  4. Umm...Cleveland is in the Top 10 and you will see them moving right on up in my next Top 10. They are playing very good basketball right now. East Ridge has lost a couple here lately that they shouldn't have, and they also did have two losses early that aren't coutned now to Ooltewah and Temple that still way heavy in the mind. They are still there though. Look for my next Top 10 coming out this weekend. Sometime around the 7th or 8th of Febuary.
  5. First big upset of the week, Brainerd loses to Cleveland by 17 at Brainerd.
  6. I agree that Chattanooga Christian doesn't have the strongest schedule. Yet, Ooltewah has not played the toughest schedule in the world either. They have lost all 3 of their big games. Where as Chattanooga Christian as come out on top of all but 1 of its big games. Let the season play out and then tell me if I was wrong or not.
  7. Deepball….I know that if someone doesn’t take care of the problems at Soddy Daisy around the basketball programs then there is going to end up being some real problems. I think someone needs to make Tom Weathers, your new AD aware of the problem and its seriousness. I was at the Soddy Daisy-Hixson game, and I witnessed problems first hand there that night. I know that there I witnessed Coach Wood say something toward the Hixson Coaching staff that one coach doesn’t say to another in the middle of a game. As well did I witness the fans reaction to her as she was pegged by a little plastic ball in the head and head to be escorted out of the gym. Then I heard that a few others quit after that game but I don’t know the truth behind that. I think if someone doesn’t step up and take care of the problem, you will see a lot more continue to happen than what has already.
  8. I know Jeff Lewis from Walker Valley doesnt announce for UTC, because one of the guys from Sports Talk in Chattanooga does their games.
  9. Well, Another good week of Basketball. Many great games were played this week, but no one besides Bradley emerged from the crowd. Chattanooga Christian and Bradley were the only ones that took care of all their opponents this week. Therefore, you will see that most teams remain in a similar spot as they did last week. Rank (Last Weeks Rank)-Comments (Record) 1. (1) Bradley Central- Had a tough week of basketball but beat both Rhea and Cleveland by double figures. (19-1) 2. (4) Chattanooga Christian- Stayed on their winning ways with wins over Dalton and Temple. (14-3) 3. (2) Brainerd- Beat good Ooltewah and Howard teams, but split with Central on the season in their loss on Tuesday. (19-3) 4. (3) Chattanooga Central- Falls to a inconsistent Cleveland team, but evens up the season series with Brainerd with a win. (12-3)?? 5. (5) Rhea County- Loss to the Bears of Bradley but beat Cumberland County. (19-6) 6. (6) Ooltewah- Beat Grace and Red Bank but loss to a good Brainerd team. (14-4) 7. (7) Cleveland- Played tough opponents this week. Did a good job to escape 1 and 1. Win over Central and tough loss to Bradley. (10-8) 8. (8) East Ridge- Beat Grundy and loss to CSAS. (13-2) 9. (NR) Walker Valley- Beat Sequoyah and Meigs County. Big game versus Ooltewah this week. (12-8) 10. (9) Temple- Loss to Chattanooga Christian but came out with a win over Lookout Valley. (13-6) Another good week of basketball coming up this week as always. It will be interesting to see who stays towards the top of the Polls. Next weeks Top 10 will come out around Saturday. Any comments or questions welcome…
  10. I agree with you that CCS has a good team and could be worthy of a three spot. Which you might see in the next poll considering the Central loss Tuesday night. The only thing going against Chattanooga Central is their weaker schedule. They have not played many top teams around the area with the exception of Murray and Temple. I think you might find them there though in my next Top 10.
  11. I see what you are saying about the East Ridge-Temple thing but MNewBaller is right.. It is a toss up and to tell you the truth that thought didn't even cross my mind. It could be changed but not that much of a difference. Temple will really be tested Tuesday against Chatt. Christain. It is hard to tell where to put Chatt. Christain because their compitition isn't the strongest. Yet, they keep winning so I decided to put them there, but your arguement ChattCity is reasonable.
