  1. I think you've got to take that 800m conversion to 1600 with a grain of salt. We've had plenty of sub 1:54 800m runners, e.i. Chuilli, who couldnt go 4:11. McGrath ran 1:48 but went 4:05. Then you've got Bumbi who ran 4:06 last year but only ran 1:54. It completely depends on the runner. Matt Hudson ran 1:55 last year and was like 4:37 for 1600 in a meet.
  2. When you're as good as Bumbalough is you should be thinking of a place that you know will develop you. Who is he gonna train with at UT? When pro is a possibility in the future, you want to run fast in college.
  3. The two of the guy's race. The one at the start and the one at the mile, and any others of the guys race too. olivertownsend@gmail.com
  4. Tennessee Runner, do you happen to have higher quality duplicates of those photos from the UTC Invitational? I'd like a few of those for my team DVD if you do.
  5. Did anyone hear this? Optimist is going to be held at the riverpark this year. Does anyone think that stinks? The riverpark isn't even a freaking cross country course, not in anyway. It's just grass, and you get to go around that turn near the sewer where you nearly break your ankle everytime. What happened to it being at Baylor? I love that course, going through the woods is awesome. Yeah, I practice on it everyday, but still. Cmon this is ridiculous.......Baylor could've held the meet one day earlier........no problem.
  6. 70, in singles all at about 7:00 pace with one 10miler at 8:00 pace.
  7. Coach Townsend here... Yes, James' race was a breakthrough, but his last month has been one as well. Remember, it takes years -winters and summers- to lay the foundations for these performances. James' iron was probably low all through track season, but we just got a handle on the problem this September. He has had a single-minded, grimly determined focus from even back to his freshman year.
  8. I know we've got some big Bradley and Mcminn supporters on this board, but lets here what everything thinks will happen team-wise at Optimist. Maybe without a senseless arguement.
  9. try adjusting your arms, often times it wont completely fix the pain, but it will make it much easier to endure-and if your leaning over favoring one side while you run that can often be a cause of not only lower back cramps but also terrible shoulder cramps. Try raising your arms like bumbi
  10. All it takes is dedication and being tough and sucking up the pain. You accomplish both of those and you'll be amazing.
  11. Let's hear who everyone thinks will prevail when it comes to Optimist.
