Butchie and I agree that the Rebels were the best 5-5 team we've seen last season. Got a good young QB coming into his own this season but we'll have to see how the other losses will be filled. Only time will tell. I'm just as upset that our long time play by play radio guy is stepping down too!!!! He's second to none and will be missed. The rest of the crew will still be intact I hope!!! As for the team, they need to focus on a game being 4 quarters long, not just 2 for starters.

Look forward to talking trader2. I went ahead last week and took the plunge into retirement. Going back to work is out of the question for me now. I really hoped to make it another few years but not to be. I'm only 8 months shy of full retirement but only gonna loose about $65 a month so I'm out of there!!!! My pension will cover that nicely. The Rebels are losing some good players!!! Do we have the young guns to step up and start a turnaround this season? We'll be looking at some first time starters in some key positions which could be interesting!!?? What say you Rebel Nation!!!!

Hogheaven, guess we'll just have to annoy ya'll too!!! If ya'll would just get a visitors parking lot at the "Pig Pen" ya'll wouldn't have so much contact with us anyway!!! At least I usually have a pre-game meet and greet with the Lion fans before games we're both at. Last time that happened at a Huntingdon game was (I think) 1937!!!!!

NCSdad1962, I always try to keep up with the recovery of kids injured in the games that I hear about. They have happened to me and close to me and it's supportive to know that someone out there, even unknown folks, care. It's good to hear that he's back to school and active. Let us know when he's fully recovered.

You are all correct on stopping most any offense....particularly the old offenses. It's just VERY hard to do if you don't see it every day in practice, I grew into my football career against the T and wing T. Everybody ran it that didn't still run the Single Wing. Milan has made semi-history in football running the straight T formation. UC stepped it up a notch with the veer. Great things go in cycles. Most of this stuff is not new, it's just resurrected, Wildcat = Single Wing and all the others are what they are. If you only see it once a season, good luck!!!! Hope for a BUNCH of turnovers in your favor.

I have to jump in here and say that both the Trousdale and Adamsville programs have always shown class when we played them. We have played Adamsville several times and they were always a good opponent. We played Trousdale once in the semi's in '08 and other than the fact we came up short by one TD and likely would have collected a Gold Ball that season otherwise, they were good opponents. Just one thing Trouserdale, if we ever have to play again, ya'll need to come over here to the swamp to play us. The creekbank was too bland for us.

Does that mean he no longer has an Interest in TN football. No I didn't get that message but it shouldn't change the faithfulness of a fan. I could move to Alaska and I'd still be a McKenzie Rebel fan!!!

wildcat89, that is good advice to initially to impede the veer but once the opponent see's what you are doing with that there are 3 more ways they can beat you. I will agree with one thing though. The key to stopping the veer is with the linebackers and cornerbacks. Actually like all sports it comes down to 11 players doing their job. One could argue the merits of numerous defensive alignments to defend it.

Well dadgum ya'll. Over the years Roy and I have exchanged a few shots all in fun and I never took it any other way. All my comments with Old Pirate have always been respectful. and there were many of them in '07. I've talked with several others on here that are saying they have pulled an Elvis and "Left the building". Now true, I'm one of those dreadful westenders that don't rattle ya'll cage much 'till playoff time but seriously???? Hate to see Roy or any of you others leave the site over this mess. Hate to see anyone leave the site over a few bruised feelings. Heck, I'd been gone a long time ago if that was the case. There's likely a few that wish I was gone too. I know one thing for sure, I'd HATE to have CoachT's job with this site OR any of the moderators. I've seen quite a few posters respond well to a bit of chastisement from a Mod and they wear the change well. Like the man said, if you don't want to depend on a moderator to handle your pet peeve, message CoachT yourself and let him make the call. There are only a couple of websites that I feel a need to be on and this is one of 'em. You may whizz me off OR I may whizz you off but I'll always be civil. It really isn't that hard to do. And Roy and OP always were with me. Way to go Union City!!!!

Thanks to T$$AA, I only got to watch 4 of the 8 games in Cookville this year. Appears that the coverage was given to the highest bidder this time. I did get to see UC's game and the Adamsville game but not the Henry Co. game which pretty much didn't set well with me OR the cable customers in Paris/Henry Co. But at least I got to listen to that game on the radio. I did want to watch the Maryville game too but that wasn't a big issue for me. I agree that UC should definitely be ranked pre-season #1 in 2014! Knowing UC folks, they probably prefer that not happen but................................... It was fun to see how much UC improved after McKenzie played them and watch the Tornado's put it all together in the playoffs especially at Cookville. I love watching the veer run well. Heck, in another game I even was treated to watching the wing T run well and that is definitely a retro offense from back in my playing days in the '60/'s. Again, congrats to Union City (and Henry Co.) and a good game to Adamsville. Hope the Cardinals have to go thru my Rebels to get back there next season.

Well, tha Duck finally got here!! Congratulations to my neighbors from Union City for bringing the Gold ball back west!!! Great game ya'll. An impressive win for a fact. If ya'll keep up the work you could well repeat next season. Congrats to SPitt for once again making it to the show.
