  1. Can the admirals stop the 3 headed monster that the cherokees have developed? The cherokees come into this game with a above average running game....they have speed and they have play makers. The OL is the best I have seen in recent years. On defense they have speed and average size. The kicking game is a huge ?? for this team. The punter has been productive but not pretty. The place kicker is a good athlete that is 50/50 at best. Farragut has been a thorn in the side of McMinn over the years much like McCallie. Can McMinn defend the pass and can Farragut slow down the running attack of McMinn? McMinn 21 Farragut 17 GO TRIBE!!
  2. Tried to recruit a soccer player but all the good ones play club soccer in the fall. Apparently Bo interviewed one of the female soccer players and she was actually very capable of making extra points and field goals from 25-30 yards. But in the end that idea got scratched. You would think in a school with 1500 students they could find one kid who could come to practice 2-3 times a week that they could depend on making extra points. It actually is embarrasing with the kickers McMinn has produced over the years (Stansell & Bailey) that the kicking game is not strong every year.
  3. I say so goes the QB so goes the team this year. Good size and athletic ability on both lines and speed in the back field. The secondary is a bit under developed at this point but has potential. My concern is the kicking game without a consistent place kicker you are at risk of losing the close game. I am going out on a limb and say the Cherokees go 9-1 in the regular season and win their district again. Good luck Cherokees! GO TRIBE!!!
  4. I heard that #5 Lindsey was getting some attention from UT....but other than that I cant imagine another D1 prospect that is a senior that they could be lookin at. Maybe they are coming to see the horse and listen to the PA man say first down Chhhheeeeeerrrrrroooookkkkkkkkeeeesssss over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over!!!!
  5. Wow....what a great evening for high school football! The sun is out here in Athens....temps expected to be in the low 50's at kick off. The field is in excellent condition.....the OR players wont bounce off it to bad when they get the hammer dropped on them...lol. The horse will be in action but maybe not down the center of the field....the problem with the horse is not the poop but when it slows down or changes direction it tends to take huge divots out of the field. I heard at lunch that UT is expected to be in attendance....not sure who they are looking at but there mere presence will generate excitement.
  6. I believe the number of play makers is a strength. McMinn has 5 players that can take it to the house so it makes it difficult for defenses to key on one or two players. I also believe the overall team speed is a strength. Special teams play has been a pleasent surprise this year with both the punter and place kicker doing there job with no critical mistakes thus far. The team size is a weakness but has not been exploited this year like I thought it might be. Againist Farragut and Bradley I looked for those teams to line up with twin TE and run it north and south. Farragut had limited success. On the absense of our senior QB.....I dont if it is going to be a strength or weakness for this week? You can look at it a couple of ways...1) You lose the experience of a senior signal caller and a pretty good athlete. 2) Or you can look at it like the entire team will be more focused and the two players that are going to receive the majority of the snaps are quicker which acts as another ball carrier that the defense is going to have to account for. If I had my preferences I would prefer to have Simbeck in there because of his experience. I look for alot of misdirection from the Cherokees tonight with #2 Sanders and #7 Nevins playing a major role at RB and WR. I also think you might see a "Cherokee" package for #5 Lindsey or #15 Simpson. Regardless I dont see the game plan changing much from what has been done the last few weeks....get the ball to your playmakers in space and play bend but dont break defense. GO TRIBE!!!
  7. Question for the OR fans: 1) What type of scheme do they run on offense 2) What allignment is typical while on defense 3) OR strengths 4) OR weakness
