  1. The kid who wears #19 for DB is Joe Erwin. He is a junior strong safety and will lay a lick. He is also the backup QB.
  2. Lamon really does stand about 6'3". He is a very big kid, with some pretty impressive breakaway speed. What sets him apart from other recievers is his jumping ability. I have seen him score 4 times this year by simply going up over someone for a jump ball in the endzone. The other thing to remember is that he is only a sophomore. I have heard that the Merritt kid from Maryville is good, but other than that, I'd go with Lamon Williams.
  3. If that is true, then it is one of the better things I have heard in a while. I played in six of those games (including the playoffs), and there is not a better rivalry in the state. That is some very good news.
  4. You are definitely right firefly. Lamon Williams is nasty. He might end up doing some really special things before he moves on. He's 6'3", 185 lbs. and can scoot too. If he can keep his nose clean, which from talking to him, I think he definitely will, the sky is the limit.

I just wanted to let firefly know that his post was greatly appreciated. Well spoken also.(I guess he can't correct the spelling this time)

Well I'll be, I spelled another word wrong. It had to have been Mears' fault.

Nope, we didn't win it that year either, but we came as close as we ever have. Mears definitely needs to play better than he did Friday, but he is a solid QB. Dingus was a great QB, probably better than Mears. I am tired of arguing with another supposed DB fan over whether they are good or not. Obviously you are agaisnt the Indians, or you wouldn't dog the team and say that they are going to do bad. You might need to change you screen name. Thanks BUD for putting this character in his place.

Sorry big BOY, I graduated a couple of years before 2000. Sorry to spoil the fun for ya. And by the way, our defense wouldn't have been on the field that long, we would have stopped them. Oh yeah, a friend of mine named Josh Dingus led us to and undefeated regular season in 98'. I figured you wouldn't remember him. I'm sorry your days in the hall of DBHS were bad, and you got picked on, but please don't come on here acting like you know what you are talking about. Peace.

First off, if you graduated from DB in 2000 like your name suggests, then you definitely should not be callin me a kid. No, actually Mears and I aren't real good friends, in fact Nick Vaughn and I were better friends, and even he will tell you he wasn't a very good QB. DB could still match his win/loss record as a QB, even with the season they are having. It truly is great to see a DB dogging his own team like this. That's just the kind of fans that DB needs tomorrow night in the stands. DBAlumni2000, you truly have amazed me in your comments from your last post (especially the Smith and Vaughn part, lol). Oh yeah, one more thing. I played defense for Graham Clark, and we were a pretty good one at that, so don't think for a minute that I am saying the defense is terrible. They are very young, as is the offense. I am very anxious to recieve yoru next post. (I tried my hardest to check my spelling, maybe I should blame Brent Mears for that too?)

You don't even remotely sound like a DB fan. You need to change you screen name as far as I am concerned, coming on here dogging a player about his team and his QB. Thats real cool. You are just the kind of person that Db needs around right now. I bet if DB was 4-0, you would be on here talking about Brent Mears for Mr. Fottball. There is no place for people like you around high school football, especially DB football. Pack your bags. ROLL TRIBE!!!!!
  11. I don't know, but it sounds like somebody is trying to make this an East vs. West thing. That can't be good. P.S......"I love livin in tha hills." TRIBE1

I don't have any clue where you are getting the information to decide that Brent Mears is a terrible QB. That kid is the only reason why DB hasn't lost every game this year. He almost won the MBA game by himself. That really upsets me that a DB fan (who I presume has been to the games) would get on here and dog their QB, who happens to be leading the conference in passing. Brent Mears is so much better than Scott Butler was that it is not even funny. He runs the option better, he throws a better ball, he has better arm strength, and he makes better decisions. He just doesn't have Chris Henry and Gerald Sensabaugh to throw the ball to. You have really upset me with those comments.
  13. Greeneville beat DB tonight 19-10. It was a wild game, with DB's star tailback Jacob McMillan getting ejected and having to sit out next week vs. Jeff. County. It was the first time Greeneville has beaten DB in 12 tries. The Indians didn't look good at all tonight. A DB team hasn't looked like this in a while. I think they will be alright, and Clark will take care of any discipline problems. Roll Tribe!!!
  14. If only that was so. Roll Tribe!!!!
  15. The new alumni center at DB is going to be absolutely incredible. There won't be too many (if any) non private school facilities like it in the state. A few of Kingsports "higher standing" citizens and DB alumni have gotten this together. It will be incredible if it is anything like the plans.
  16. Tripp is up here at UT now and is one of my good friends. I never knew him in high school as I am from the other end of the state but I have heard he used to run the show at USJ. He isn't playing football, but he still has the athletic ability.

    DB

Db came out in the second half started playing like themselves. Since McMillan was out, and his backup out for the year, two sophomores were running the ball and both of them really made themselves look real good and terrible by fumbling the ball 3 times each. Brent Mears(QB) and Lamon Williams (WR) carried the team with Mears throwing 4TDs, 3 of them to Williams. The linebackers looked pretty weak, but that will improve if coach Vance has anything to do with it. DB hasn't had a weak linebacking corps in a long time. Don't get me wrong, South is a team on the rise, but they just can't keep up with DB's speed.(The same story every year) How did the Hamilton kid play against Betsy?

    DB

Dobyns-Bennett is up 14-7 on Sullivan South at halftime. They seem to be struggling with the Rebels. Were down 7-0 until two quick scores right before the half. We'll see.
  19. The DB vs. South game is tonight so I won't have to wait to continue in my fantasy world until about 7:30 this evening. MBA may not be good this year, but they sure did beat a decently solid DB team and the almighty Riverdale in a scrimmage. I guess the whole state must just stink this year except for Jeff. Co. The person who is Major Hoople is about as close to DB's program as anybody, so maybe, just maybe he could be trying to get the Indians fired up for the game.(He only does this every year) Look for DB to throw the ball all over the place on South. It's just the speed advantage. Roll Tribe!!!!!!!
  20. Thank you once again fbwiz for your great insight to absolutely nothing. If you anything about DB football, then you would know who decides what Major Hoople predicts. South's freshman team beat DB the other night so watch out, the reign is over, right? DB did lose a hard fought game to a good MBA team last Friday, and in the process lost their supposed "best player" for this game and their starting strong safety for the season, but DB will not start out 0-2 especially by losing to South. Major Hoople is no football predicting genious like you fbwiz, so maybe you should see if you could take over for him. I know we would all enjoy that greatly. Oh yeah, how are those Patriots looking?
  21. That was one of the most hard fought football games I have ever witnessed at any level. Neither theam deserved to lose that one, but congratulations to MBA for having a little more fight left in them in the end. They went to the same play over and over, but DB just couldn't stop it. DB showed some weakness without McMillan (who only bruised his ankle from what I hear) and the starting strong safety Walker Throp(he tore his ACL). Everyone seemed very classy throughout, and I wish the Big Red nothing but the best this year. Roll Tribe

DBFOOTBALL63, I have seen you on the field, I just had thought the last person to wear #63 was one of those wild outside linebackers from 2000-2001(I believe it was Holt), and I had forgotten anybody else had it yet. Best of luck to you and the rest of the squad this year. ROLL TRIBE!!!!!

    DB Scrimmage

I don't know the exact scores of any of the three scrimmages, but I know they killed Sullivan North, Them and Morristown West played real even, and they beat Knox. Central. Morristown West looked pretty solid out ot the 4A ranks though. Db looked very solid though.
