so if this is what TSSAA decides to do then just roll with it. This also puts more meaning in the season.

The T$$AA dosen't make up the brackets! The coaches do!!! And I agree with you completly about how the regular season shouldmean something.

  2. QUOTE(JACKETDAD @ Feb 9 2007 - 04:26 PM) 826365345

Why not give a bye in District Tournaments to the higher seeded teams, which would allow the last place team to at least compete in the district tournament? Its not about whether or not a last place seeded team in the district would beat anyone, its about the Opportunity!

Didn't mean to come across as hateful... But if you gave the 1 seed a buy, youd have 2 vs. 5 and 3 vs. 4... Thats only 2 winners. What are you going to do? have the losers of those two games play for elimanation? That dosen't make a whole lot of sense... Anyway, everyone gets in the district tourny. If your seeded and playing in a tournament format, its the distict tourny

  3. QUOTE(JACKETDAD @ Feb 9 2007 - 10:29 AM) 826364849

In Reg. 2, Dist. 4, the teams that are currently ranked 6th and 7th have to play each other next week (Thursday) and only the winner of this game will compete in the District Tournament. Does anyone know if this is true? Are any other Districts doing the same thing? I'm referring to the Kingston Lady Jackets and the Anderson County Lady Mavs.

Yes. In districts with only five teams, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place are garunted a spot in the regions. 4th and 5th play in a play in game. Winner of that gets to regions. Then they play a bracket format for seedings in the regions.

  4. QUOTE(JACKETDAD @ Feb 9 2007 - 03:48 PM) 826365293

Then why call it a "District Tournament"?? If each team in a District, isnt allowed to play in the actual district tournament, its simply a tournament to see who goes on to the Region. As for giving the top 2 teams a bye into the Region, thats crazy! Thats the purpose of the District Tournament, to decide which 4 teams go to the Region so they can make a run towards the state. Based on some of the previous post who believe the top two teams in a district automatically go to the Region, then just cancel all the tournaments except the actual State Championship. Just take the top two district teams from each district and send them to the boro. Oh I forgot, TSSAA has to get their money!!

Well then why don't you come up with a bracket where everybody has to play and its all even... Well let me tell you: You won't. Unless you have a round-robin, which would probably take two weeks, which means the T$$AA gets MORE $$$. So what you want contradicts what you are saying. If you want everyone to have to play for the region, more games will HAVE to be played, which means more money will be put into the T$$AA's pocket... A round-robin is the only thing that'll work if you want everyone to play in, and let me ask you something: Isn't the regular season two round-robins? Cause everyone plays everyone twice. So you want another round-robin, so lets just have everyone play each other 3 times in the regular season, and just take the top four in the standings to Regions, and do away with Districts... And another thing, the distict brackets aren't determined by the T$$AA. They are made up at the coaches meeting. So if you want to gripe at someone about the brackets, you should gripe to your daughter's coach.

    your new nickname is sideways

because you have a tendency to talk out both sides of your mouth.

and those two schools are not on top, university high is. and you posting has not been like family competition, it's been downright pitiful. you can tell how long it has been since cloudland and hampton had anything to play for. get fired up for the second seed. and furthermore you i would be happy to beating a team like unaka with four sophomores and three freshman dressing out on the varsity

Hate to defend him, but he said top in the county, not conferance.

  6. QUOTE(doctorj @ Feb 8 2007 - 11:51 PM) 826364568

Unaka could be remodeled and hold more... for a 1A gym it is almost perfect, especially the atmosphere. If you could make it hold enough to keep the fire marshall's nose out of it, there would be no need for a new one. Alot of classics in that place....

Yeah, I always thought that if they took out that wall facing the highway, they could put some bleachers on the baseline like they have at Unicoi... The locker rooms are already there, so they cound support the new seats and wall.

  7. SO are you an advocate of going to one classification?

Oh Lord no! I think it would be retarded for ALL the schools in Tennessee (from Carroll Academy enrollment 32 to McGavock enrollment 2,592) to compete against each other for just one state championship. I think the way we have it now works alright... But at the rate schools are joining the T$$AA, 4 classifacations might be in the works here in future, especialy if they reintagrate Division II back into Division I.