  12. Well it has been a long while since I have posted the Top 10 from the Chattanooga Area. I do apologize for taking so long. I will give you the teams that the teams in my Top 10 have beaten and lost to in the New Year. I am just now getting caught and things put together. Just in time for the Top 10 going into this huge week of basketball that will see Rhea-Bradley, Ooltewah-Brainerd, Chattanooga Christian-Temple, Cleveland-Central, and many more. Here is your Top 10. 1) Bradley Central-No surprise here. Wins over Cumberland Co., Red Bank, McMinn Co., and Walker Valley. (17-1) 2) Brainerd-Beat Austin East, Cleveland in overtime, and Soddy Daisy. (17-2) 3) Chattanooga Central- Win a huge game over Ooltewah. (10-2)?? 4) Chattanooga Christian- Wins over Hardy Memorial, Whitwell, Chattanooga School for Creative-Arts, and Lookout Valley. (12-3) 5) Rhea County- Beat McMinn County, Soddy Daisy, Red Bank, and Grundy County. (18-5) 6) Ooltewah- Beat Loudon, Tellico, and Lost a good one to Central. (12-3) 7) Cleveland- Win in triple overtime at McMinn County, Losses to Oak Ridge, Brainerd, in overtime, and Cumberland County. (9-7) 8) East Ridge- Wins over Meigs and Marion County’s. Also over Hixson, Bledsoe, and McMinn Central. (12-1) 9) Temple- Beat Grace, 21st Century, Boyd Buc, and won 3 games in Metro Baptist Tournament. (12-5) 10) Howard- Wins over Bledsoe, CSAS, and lost to Austin East. (10-6) Honorable Mention- CSAS, Walker Valley, and Grace. This week in the Chattanooga Area there are so many great games. I encourage everyone to go out and watch. This weeks games could shake up the Top 10 a lot. The Top 10’s will start being posted regularly after this week. Let me know what you think about it and hear your comments and tell me about any corrections.
  13. I will look to add you to our Top 10 if i feel needed. Since you do play in the same District with others included in this Top 10. Help me keep up with Cumberland though or I won't be able to cover them.
  14. First off guys about the Cumberland County thing, I am not going to include them in my Chattanooga Top 10. I thought about including them and McMinn Central but since Cumberland's scores are normally not posted in the Times Free Press I decided to leave them out because they are to hard to follow. Second, You all do realize there has been another Top Ten released for Week 5??...Check it out.

  16. What a week of basketball in the Chattanooga Area. There were so many incredible games this week. Cleveland had two close games against Walker Valley and Rhea, the Chattanooga Central game and Brainerd game was a good one, the hostile Ooltewah and Soddy game. This week was just amazing. To top it all of I think it is time for a Top 10. So here it is. Rank. (Previous Rank)-Comments and (Record) 1.(1.) Bradley- Wins over Red Bank and Oak Ridge. Looking like that team that made it to the state championship last year. (7-1) 2. (3.) Rhea County- Wins over Seqouyah, Soddy Daisy, and a huge win over Cleveland. Very hot right now. (10-1) 3. (4.) Chattanooga Christian- Beat South Pittsburgh and Chattanooga School for Creative Arts. (6-1) 4. (2.) Cleveland- Beat Walker Valley, Lost to Rhea County. (6-1) 5. (5.) Ooltewah- Beat Soddy, but lose a valuable part of the team in doing it. (6-1) 6. (7.) Brainerd- Beat Notre Dame and Chattanooga Central. (9-1) 7. (8.) Chattanooga Central- Beat Red Bank lost to Brainerd. (7-1) 8. (6.) McMinn County- Lost to Oak Ridge and Cumberland County. Struggled this week. (6-4) 9. (NR.) CSAS- Beat Marion County, Lost to East Ridge. (5-1) 10. (NR.) Walker Valley- Beat Meigs County and Hixson. Lost a close game to Cleveland. (5-4) Honorable Mention- East Ridge (5-1), Grace (4-2), Howard (7-3) This was a great week of basketball and I am sure next week will be just as good. Lets here where you think people should be and your own Top 10. The next Top 10 will be out Saturday the 20th of December.
  17. Well I hate to inform you of this Gomab, but it seems that Randall Smith was one of the players that was suspended 1 game due to disciplinary actions. He got suspended along with other teammates the night of the Chattanooga Central game. This was looked to be one of the premiere match-ups in the city that night, yet with 4 of Red Banks 5 starters not in action it turned ugly quick. I don’t think this should effect him in any of your polls, I just thought that I should let you know about that since you were asking about the kid.
  18. Yes, I think that I can help you out somewhat. I know that his name is Randall Smith, and you are correct that he is a sophomore point guard. He has very good ball handling skills, and more than anything he is very athletic. I haven't had chance to watch him this year, but I know several people that have and feel that his shot, as well as shot selection might be suspect at times. Yet, I do think he is very good choice for a spot in your 2006 Sophomore rankings. If you need anymore info just let me know.
