  1. I believe the homerun total came out to be 6... all in Sunday's games. (Drew Burrows, 2, Tim Markum, Zack Woods, Ryan Jones, Brad Loy) Overall, I think we came out to play some baseball today and showed what were really capable of by beating a good Walker Valley team. Everybody contributed at the plate and the defense was fundamentally sound. Notre Dame seemed very run down, and definitely was at a loss for pitching, but they also seem to have a promising future ahead of them. WAY TO GO, OWLS!
  2. They were a tough bunch, stuck through it to the end... didn't have too much size, except for their big first basemen. Goes to show you if you let a team hang around and stay in the ball game they could take advantage of it, and Marion County did.
  3. I believe this decision was made at the umpire's discretion, but yes, it is understandable in our sake to rest our pitchers... just can't stand TIES!!!
  4. Marion County is a scrappy ball club, but it doesn't surprise me they beat Central... believe me... but hats off to Marion County because they proved they could hang with tough teams such as Ooltewah....
  5. Yes, unfortunately the score was 6-6 in 7 innings... time ran out.... is there any rule against not playing the game out in tournament play, IF, and only IF, no games are to be played after that current game?
  6. I believe Nic finished with 8 K's... I kept the book , we started out crushing the ball but faded out a little bit, then came back tough with 3 runs in the seventh. A win's a win, glad we got the first one under the belt.
  7. Hey OwlsGK30, I'll be out there supporting you guys when I'm not on the diamond....
  8. You can spell, c'mon now, Daniel TACK-ling. Not Tack-LAND.... despite Ooltewah's woes so far in their scrimmages, a bright spot in their lineup has been sophomore Daniel Feagens...
  9. I'd go to church and pray for you guys... but we all know why I don't go... haha thumb
  10. Yeah, looks like the game may be moved to Turner Field (in Walker Valley, of course, sorry catsbackr, WES MAC doesn't play for WV so we can't see him pitch at the Turner Field, haha). Our field is soaked....
  11. Heard from an inside source that the game was.... ah, UGLY.
  12. Could it be possible that I sense jealousy from the older brother of Ooltewah freshmen Daniel Tackling? Getting worried that little bro might steal some of the spotlight..... eh?
  13. Being from Ooltewah, I've had the chance of watching juniors Matt Lowe and Michael Spence play together on the field and it seems like they know how to lead a team, on and off the field. Along with Luke Gawthrop, I believe they were named as this year's captains. They were main contributors on last year's team and I expect good things from them this year as well. What players from other schools carry their teams?
  14. I guess you can look like whatever you want if you win a state championship.... I wouldn't count on Walker Valley... apparently Coach Turner's last year since his son is moving off to Mississippi State next year, so they'll be gunning for it.
  15. I would just like to mention that GradFromTheNest is indeed my hero....
  16. Weather permitting.... the Mustangs from Walker Valley travel to Hooterville to take on the Owls.... should be a good matchup. Anybody hear anything about Chris Jenkins from WV? Heard he was returning this year after quitting last year....
  17. nokona2 I was at the game where KB hit that shot.... looked brutal, then again hardly anyone saw it because of the way our field was layed out... but with our new improvements, should be able to see something like that from the stands now, LOL!
  18. Welch, are you left handed and do some pitching? I'd say our staff is pretty deep... watch for Nic Robinson this year, I think he might be the most underrated pitcher on our staff... blazing heater with a decent deuce.
  19. I was impressed with Basham when we played Bearden.... I'd go ahead and say that Markum could probably start at any other school around Chattanooga. Brad's just a senior, and like Grad said, he has a slight defensive edge..... but you'll see Tim DH or in the outfield some, even takes some reps at first.
  20. Ooltewah has Jones, along with Kyler Burke, Tim Markum, Hunter Hydas, and Drew Burrows in their outfield....
  21. Oh yeah, I wish the best of luck to him and the rest of the Soddy Daisy baseball team, they carry themselves well, and after all, they did make an appearance in last year's state tournament, gotta envy that. But I do believe if anybody contends with Ooltewah it will be Soddy... I don't see enough firepower in Red Bank.
  22. Will someone please flatout state the facts? Ibleedblueandgold, your obviously a huge advocator for Wes Mac, but the fact is, this kid is a junior, he has yet to make a name for himself. If I were him, I'd be embarassed if someone were talking me up like people are on here. Actions speak louder than words, so let him prove it to us on the field...
  23. The Hammer... Ryan Coburn, a sophomore, has totally blown out his arm. He did a lot of throwing last year and it has caused major tendinitis in his elbow. Jeremy Woods isn't on varsity, why, I'm not too sure. Ryan Williams will bring a lot of positive attributes to our team this year, with mainly the fact that yes, the boy can flat out run.
  24. Our catcher is Brad Loy, I'm sure you've seen him mentioned... he signed with Young Harris, a school in Georgia. I was undecided about Farragut's staff... it just seemed Catapano had the most impressive stuff and nothing really stood out to me, but then again, it was the first look of the year... never know, we could see you guys later on this year thumb And ERBaseball7, check out Ooltewah's schedule on the website: http://www.ooltewahbaseball.com