  8. QUOTE(bdfcnc_2005 @ Feb 8 2007 - 11:23 PM) 826364525

Central apparently beat Volunteer 70-61 tonight, which I believe sets up a 4/5 matchup in Bristol between those two teams.

Volunteer is a one of those teams you don't want to play in a win-or-go-home game.

  9. QUOTE(oleagle @ Feb 8 2007 - 10:26 PM) 826364412

CLOUDLAND AND HAMPTON: SHOULD BE A GREAT GAME, BUT NOT MANY PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO SEE THE GAME. THERE WON'T BE AN EMPTY SEAT IN THE HOUSE. MANY PEOPLE WON'T GO TO THE GAME KNOWING THIS. CLOUDLAND AND UNAKA NEED GYMS. HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN THESE TWO GYMS HOLD COMFORTABLE? 500-600? BUILD IT, WIN AND THE PEOPLE WILL COME.

Comfortably for Unaka, I'd say 700 to 800... Fire Marshall came before the 05 sub-state game and mesured it out, and I think he said Unaka could have 1,032 max... Of course that was with the bleachers they built along the baseline... Id say Cloudland holds no more than 600.... County shot down a plan for a new gym at Unaka last year I believe...

  10. QUOTE(Rangerbook06 @ Feb 8 2007 - 03:33 PM) 826363794

Kayla Winters, Kayleigh Elsea, Andrea Lewis (Unaka), Brooke Johnson, Shellie McKinney, Sydney Buchanan (Cloudland), Mariah Pietrowski (Elizabethton), Ali Gardener, Jennifer Edwards (Erwin), Courtney Byers, Summer Ward, Hether Hughes (Happy Valley), April Wilson (Johnson County), Josie McKinney, and Mikki Oliver (Hampton)...

That'd be a heckuva team right there... Imagine that team in two more years when they're seniors...

    C Mariah Pietrowskie

    PF Kalyla Winters

    SF Mikki Oliver

    SG Courtney Byers

    PG Brooke Johnson

How do you think that looks for a starting line-up for this team?... Krich?

  11. QUOTE(hamptonbigdogs @ Feb 8 2007 - 04:21 PM) 826363879

Congrats Adam signing with the Carson Newman Eagles. Thanks to all the coaches, family, friends and players for helping to make this happen. Keep up the hard work and keep God first in your life.

Congrats.... Who else in the area signed... I know Central had one go to Priceton, and D-B's Sensabaugh is going to Clemson.

  12. QUOTE(H-Town34 @ Feb 8 2007 - 03:54 PM) 826363839

i dont know if the earlier bost had to do w/ unaka, but they could improvise a little if players arent hustling they could be benched and the team could do just as good.

Wel that gets hard to do when you don't have many players to start out with... Unless you wanted to go Norman Dale and only play 4

  13. QUOTE(THE KING @ Feb 8 2007 - 07:26 AM) 826363077

One year doesn't mean anything you dim-witted retard. We owned you 25 years before that and it has been proven that Unaka is one of the worst educational facilities in the state. They almost shut the elementary down because of these problems. Students like you who were too busy picking old bubblegum out from under the desks and teachers who showed up to class, drunk. As for basketball, we've beat you 4 times in less than a year. In girls basketball we have twice as many titles in the last decade. Baseball and softball are just sports to pass the time until the big sports resume. Anything else? I believe I covered it all!

4 times in the past year, But only 8 times in the past 20 or so. Wow thats domination. Do you remember the mid 90's when Unaka was going to sub-states annualy, and Cloudland was getting owned by Clinch? Thats right! Cloudland was OWNED by Clinch ....

Oh, and do you think next fall Coach Ensor will use the 2nd half to just run the clock out on Cloudland so he dosen't absolutly blow you out like he did last year?

  14. QUOTE(THE KING @ Feb 8 2007 - 07:21 AM) 826363076

Rangerbook, you are truly hilarious!! You cut yourself down and the girls in your community. That just shows how much true education the Creekers have. Hey, I admit I was a drunk, but at least I could afford to drink the good stuff! Is your daddy one of those Pabst Blue Ribbon drinkers who abused you growing up? Did he catch your mom sleeping with his brother? This trully shows how pitiful the Ranger community has become when they have a little half-witted retard that represents them on this board. A WATER-BOY!! How pathetic is that. I've got news for you, little virgin. Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot about the abuse. The King and his Hampton allies are going to see to it that Ranger basketball is over. Learn to love it and Learn to live with it. The show is over.

