I understand the Catholic game will probably be the first game of the season and SH about 4 games into the year. Anyone heard about any changes in MEast schedule next year?

I am usually not one to predict scores but if Maryville performs like they did last night, it will be a Maryville win by no less than 14.

StarsnBars, you are right, I withdraw my statement about the 2003 defense. Actually I didn't recognize that Trojan team last night. However, unlike FBE in 2003 (and still), I concede immediately and acknowledge the laskluster performance last night by West was due in most part to the excellent performance of Maryville. Coach Quarles deserves all the respect he gets and so does the whole Maryville team. From a lifelong Trojan, Bring the gold ball back to Maryville and East Tennessee next week!!!!!! I will be pulling for the Rebels 100%. BTW, I believe MWest will have an open date next year since the Swain, N.C. series is over..........any chance of the the regular season match between Maryville and MWest back? Anyone know?

Thanks RR, FBE just can't accept the 2003 loss. Both teams had interrupted schedules that week and played on a less than perfect field that day (Cold as heck too!). Anyway, I look forward to a great game tomorrow night!!! I'd like to drive home from Maryville with a W!

Sorry it took a while to reply StarsnBars, work you know. My oldest played on the 03 defense (my youngest on this defense as a sophomore) and that is a mouthful but I believe it true. As for the schedule, the same except that we played KWest instead of Maryville this year so it stands to reason 2003 schedule was tougher. As I recall the regular season game between MWest and Maryville was a good game. MWest offense is a little different than what Maryville has been used to seeing, I'm sure film has shown that. Anyway, after catching up on all the posts the bottom line is the 2 best teams in East Tennessee will be playing Friday and that's the way it should be...... See if you can keep the temperature above freezing Friday night!!! LOL!

As I expected a lot of talk about history, even to the point MWest didn't "win" the 2003 game to advance. Anyway, this defense is as good as 2003's defense. The offense is probably a little better, in that they are more diverse.

Dang FBE, I wasn't going to post on this site yet but even though leectn as already pointed out the SoS, I must add MWest is ahead in the S+S ranking also. Rankings mean nothing at this point. ANYWAY, Maryville and MWest have this Friday to look toward.

Very well said 89. My oldest played his last high school (MWest) game at the castle 2 years ago. It was very difficult for him to think his playing days were over after 12 straight years. Fortunately he got a chance to continue playing in college. Both schools have great traditions and it will be a terrific atmosphere Friday night. I believe you will be impressed with the facilities at Burke-Tarr stadium, the field is great! All have a safe trip to Jefferson City!

My son was the NT for MWest in that game so I appreciate the above RR. Somewhat ironic he ended up living on the Maryville campus and becoming a Fighting Scot a couple of years later! I can tell you this game is still a topic of discussion there!! LOL!!! Anyway, I hope MWest and Maryville get the opportunity to play this year! Good Luck to both! BTW, Aubreys
