  1. I still think it comes down to Duanah getting enough touches. The other BIG question mark are Betsy's lines. That has been a long time problem.
  2. This game should show if the Betsy lines, D & O, can take some real pressure. SHs D last year made the Cyclones O line look slow and weak, which they were as a team. I hope a year changes things but I see them having problems if SH has some 'meat' in the middle and some speed at Tackle. Last season's SHs team exposed several flaws in the Cyclones but they were never addressed. If so, Anderson needs to stay in the pocket with no more than a 3 step drop. He looked good against a down HV team although he has the 'stuff' if protected. Besty's RBs can get it done if they get a chance from the line. Carr look good and has learned to cut it up the field. On defense, the Cyclones hit well but there wasn't a Duanah on the field or a solid O line to go against. That Duanah kid is stout and I expect a talented D line and a good set of LBs to back them up from SH. I think Betsy is in trouble if Duanah gets the touches he should have during the game. Hope to hear from you Topvol48! Thanks.......
  3. Guess I got some bad info. Duanah should get 25 touches per game. Period. 'Nuff said. The kid is a powerful RB.
  4. Didn't see SH play but got some good input from friends. Sounds to me like Dunnah(?) at RB and T. Hill at QB put together a nice drive for SH. Did the RB trully only get 7 carries? IF so, that is NUTS. SH's bread and butter should be the RB and seems from what I heard, he was complimented well by Thomas but for only 1 series. Someone straighten me out?? As far as the Cyclones......... alot of you guys are right. It will depend on the line, especially the O side of the ball. Anderson can throw and #21 has learned to cut it up the field. All they need is time from the line. Still a ?? and Friday night they have a chance to prove themselves against a very descent SH defense.
  5. I left a bit early but it was 24-6, Cyclones. Puddin', please be advised that Betsy has a 'foot' this season (of course they had him last season but wouldn't let him kick). He nailed a few extra points as well as a 30yd FG (or there abouts). The Cylcones seemed to overwhelm the Warriors in the first half and ran clock the second half. Halftime score was 24-0. To HVs credit, their guys never gave in and played hard the entire game. Good opener for the Cyclones but now comes some stiff comp. Good luck and good job to Wes Anderson!
  6. I can't stand it. I think I'll drive down for this one. I miss my buddies........ getinthere, voice & crew
  7. Here I sit 4 hrs away from Elizabethton and I can hear the 'smack' being talked in the parking lots from here. Friday night LIGHTS SPECIAL IN CARTER COUNTY!! We'll see who can MAN UP! Betsy by 14
  8. DT & linebacker...... 'bout what I figured. Like I said earlier........... it will take time. Give it some. Witten has alot of new stuff going on and it will take time to instill things with the players. No doubt, the trickle down effect will take hold over the next few years. GO CYCLONES!
  9. Remind me............ what position was 52 playing?
  10. Witten is putting in 'his footprint', thank goodness. Give him some time and good things will happen. He won't settle for less and that is good to see, but it will take time and 'his experience' coming thru his players. That will happen but not overnight. Good things are happening, slowly but surely, for Cyclone Football. You have to keep in perspective where the program was led the last few years. Witten has a long way to go. GO CYCLONES!!
  11. GO CYCLONES!! The line has to protect and block. Sounds familiar.
  12. Elizabethton will do well on defense. On offense, if Wes is protected, he throws well. Recievers have to have good hands along with a long lost running game which will go as the line goes. GO CYCLONES! ps..... where are you 'Get'?
  13. Been waiting for a Falcon thread to start up. You guys are slow at the gun this season. You have scrimmaged Elizabethton. How did that go? You have a top-notch coach and I think you are headed in the right direction. Knowing that numbers mean quite a bit at this level, how are the numbers going and how much experience comes back from a good start for Coach Rider last season? Good luck.....
  14. Thanks 'madman'I'm long distance but have a bunch of guys out there I want to see do well and have fun.
  15. Sorry, I thought they had scrimmaged a couple of times already. Update us......... GO CYCLONES!
  16. ALL quiet on the Cyclone 'front'. Any scrimmage news to speak of or are we not speaking. How about you 'Get'?
  17. Good to see that Witten will get in your 'grill'. Stark departure from the babysitting the last few years. GO CYCLONES!
  18. Sounds like another good hire. Congradulations........ GO CYCLONES!
  19. And I remain a Cyclone who stands behind the players and this current revival of a true Cyclone Coaching Staff. IMAVOL, I don't know who the better QB is/was, but I do know that they are two different players and each could/can hold thier own. Both tough. Both willing to lay it on the line for their teammates. P did all he could for the TEAM last season while a couple of parents cried about 'stat building'. I know exactly who those people where and the 'names' they tried to hide behind on CoachT. What a joke. P would gladly have taken negative stats in trade for 'W's at any time last year. If you don't know that you don't know him or me. I trully believe that Shawn will pull the rest of the team around him and have them all laying it on the line for each other. That, friend, is the only way to bring back the Cyclones. P & I stand behind Wes Anderson 110% and always have. He is made of the right 'metal'. A great young man and a friend and that is strait from 'The Good Shepperd'. Cyclones, stand tall with your leader and QB and make Elizabethton a proud football town! GO CYCLONES!!
  20. Weems was part of the 'More to Come'. There may be one more 'bomb' dropping back on Elizabethton. Good luck! And yes Fan, Weems helped provide stability and some coaching smarts to the Cyclone camp. Thanks Coach.
  21. Hey, thanks Hustle. I know last season's QB was a dandy game in and game out so that has to be one of the biggest question-marks. Bishop was a beast running the ball and one of the most impressive things to note last season was the strength of the team as a whole. Good luck and I'll be keeping an eye!
  22. I have to agree on that one Cap.
  23. They've been banned from the board. Even the 'big' kids.
