  1. Give Brentwood and their coaches credit for executing a flawless gameplan against Dickson. I am a huge Dickson fan and will be the first to admit that friday night was a humbling experience. Much to the surprise of the entire Dickson community they beat us at our own game. We did not take care of the football and they capitalized on our mistakes( three first half turnovers led to all 17 Brentwood points. Two of which came inside the DCHS twenty-five). That is not an excuse because there are none, they executed and we didn't. Perhaps it is good for an undefeated team to lose and release a sense of reality. Look at how Brentwood has bounced back from the loss to Franklin. Franklin verse DCHS should be interesting as well.
  2. I have not been able to see Antioch play this year but I have heard alot about Coker(I think that is right). What year is he and if he is a senior is he getting any looks from major universities? If Antioch is as physical as you say then a match up between them and Dickson would be an exceptional game. Dickson played Hendersonville early in the year and from what I understand the score was misleading(17-14). People told me that Hendersonville scored twice in a four minute span and then were completely shut out by the Cougar defense. Who knows.
  3. How can you say that you guys destryed the "big boys" when yall played in 2A for so long. An argument to be made is that MBA played with the "big boys" when you guys didn't and were unsuccessful in winning a state championship for decades. In addition, I am not taking anything away from either school because they have rich traditions that create lots of excitement. MBA being ranked nationally is great for their institution and the state of Tennessee high school football. Schools like MBA and BA have represented our state exceptionally well. My point is that it is not fair to argue that public schools cannot compete with them when they are not given the opportunity. There are several public schools that can match up competitavely with anybody. We as fans can never say beyond reasonable doubt that there is a true state champion until they play it on the field. As far as evidence concerning being found guilty, no I cannot say there is solid proof but there are anumerous amount of fans that believe a small handful of programs that contributed to the disassembling of the public verse private competition. (hang on a second my teeth fell out). Lastly, what we are doing right now is what it is all about. Fans enjoy arguing these topics and that makes it fun. I will denture, I mean venture to say that you and I and the rest of the fans would like to see the bragging rights of the best be settled on the field. We apologize for getting under your skin so early in the day. I hope you are not a Vandy fan!
  4. CR4 it sounds like I must have touched on a sore spot and I apologize for offending such an honest program. I mean, only a redneck would assume that the whole public and private split just came out of nowhere. You know, you are probably right, it was someone like Lighthouse Christian that must have created such a controversy. By the way, does your mommy and daddy know you are using such foul language like dirty redneck. I didn't think that type of language was acceptable in Williamson County. I'm not even from Dickson I was just giving their coach credit that I think he deserves. I'll bet you your BMW that Coach Flatt would agree. Hurry up and reply spoonfed!
  5. Who cares? That region is down anyway. The Bears are having a great year but they haven't beaten anybody. Region 6-5A is far more superioir to that region. It is a good thing Collierville isn't in that region huh. Or maybe Hillsboro too.
  6. I knew Henry beat them one of those years but obviously I was mistaken as to which one. Nevertheless they had a great team.
  7. I agree with you that Brentwood has a good defense, but name a team on their schedule that plays as tough as Dickson. The thing that makes Dickson so tough is that they have so many backs. They have five, count them five that have over 550 yards on the season. That is symbolic of their attack. When the defense gets tired they have to stop three backs who are rested and ready for four quarters. Rumor around Dickson is that instead of running around Van Horne they will run right at him and punish him all night long.
  8. Actually I cannot remember who they lost to in the 92 season but in 91 they lost to a very good Henry County team. The win was tainted though because Eric Gardner was ejected on a play that he did nothing wrong and Coleman was out from an injury the week before. No doubt about it, if those two were in they would have cruised to a state title. And just think, Coleman was a sophomore.
  9. Hey G Unit, I will take that bet. Have you ever heard the saying one and done? That is about the diagnosis of your playoff run. Dickson and Franklin both are much better than you guys.
  10. What a mathcup it would be for Gallatin to travel to Dickson County for a playoff game. Going back for decades, these two traditions have always hated each other. I have a gut feeling that will be the matchup as DCHS will probably win their region. My evaluation of that scenario is under the Brentwood at Dickson County topic where I am heading back too.
  11. MBA is a great football team without a doubt; however, it is rather juvenile to assume that nobody can beat them. There are teams in the mid-state that can beat anybody on any given night. The actual purpose of this reply is to elaborate on the "public vs. private" debate. To say that the public schools cannot compete with the private schools is rediculous. MBA has established themselves this year as the state powerhouse, and rightfully so. It is apparent to you guys that they are far and away the best. Let me make an argument for two teams that could compete with anybody in the state and that is Dickson County and Lincoln County. Both teams are physical and powerful. Also, keep in mind that coaching has a huge part of every week. Coach Jerry Pearson of Dickson has forgotten more football than most coaches know. Ask anyone that knows anything about a quality coach and they will tell you that Pearson is probably the most knowledgeable coach around. If he could go to downtown Nashville and find his players (BA), then he would beat Lighthouse and CPA as well. Also, speaking of debating, CPA is a defending state champion in the private school sector, but they were humiliated and blown out by Riverdale. MBA received mounds of credit for beating Trinity and they should, but they beat a team full of 14 and 15 year old wide receivers. As for the old BA teams I say this. They have a great tradition but it is shadowed by rumors of recruiting. Of all the great teams I have seen ther, none match up with what I believe may have been the best team ever, the 1991 and 1992 Stratford teams. They were flooded with athletes and if you remember, they had 4 backs rush for over a thousand yards. They were led by Michael Coleman, far and away the best back the state of Tennessee ever produced.
  12. From an unbiased perspective I must say this; Dickson County is the most physical teaqm in the mid-state by far. I cannot evaluate teams from the east and the west because I have not seen them firsthand. Let's venture back one season to the second round of last years playoffs. Brentwood won a hard fought game 14-7 in route to the state championship.Much credit is given there:however, this years DCHS team is far and away better than last years team. They merely line up and hit you in the mouth. Their whole strategy is to pound you play after play. Brentwood can play physical football, but not to the caliber of Dickson. They remind myself and my traveling counterpart of the mid-nineties Nebraska teams that used to punish opposing defenses. In the Riverdale game, though the Warrior faithful are too proud to admit it, the Cougars manhandled them. Coach Rankin even tried to pack ten men into the box and were still unsuccessful stopping the run. Dickson is a team that is averaging 371 yards rushing a game and have shown no signs of slowing down. Keep in mind that Dickson has only punted five times the entire season. That is a remarkable stat. As for Franklin, they are extremely athletic as well; however, Once again from an unbiased perspective, Brentwood has a better team than Franklin. Franklin was very lucky to have won that ballgame. As odd as this sounds Brentwood's coaching staff lost that game by indecisive playcalling. In a nutshell, if Dickson beats Brentwood, which I think they will, they will run through the Franklin defense with less of a problem and win the region. Also a factor, the weather is calling for a drastic change in temps next week. The preliminary forecast is calling for temperatures to be in the upper twenties on Halloween night. Sorry Franklin but it's hard to throw in that type of weather. In contrast, that type of weather is ideal for Nebraska, I mean Dickson. Sorry for the lengthly script.
