  1. Well, I have to say, you served as a pretty good rold model to me...in fact I can recall having numerous conversations with you about basketball and everything else both while I was on the team and even now since I have graduated. They'll forget what ya did and be bashing the next person again in a few weeks, so no worries! You could have went out there and shook the refs hands and then they would have been talking about how you were brown nosing the refs, people just need something to talk about. -Jaco
  2. He had to develop some of that talent....not all kids are born with natural ability.
  3. Coaches are teachers when they are at school. They are also teachers when they are on the basketball court. However, the difference is, a kid who is playing basketball can walk out, quit, opt out, etc at any time they want to. They don't have to take this so called humiliation...so it can't be that bad or they wouldn't put up with it. This is why there is a different standard for teachers as opposed to coaches. Kids have to go to school, they have to sit in a classroom...they don't have to play sports!
  4. Come on guys...players quit all the time. I know Emmy and Coach Willard very well and because Emmy is a high caliber player it is automatically the coaches fault. I played for this guy for my high school career...and he is an old school coach. He believes in yelling and all that stuff that is frowned upon today. The bottom line is, Emmy's decision to quit does not automatically mean that the guy is a terrible coach, bad person, or poor mentor. I mean look at some of your post last year, some of you that are commenting on the subject this time around, were hailing him as coach of the year this time last year.
  5. Tamia Tucker from Summertown has got to be one of the tops
  6. I just would like to say congrats to the Lady Rockets from D-12. No one thought you guys would make it that far, way to show everyone up. Congrats again!!!
  7. I have to agree about Jennifer, I would say she is probably the most under rated player on the team, but she did a great job today, as did everyone else of course. I wish the team the best of luck, I'll be there watching on Friday as a proud former lady eagle. Realistically, Friday will be tough for Jackson County, too
  8. As a former player for him, I can vouch that his players respect him, but he also respects his players. He has so much passion for the game and he really knows how to teach it. Good luck to him and the lady eagles next week!
  9. Tonight is the championship, but I think last night game against PC and ST was the game. It's a shame that three powerhouses in the region got put in the same bracket. How does that work out? Any of the other two teams could have been going on if they were in the other bracket. No offense, I have never seen Richland play and I am sure they have a great ball club.
  10. what do you mean, can not beat summertown, you say that negatively toward summertown?
  11. I guess that's what happens when you purposefully throw the game to get into the bracket ofyour choice. They had a good season though.
  12. Congrats Em, since I know you read these posts!!! Sorry I couldn't make it to the game on Tuesday but I see it was a great one. Congrats again and good luck with the rest of the season to all the lady eagles -Jake
  13. i second the Gene McBee vote. Anyone who is from or has ever been to a Summertown game when he was coach, knows that he can throw a real fit.
  14. Leah Haddock is the best player ever to come out of Summertown. She played in the mid to late 90s
