  1. Congrats to Wayne Co. Our offense just couldn't get anything going with so many out. Defense looked good, though. Wish you well for the remainder of the season. And that would be Devellion Crutcher, not Davillan Fletcher, or whatever the earlier post said.
  2. Wayne Co. has done it with us before. For like four years in a row, I believe. Last year's loss to the Wildcats was the first time in five years. Rockets are for real. With GOOD coaches. All coaches make mistakes once in a while. Go Big Blue! We'll be in Waynesboro Friday night.
  3. Thanks to the good words from Cascade. Your guys wanted it, and your defense capitalized on our mistakes. Our guys have worked hard, and I hope this doesn't get them down. They deserve to win. I only hope they take that determination to Wayne County this week. Go Rockets!
  4. It was everything a high school football game should be. And everything a high school game is; mistakes will kill you. Both teams made them, Cascade came out on top. Very exciting, a game till the end. Congratulations to the Champions. Good game Rockets. Go get Wayne County next week. Should be a good game if we play like we did last night but eleminate the mistakes.
  5. Sorry Inglewood, I disagree. We fielded the better team, we just quit. No excuses. It was our fault. I think we'll take Cascade, though. No "Moore County Mystique" there.

    region 6-A

Forrest is going to make a lot of noise, but we're waiting. Moore County will be the test. The kids are ready, with a new coach and a great attitude, watch out 6 1A.
  7. Might want to make sure you can walk the walk before you talk the talk. Should be a good game. Rockets are working hard to be ready. Go Rockets!! [Edited by LovethoseRockets on 8-27-02 4:16P]
  8. Yhis is the schedule for Chapel Hill's Jamboree: Middle school games begin at 2pm, with Cornersville and Eagleville. Richland and Mt. Pleasant are next, with Forrest amd Huntland winding up Middle School action. The first High School game is at 4:30 with Cascade and Richland, Collinwood will face Perry County at 5:30, Eagleville and Cornersville play next, with Forrest and Huntland winding up the evening. Should be some good games. Sponsored by the Rocket Booster Club. [Edited by LovethoseRockets on 8-19-02 7:01A]
  9. It isn't likely that Forrest will be changing anything-except the football coach. New head coach Kyle Stacey has added spark and entheusiasm to the program.
  10. Forrest hosted East Robertson last night. Rockets won like 5 or 6 td's to 1. Rockets sporting a Freshman QB in injured Sr. qb's place. Did a good job. New kid (senior) is quick and looked good. Next stop is Pigskin Classic in Lewisburg Aug. 17th, I believe for Forrest.
  11. Curt Watson and Watson Brown are the same age. My brother, Tony Sweeney, (Forrest High School, class of '68) played in the East-West all star game at Cookville (Tech) with Curt Watson in the summer of '68. Watson Brown was also chosen, but I believe he didn't play because of an injury. The Forrest-FRA game in '98, (I think) that went into 6 OT's has to be one of the best games I've ever seen. Forrest won, by the way.
  12. We naturalized you a long time ago, Michael. You don't count as a Yankee anymore. There are some Yankees who came here and liked it, not wanting to change anything. But there have been a few who wanted to make us like Michigan, or Ohio, or New York . . . . Nope, not going to happen. My least favorite saying is "Up in Michigan, we " . . . or wherever they came from. This is Chapel Hill. We are southern! Like it or leave it.
  13. You know, I believe you are right. And the school newspaper was named "The Wizard". When did rebels come into being? And Rockets? I still haven't found anyone who can tell me the exact time Rockets was chosen. I'm still asking. Nathan Bedford Forrest (on the horse) was the symbol MTSU used for their Raiders mascot. They changed it not too many years ago.
  14. VG, I think getting rid of "Rebels" had to do with the coming of desegregation (sp?), but I'm not sure. I'll see what I can find out, because I have no idea why Rockets was chosen. And 61A, I like it, too. How did Cascade come up with Champions? What were Bell Buckle and Wartrace's mascots? I can't remember that, either. I remember playing Bell Buckle when I was in Jr. High (basketball).
  15. Hey, I have an idea. Why not just leave it as it is? Great idea! Actually, right after "Forrest Gump" came out, there was a group of fans at a football game that started cheering "run, Forrest, run!" For the record, I was not one of them! I think it was mostly Yankees!
  16. I believe that "Rebels" was the mascot for both Jr. High and high school many years ago. In the early 70's when I was in Jr. High we were the Rebels, and the high school was Rockets. I'm not sure when "Rockets" came into being. My dad graduated from Forrest in 1944, and we were Rebels then, I believe. I do hope that the "northern influence" doesn't take away this part of our Heritage. After all, it is heritage, hot hatred. I thought it was terrible when Culleoka changed from the Blue Devils to the Warriors or whatever they are now. As for being Rockets, there aren't many with that mascot around, and I kind of like it.
  17. I'm not sure what all teams were in the Boarder Battle in Fayetville, but the Lady Rockets did very well, losing only to two big Alabama schools. They wound up tied for third, I believe, in that. They won all the other tournaments they were in, including one in Franklin. They swept Panama City on spring break. We're very proud of our girls. For a small 1A public school, they did great. And you'll be hearing from them again in the future, possibly the next few years. A lot of young talent. Ann Marie Odum is a fine pitcher, and the DA girls had trouble hitting her. I'm not taking anything away from DA, they are a very talented young team. I thought overall, the two were pretty evenly matched.
  18. Who's crying? We had a great tournament. It was a thrill to make it to that last game. Great job, ladies. We're proud of you. Congratulations to Davidson Academy. You girls did a fantastic job.
  19. i'm just glad those kids cared enough about their team to make that drive. And thanks to their parents who let them. It's not exactly a short trip for kids who haven't been driving but a couple of years, and are used to "country life". Chattanooga traffic can be trying for an experienced driver. Again, we're proud of you Lady Rockets! Second in the state isn't exactly something to be ashamed of! Looking forward to the next few years, too, as the talent runs deep on that team, and it is YOUNG. Thanks for the letting us fans "ride that Rocket" to Chattanooga!
  20. The two guys from Friendship Christian made our kids look classy. They stood by the fence in the 2nd Friendship-Forrest game and harrassed every Forrest batter. As far as the "swing" thing goes, it's part of the game. It's done in every baseball or softball game by someone, kid or adult. Lady Rockets, you made us proud this week. You are a great bunch of girls, and it was a pleasure being in Chattanooga with you. You really showed what Forrest School and Chapel Hill is all about. Class, Pride, and Tradition. Congratulations on a great season.
