  1. QUOTE(refchaser @ Mar 2 2007 - 10:45 AM) 826396736[/snapback]Frothing??? Geeze. You saw it, perhaps, but you were not close enough to detect frothing because there was none. I have apologized to every parent and player there for being a bad role model. I apologized to the authroities and to the administration at that school. I have had many people to thank me for caring so much, but what I did was WRONG and I REGRET it. Just because a person has supporters does not make their actions right. I can not hit the "rewind" button and undo what I did. All I can do is try to do better. I believed our player was fouled. I was upset because she was hurt (torn acl) and the refs refused to call anything. I don't have children of my own, so ALL of them feel like my kids. I always clap for the other team when being introduced, I clap for the other team's cheerleaders when they perform a special dance or routine and I cringe when any player is hurt, just like the rest of you. I am not trying to make myself sound good, just trying to let you know that the shameful action you saw on my part was not what I am about entirely. Please remember that no one is as bad as the worst thing they've ever done. "He who is without sin cast the first stone."

Well, I have to say, you served as a pretty good rold model to me...in fact I can recall having numerous conversations with you about basketball and everything else both while I was on the team and even now since I have graduated. They'll forget what ya did and be bashing the next person again in a few weeks, so no worries! You could have went out there and shook the refs hands and then they would have been talking about how you were brown nosing the refs, people just need something to talk about.

With the talent he has had since he took over, any coach in the area could have done just as well, --some better.

He had to develop some of that talent....not all kids are born with natural ability.

  3. Coaches are teachers when they are at school. They are also teachers when they are on the basketball court. However, the difference is, a kid who is playing basketball can walk out, quit, opt out, etc at any time they want to. They don't have to take this so called humiliation...so it can't be that bad or they wouldn't put up with it. This is why there is a different standard for teachers as opposed to coaches. Kids have to go to school, they have to sit in a classroom...they don't have to play sports!

  4. Come on guys...players quit all the time. I know Emmy and Coach Willard very well and because Emmy is a high caliber player it is automatically the coaches fault. I played for this guy for my high school career...and he is an old school coach. He believes in yelling and all that stuff that is frowned upon today. The bottom line is, Emmy's decision to quit does not automatically mean that the guy is a terrible coach, bad person, or poor mentor. I mean look at some of your post last year, some of you that are commenting on the subject this time around, were hailing him as coach of the year this time last year.

  5. I have to agree about Jennifer, I would say she is probably the most under rated player on the team, but she did a great job today, as did everyone else of course. I wish the team the best of luck, I'll be there watching on Friday as a proud former lady eagle.

Realistically, Friday will be tough for Jackson County, too

  6. Tonight is the championship, but I think last night game against PC and ST was the game. It's a shame that three powerhouses in the region got put in the same bracket. How does that work out? Any of the other two teams could have been going on if they were in the other bracket. No offense, I have never seen Richland play and I am sure they have a great ball club.

  7. Summertown's coach preaches in your face defense, and anything less is unacceptable. Also, it is good to see that the scoring has been very distributed, as someone else said earlier, not one true star, but everyone is stepping up. Good luck guys!!

  8. I played AAU with Kori Knight and she is a great athlete. When I played with her she was only a freshman in high school and already had trendous talent. She has only gotten better with each year. She is a very well rounded person and great to be around. She is looking to play college ball and why not? Any college team would greatly benefit from her.

  9. This will definitely be a close game. As for Summertown being tired because of any kind of press, this won't happen. If they lose it will not be because they have only eight players, because it only takes five to win. They are probably in the best condition of any team is the district. I think Coach Willard will have his team prepared and more than ready for this one. Good Luck Summertown!!!