Is that the best you and your AA buddies could come up with???

P.S.: My dad isn't from around here. Niether is my mom

  15. QUOTE(H-Town34 @ Feb 8 2007 - 11:26 AM) 826363364

my view on this matter is theres hope for players who are no good and players who do not hustle. coaches who put time in it and work with the weaker links on the team can mold them into contributors with a little individual help and preaching fundamentals, not turn them into star players but players you can put in the game that wont hurt the team. in reguards to players not playing hard, i think that a good coach will change that as well by successfully motivating their players and always pushing them to do better in practice (where it all starts) and week in and weekout before the games. i agree that the coach is blamed for loosing a little more than he should be whether he has a good team or not. however, a good coach can turn less talented teams into competitive teams, and inspire kids who wont play hard to play hard for 4 quarters. there may be some rare circumstances when a coach will have an absolutely nothing at schools like clinch that just dont have the ability or number of students in their school to choose from to beat a mediocre team, but i dont see any teams in carter county that lack the players to beat another team in carter co.; they may lack the coach. look at what coach smith has done at cloudland, that prooves what a difference a good coach makes... thats just my opinion.

I kinda agree with you there. Yes, you can work with players that have little talent and make them into a role player, but if they don't want to hustle, theres not a whole lot a coach can do about it. You could bench him, but you can't really afford to do that when you don't have strong numbers.

Highlander, Couldn't agree more. I'll try to get a list threaded by day's end. It's a tremendous group; a lot of future scholarships.

Kayla Winters, Kayleigh Elsea, Andrea Lewis (Unaka), Brooke Johnson, Shellie McKinney, Sydney Buchanan (Cloudland), Mariah Pietrowski (Elizabethton), Ali Gardener, Jennifer Edwards (Erwin), Courtney Byers, Summer Ward, Heather Hughes (Happy Valley), April Wilson (Johnson County), Josie McKinney, and Mikki Oliver (Hampton)...

  17. QUOTE(krichunaka @ Feb 7 2007 - 07:17 PM) 826362564

Several of us have had friendly wagers, which often leads to one or the other buying snacks or drinks, or both. Occasionally some of us have actually gone out to eat, and most always everyone buys their own; but since I know, and have a great deal of respect for the family in question, I extended a friendship offer for her. In spite of the pathetically inept, threatening tone, still I apologize.

Meanwhile, those who were actually in attendance last night saw a great game. Unaka made some adjustments to what beat them in Roan Mountain, and overcame several turnovers and dreadful free-throw shooting to win. It could've been worse for Cloudland, especially since they shot so dreadfully from outside, but again, Unaka didn't shoot so well either.

Krich, I don't know about the king, but I know I would like to thank you for all the time you put into covoring high school athletics.

  18. QUOTE(H-Town34 @ Feb 7 2007 - 06:05 PM) 826362473

just face it, unaka is the dumbest school in the county.... test scores proove it. i've got better things to do than post on coacht all night, so go study hard rangerbook and maybe, just maybe one day you will be the smartest creeker up there, and thats saying a whole lot..

Hampton: Refuge for the kids who couldn't cut it at Unaka

  19. 1/2 the size? definately not.

West Greene has about 600 kids

    Mo East- 1,321

    Mo West- 1,308

    Boone- 1,229

    Science Hill- 2,031

    D-B- 1,799

    Cocke County- 1,142

    Volunteer- 1,125

    Cherokee- 1,160

    Crockett- 1,390

    Sullivan South- 1,056

    Bristol- 1,178

    Jefferson County- 2,047

As you can see, all but three of Region 1's AAA teams are very close, if not much more than double the enrolment of West Greene.

Alabama has 7 different classifications. every other state has @ least 4

    Kentucky only has one.

  20. QUOTE(H-Town34 @ Feb 7 2007 - 05:52 PM) 826362462

most kids in cdc classes choose not to take the act... it is optional afterall. i figured you would have known that since you have an answer for everything else.

I know its optional. Its just more people at Unaka take the option to take the test... Anyway, you can't 100% base smarts off ACT scores. I've known some people with really high GPA's that didn't do too great on it, and then people with not that good a GPA do preety good on it.
