  1. They could do a double elimination tournament and ease or increase the crowd if they would Split the division to A-AA and AAA-AAAA into two weekends or a weekend and Monday-Tuesday event. The Division II could bowl with the A-AA timings. But I don't know if that would or could happen. It would mean more money for the area.
  2. Division 1 Boys Columbia Central has the best chance with a stellar line-up. Very consistant and NOT cocky. Good luck to them from a bulldog fan.
  3. District 8 Boys 1. Columbia Central 2. Spring Hill Girls 1. Columbia Central 2. Lawrence County
  4. All I was commenting on in the beginning was that bowling needs to be split into classifications just like all other sports. I believe that this would expand bowling in the state and it is not all about scores (to some people)...it's about the sport. (By the way the High school I'm at has less than 300 students in grades 7-12 and 22 on the bowling squad boys and girls combined). They are building for today and the future. Not all are great bowlers, but all love the game regardless of the level.
  5. I agree a great enviroment - But its time to split into divisions - By the way check the school sizes of the finalist over the past 6 years and you will see that no true single A schools and only a few AA schools are there. And I disagree about the odds of better bowlers coming from larger schools. When you have more to choose from your odds are greater. example - Smyrna - Hendersonville. I think they are pretty good size schools
  6. True facilities may pose a problem...but you can't deny when a high school has 900 plus students over a 200 maximum has a lot more to choose from. Coaches are not that hard to find.
  7. What is Hixsons normal school classification like football and basketball? Also if you notice there are a lot of small schools that will NOT compete because of the dominance of the larger schools. Not a complaint...just something I noticed.
  8. When will they split the schools into classifications for help for the smaller schools and increased participation? What do you think?
  9. Again, I was at the game and the officiating was bad on both sides of the ball. Yes, CA had more penalties it was not 10 personal fouls but the one that was uncalled for was the one at the end of the game. Frustration gets to the players sometimes and yes, language and name calling should NEVER be tolerated by coaches. As far as sportsmanship goes. The players have it they shake hands at the end of the game and move on. The FANS need it. I've learned through many years that at the end of the clock some one moves on and someone is left behind but the greatest thing is that they both got to play the game. Good Luck to both teams Friday night and I pray for safety and God's care and attitude to be with you!
  10. I was at this game and I will say that the officials at this game MISSED many calls on BOTH side of the field. That's what happens when a YOUNG crew takes the field. Concerning dirty play, I'm not going to argue EITHER side, I know that it takes two to tango and if the refs had taken charge of the game, I don't believe the outcome would have been different but I think attitudes on both sides would have been better (especially from the fans). I hope that both teams will respect each other and leave it on the field because they sure don't on this string.
  11. I forgot who said that CA fans would not be pulling for MP. I think that some have a bit more respect for our county teams than you may think (many of the players are friends with each other) . It will be a great ball game and I think that you should congratulate both teams for making it this far and cheer for the team you want to win and do not put down the players from the opposite team!
  12. I was at the CA JB game. J burns is good not great. Have seen MP play they have assets that outweigh JB. Concerning the penalty situation I hope that neither team has to have the same officials for this game. JB better step up with more than the QB (who is good). You will be tested by a team that has MORE speed and strength. If MP plays football it's no contest.
  13. As I look over the sites (tssaa there are a great numer of teams from different Classes that would benefit from this split. Your smaller schools who do not have the number of bowlers to choose from would benefit greater as far as competition goes. I know the A-AA schools find it difficult to compete with the larger schools. As far as the districts games are concerned you could do like they do in baseball and bowl the team twice.
  14. Don't Forget the Southern Middle Tennessee Teams of Spring Hill and Columbia Central Boys! I believe that they will be back again this year.
  15. This has come up on this forum for the last two years! Some may say that it is not a sport. Some will argue that it is. I say let's play the game and don't be concerned about what you call it. Just give credit to the individuals take part.
  16. I guess I am looking at it from players point of view. many schools (such as ours) have to wait till the fall sports teams finish, and some bands to finish competitions before we get a full regiments of players. i just wish they would make it sport that falls in the winter season. Thanks for the thoughts.
  17. This years season did not start until September 28th thats nearly two months after school starts and football, girls soccer and golf is in mid season and basketball does not begin until the End of October. Looking at the districts in the state there are not that many bowling teams with the exception of our district (10 teams) still there is enough time to play district games and a few outside games during the winter months even till March when basketball is over. ( I know the bowling seson ends in Feb.) This allows a player from the fall sport to compete in winter sport without missing games. I think the TSSAA is considering making it a winter sport I just hope they can get the timing worked out.
  18. Yeah, we play against Central next week. The boys game wil be tough. The girls I believe can take them.
  19. As many of you know Bowling is split between the fall and winter sports season. I would like to know what the thoughts are of making it a winter sport only!
  20. Sante Fe boys win 18-9 after being down 9-7 after two. Great job SF on shooting far above their average. CA is rebuilding and waiting for football players to join soon. CA Girls beat Sante Fe girls 16-11 after being down 9-7 after two. Four solid players on CA girls team and others coming up. Thia ought to be an interesting district for the girls this year.
  21. Columbia Academy Played FRA in game one of the season. FRA won 3-1 however, one of those goals was a kick by CA. Also CA played Anderson County to a TIE 1-1 in a tournament in Smyrna and a loss 3-2 in a tournament in Oak Ridge. I didn't see these teams play many top 10 teams this season. And they beat DCA 3-2. So give them the respect they deserve. They can hang with ANY team at ANY time.
  22. Guess you did not look at the the Columbia Academy schedule for the year. Not only did they beat ranked team including some of those east teams they also had extremely close games with FRA (who I believe has a state crown.) now ccs put a thumping on CA but on any given day a team could have a bad one and I believe under different circumstances CA would have held their own. If it were based on a strength of schedule (I not saying it should be) then Columbia Academy would have had the strongest. Saying all this...CA is literally a top 3 team in A/AA
  23. Congrats Sevier on a great season. I am sure that your teams are good. Just wish the Tssaa would either narrow the regions (less teams) or make more classifications. There are 17 teams in our region, compared to 7 in yours. See my point.
  24. The sport of bowling is that I can compete against myself or against another player or team. While bowling against you I can intimidate you mentally by putting pressure on you to do better than me or my team. Yes, it may be your hobby but even hobbies have developed into sporting events.