  19. He is a decent player. He isn't anything special. He needs alot of work on his ball handling and need to work on his shot. I didn't see the Temple games so i am not exactly sure to how well he played that game, but those are just a few of the I know taht this kid needs to improve on to become a good player.
  20. Well I will admit to you that I do not lean toward any team in this area. I am an editor for a paper and I grew up in Nashville, and part of my job is to have some knowledge on high school basketball in this area and the other part is writing about it as well as making it out to games. Chattanooga Christian is ranked so highly because they are a very solid all around team. They have two or three guys who tower over 6'6" for them and allow excellent post play. Also I do feel that Tyner has a decent team and is maybe worthy of the Honorable Mention spot. McMinn Central could be in the Top 10 possibly, but I did not consider them in this area and maybe perhaps I should, and I may do that. There is alot that people do not know about Brainerd this year. Brainerd is actually a very good team led by Junior Point Gaurd Corey Sanders, and Senior Post Charles Benning. This Brainerd team went to the Bahamas and beat the #1 team in the Bahamas as well as Science Hill who is a very good team. In the loss to Red Bank Brainerd was not at full strength, which in return caused them to stumble. I think this Brainerd team will be right in the middle of the District 5 Championship mix. Thanks for all the comments and Questions and the next poll will come out at the end of the week.
  21. I will add that into their column and record. Also Chatt. Christian played tonight if someone could give me the update on that game...Thanks Baconbreath
  22. Well After everyone has played in some Thanksgiving Tournaments and are now into their third week of basketball, things seem to be getting more into the basketball flow. Several great games have been played this week, and it is time to put out the new Top 10 for the Chattanooga Area. Rank. (Previous Rank).- Comments...(Record) 1.(1.) Bradley -Beat Cumberland County, William Blount, and win 2 of 3 games in a Thanksgiving Tournament. Still the best team in Chattanooga Area by far. (5-1) 2.(3.) Cleveland -Beat Riverdale, Warren County, Soddy Daisy, and McMinn County. (5-0) 3. (2.) Rhea County - Beat Heritage, Tellico Plains, University School of Nashville and Maryville. Lost to Bearden. (7-1) 4.(4.) Chattanooga Christian -Beat South Pittsburgh, Dalton, and Murray County. (4-1) 5.(6.) Ooltewah -Beat Ridgeland and Temple. (5-1) 6.(7.) McMinn County -Beat Southeast Whitfield, Murray County, Houston County, and Baylor. Lost to Cleveland. (6-2) 7.(NR.) Brainerd -Win Bahama's Tournament, beat Science Hill, and Howard. Lost to Red Bank. (6-1) 8.(8.) Chattanooga Central -Beat Ridgeland, Tyner, and Notre Dame. (6-0) 9.(5.) Baylor -Lost to McMinn and Brentwood. (0-3) 10.(NR.) Red Bank -Beat Soddy and Brainerd. (4-0) Honorable Mention- Howard, McCallie, Temple, CSAS, East Ridge, and Hixson. Thats the Top 10 for after the Thanksgiving Break and until December 6. Notify me of any corrections. Comments and Suggestions are welcome. Next Top 10 will be out around the 19th of December...
  23. Actually, After watching Cleveland play the other night, I think they are very worthy of a three spot. Granted Ooltewah might could be a little bit higher, but Cleveland is worthy of that three spot. Only few teams in the area do I think have the talent to stop Charles Little. Also you have to remember that Cleveland played Ooltewah without Jay Davis, who will add another deminsion to this Cleveland team and make them alot tougher. Once Cleveland is handed a loss they will fall accordingly. Soddy is a decent team, not near the material of a Bradley or Ooltewah or Cleveland, but why not lift their spirits some and put them here. Their aren't any other teams in this area that really belong there. And who cares, its only in the mention part, not even a top spot.
  24. Where do you think Ooltewah belongs?? Cleveland will fall when they get beat. Ooltewah did not have a good game the other night. They would have only fallen 1 spot in my poll, but then I realized I had totally left off Chatt. Christian who belongs where they are. Resulting in the 2 lost spots. Ooltewah did look better than Baylor in the playday, but right now Ooltewah has not beet anyone that great to get them to jump ahead.
