson when he was just a little kid and he has had moves and speed ever since i can remember.. great player with heart

i am not 100% on the rule but i do believe that is what it is.. im there there is a better person to ask than me.. Bryson is the real deal though and will play D1

I always heard that the Bryson kid was 2 old...even back in middle school.
So fill me in...so he is really a sophomore by age?...so he will ne classified a junior next year?
from my understanding you can play high school sports until the age of 19

Bdogg, how are you going to say that smyrna whooped riverdale in the playoffs last year? riverdale missed a field goal that would have won the game.. the only beat down i saw last year was the one riverdale handed to smyrna last year, what was that score again? but the riverdale players respect smyrna's talent but is definitely not scared.. this year riverdale's kicker is better and if called upon, will not miss like the one last year.. should be a great game.. does anyone know if the game will be streamed over the internet? ill be at college in chattanooga all weekend

Offensive lines.....toss up, but slight advantage Riverdale
Defensive lines....huge advantage to Smyrna
Recievers.....huge advantage Smryna
Defensive backs.....advantage Smyrna
Backs....Huge advantage Smyrna
Kicking games....advantage Smryna
Quarterbacks.....Smith is good, but Gray will rebound. Advantage Smyrna
Coaching....Huge Advantage for Smyrna
Close game with Smryna winning by a 3.
i dont know whose coaching staff you're looking at.. coach shad and his staff have had one good year, last year.. but i guess we'll all see on friday night

Aaron Douglas. 6-6, 250 @ Maryville. Tennessee commit. But.....now has interest in visiting Alabama, South Carolina, and Southern Cal. You know....just to see the west coast. The South Carolina thing is interesting in light of what happened with Cade Thompson down there.
if he wants to got to so cal im all for that seeing as how i love my trojans.. haha.. i mean who wouldnt want to live in so cal with the awesome weather, except the fact that USC is in the ghetto, but it is a great school

I am around him quite often including during work outs. He is one of the hardest working players on the team.
You are about a couple years to late. Every since his brother signed with UT and he realized what his future could be he has hit it hard to get better.
He will be the number one prospect in Tennesseee in 2007
i agree that he is a great athlete but im not sure if he will be number 1 in the state.. either between him and spurlock from riverdale.. but hey rutherford co has the best two players in the state, i can live with that.. i still dont think rod is going to sign with ut.. florida just won a national title and has tebow, that must look really appealing.. i guess we'll see what happens though

The only way Riverdale can beat Smyrna (and repeat as Region champion) is to find someone who can shut down Wilks.
Who do they have that can do that?
Unless they have someone, the Wilks-Gray Show will be unstoppable.

one thing about the smyrna riverdale games of the past is that riverdale really never needed to guard the receivers to tight because smyrna could never block the riverdale line.. now the couple games i have seen sonny play against riverdale he has made time for himself.. wilks is a great player but if the qb doesnt have time then he cant get the ball.. do i think anyone on riverdale's team could guard him one on one, no.. but the real question is will it matter? i know these are new teams and what not but just speaking from the past matchups..
its about time bryson is finally in high school.. i remember playing with him in back yard football a while back.. he has some really good moves and a big heart.. i look for him to get some playing time on varsity this year

rod is a great player.. as to where he should go is up to him.. i wish the trojans of usc would offer him because i know of how hard of a worker he is but im not sure if he is getting scouted by them.. patrick turner out of nashville is going to be their go to guy this year so they do recruit in the state.. where ever he goes i know he will do good

instead of saying who we believe is best.. who is getting looked at for college? ive heard that james holt from riverdale is being looked at by memphis and he is only a junior.. so i would have to say that is pretty good.. anyone else receiving looks?

is warner all they got or just bad coaching
they go not have the best coaching in the world.. the coaches son starts and he is horrible.. he shoots 3's like hes jj reddick and hits maybe 1 in 10.. warner is good i think so is strickland.. rod is no longer playing basketball but they got torress back so they should be better.. but to answer your question its bad coaching.. when i was a freshman we had two guys that we close to 7 ft and our team was horrible yet both are playing D1 college ball.. so that should tell you something right there

well i guess since smyrna won state they're the best team in the country right? well if you want to be considered top you have to play the top teams and i would go watch a game between riverdale and either maryville or hoover

i think riverdale wins but there are a few things i dont understand.. first, why are players on here talking crap? and secondly, why do riverdale people act like they're the best team in the country? dont get me wrong im a riverdale grad but my bro graduated from smyrna and i know some of their players and they're really great people.. coaching is another story.. but yes riverdale is good and will probably win state.. i would like to see them maybe schedule maryville or alcoa and some other powerhouse teams to prove or try and prove that they're the best team in the state.. when they do that ill let them talk as much crap as they want.. just remember to have class and represent your school with pride

i would say dave carried the ball just as much as Gaston did when they played together.. yeah he was the TB but teams had to scout 2 people not just 1.. as far as senior year goes yes Gaston was the man.. he did great except for getting shut out by Oak Ridge.. i was at that game and almost everything that he ran was stuffed.. im not taking anything away from Gaston cause hes at Vandy and from what i heard should get some PT as a returner this year cause someone told me hes gotten even faster, which is crazy to think about.. i just believe Bryson is a great talent.. and i just do not agree that if you play for a 1A team the big schools will not look at you.. and in my opinion, he probably wants to follow Shad since Shad lets the stars of his teams do whatever you want.. Wolke thought he was god's gift to quarterback.. he was a very nice guy but was not half as good as he thought he was.. but once again, that was just an opinion