  8. Great.....we will take him! Like Bruce Pearl motto "If you cant beat them then just cheat them".
  9. Appeal for Simbeck was denied by the TSSAA asper the rumor mill.....no surprise
  10. Here is the deal....now listen to me! Oak Ridge has the trophies and all the hype that goes with a team that has won multiple state championships and the mythical national championship. They have the tradition and the following....they have had multiple players play D1 and I assume a few in the NFL. They remind me of an Alabama or Texas at the college level everyone always gives them there best game and gets excited to play storied programs that have been to the top of the mountain. McMinn has its own traditions and has produced its own share of quality football players that have had success at the college level and yes even a couple of NFL players. But they have never been to the top of the mountain....they have been to the quarter finals a couple of times but never hoisted the state title in football. One thing I can promise any team that plays againist McMinn is that you will get 100% effort and you will know that they play with a passion. This game will be a huge challenge for McMinn and they will be motivated to line up againist such a storied program as OR. Can they overcome the loss of there starting senior QB? Sure they can....granted the QB is the director on the field and sure we have lost that senior experience but its no different if he had gone down with an injury. McMinn has plenty of gifted athletes and I am confident they will have someone playing the position that will be a threat to both run and pass. Should be a good one....
  11. Interesting facts: Common opponent which is Farragut both OR and McMinn lost to 21-28 and 14-24. McMinn is 5-1 at home and OR is 3-2 on the road McMinn averages 33 ppg OR averages 31 ppg McMinn gives up 23 ppg OR gives up 16 ppg McMinn has won 6 in a row OR has won 5 in a row
  12. It might be in good shape but the last time we were up there we lost our kicking tee on the field becasue the grass was so high then we lost our a%& in the game....lol BTW who says the freshman is starting???
  13. Alright enough on the PA man! I would not say much if I were you with the facilities that you have at OR....I mean you get dressed in a locker room the size of a shoe box and the field is about like playing in a pasture with grass up to your ankles and bare spots all over. I was not impressed the last time we played at "The Ship"....I was expecting a lot better than what I saw. I mean come on OR spend some of that $$$ you have and build a field house and replace the turf or lack there of. And yes the horse still runs wild at Cherokee Stadium and has pooped twice this year on the field on the vistors side. Matter of fact at the Soddy Daisy game it was a bit soft and runny....
  14. Hopefully you will be hearing it a lot this Friday night!
  15. No....but they do have a few good athletes that could play the position. If Plaster can play (turf toe) he is my choice that is assuming he can move a bit. I say that because with McMinn being in the shotgun 100% of the time he will need to hand it off to Sanders and Lindsey and be able to throw it enough to keep OR from putting 8 in the box. But who knows little #10 Powers might step right in and get the job done. Interesting decision for Bo.....but I am sure he will come up with an answer to the riddle?????
  16. The word from the McMinn camp is that they are appealing the ejection of #8. It was not a punch that was thrown it was a kick at a defender that hit him while he was on the ground. I didnt see the incident in question but have been told by a unnamed source that there is video evidence to over turn the ejection. If #8 does not play I think you will see a direct snap package and maybe Plaster in playing QB.
  17. Can you say Arch Rival + District Championship = BIG GAME
  18. Classic "trap game" for McMinn....with there arch rival Bradley and the district chanpionship on the line next week. Will the cherokees stay focused and take care of business or will they let a dangerous Soddy team steal one? I think McMinn will come out aggressive and with there foot on the gas! Look for McMinn to score early and often.....Soddy stays close but in the end McMinn has to much speed on both sides of the ball. I will say typically Soddy has good size so if this verision has that it could present a problem for the small defensive line of the cherokees. McMinn 35 Soddy Daisy 17 GO TRIBE!!
  19. Here is the deal if McMinn doesnt come out early and establish there dominance then Meigs keeps it close till the 3rd. You have to think that Meigs is going to come into this game with a chip on there shoulder thinking no one but themselves believe they have a chance. McMinn needs to keep there boot on there opponents throat and jump on them early and often. I dont see it being competitive but McMinn is not good enough just to show up and win they need to excute and keep the pressure on! McMinn 45 Meigs 6 GO TRIBE!!!
  20. Ok I confess all the officials are McMinn graduates and are on the payroll of the McMinn County board of education.
  21. FACT: McMinn 112 yds. in penalities Cleveland 105 Do the math and see who got caught breaking the rules more?
