  3. Should be a great game. Both teams started the season a bit rocky, but that's behind them both. Just like coach Bowden said a few minutes ago: it doesn't really matter what happened before the game, with this rivalry it'll all come down to who wants it the most. Rockwood has the players who've been in winning programs for a while and they all know what it takes to keep that winning edge. Kingston, on paper, has the advantage, but individuals don't take precedence over the team especially in this heated county rivalry. Could go either way, but I'm rooting for my old alma mater...Go Tigers! Pride isn't the right word, but it's the first one that comes to mind.

    Rockwood Tennis

Rockwood is extremely dedicated to the courts. The athletes are practicing everyday getting better. I think this could be a good season for Rwood fuzzyball, can we say regional champs?
  5. Like I said before, a few of the athletes who attend these private schools were sent primarily for atheltic purposes. A friend of my fathers, DJ, sent his son to a Knoxville school so he could get more exposure. However, it comes down to the parents and who they know. The kid left after elementary school, for TMSAA atheletics. Whether being recruited or not, the talent is weeded away from the public schools, who have to depend more on circumstance and luck than the privates do with accomodation and simply being a private, exclusive school. Psychology plays a vital role in the parental decision as well as the program strength. Private school are expected to have better facilities and programs, but a "rose in the concrete" as Tupac so eloquently put it, can raise up against adverstity, and shine in a hostile environment. Just as Rwood is expecting..
  6. See Thread: "Rockwood v. CPA (public-private debate)"
  7. First, you logic is flawed. The kids don't (for the most part) choose to go to the schools. Usually the parents of the students choose for them either through networking within the school or a personal bias towards public schooling, which is just fine and dandy if that's their thing. However, being that some parents are strict athletic buffs, they will send their student to a 'non-recruiting' (if that even exists) private school primarily for athletics. In no way are we public'ers at an advantage when it comes to that. I know of a very real scenario of athleticism being a primary focus and reason for a student to go to a prominent private school in kville and will share if the time is appropriate, but for now that's not the point i'm trying to make. I would like to state that Rockwood, a school of just over 400 does not have the advantage say a 3A school would in basketball (e.g. Oak Ridge, Maryville) Where as a private school based on location (usually inside larger metro areas) do. So you should stop trying to defend that which is completely erroneous. Be real with yourself man, Private schools naturally have a better selection than do smaller public schools, but that does not make them unbeatable. With the luck and talent we've been graced with this year at Rwood, we're ready, and will be there in full force Wednesday...Just keep lookin over us...
  8. Rockwood will never get respect until they take it. Never is respect earned anymore. No, never. Only though preserverance will the Tiger's rise again to the grandeur days of yore. And rising with them will be teh Gold Ball...
  9. This matchup Should be interesting. Can Davis and his Tiger Tower counterparts (Bow, Pryor, Allen, Richardson) control the boards against CPA's speed and sheer talent? Time will reveal teh answers... Just a quick inqiuiry though. Is it true that the president of TSSAA has a son that coaches for one of these east tennessee private schools? Rumor has it that he does..
  10. GO Rockwood TIGERS!!!!!!!one thing i am suprised in the Rockwood tigers is there fan section......they have good sportsmanship and they have a great cheering section...................................
  11. Rockwood go tigers!!!!!wow state here we come GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Okay, all you experts, sports enthusiasts and just downright gabbers. Time to break down the Rockwood-CPA game. So: 1. Who will will (must post)? 2. What will be the deciding factor in this game? 3. How will the teams react with respect to their history in the State tourney; that is will the hype have an adverse effect on the game or outcome for either team? 4. What role will the gym and fan support play in deciding the winner? 5. After the first round of the State tournament will the winners give any indication of what TSSAA needs to do to clear up the Public/Private school controversy? Have at it..
  13. Rockwood Tigers' Coach P. Kamikawa... No questions asked, "Dadgummit!"
  14. Looks like the public private debate will flare up again after next wednesday. It will be such a shame if the four private schools are left. And hopefully a very large indicator to TSSAA that the separation needs to be implemented, or at least the multiplier needs to be used ASAP. Just gotta keep hopin' Rwood will oust CPA and kill the debate.
  15. Rockwood and CPA are the two teams left in State single A that were ranked coming into the tournament. I believe now that Rockwood is ranked up 8th from 9th and CPA up from 2nd to 1st. Should be a great game.
