  1. Privates are out with exception of Knox Catholic. My friends at Father Ryan say they will be forced in by fall or face a stiff challenge and/or penalty. They are trying to classify the scholarship money from the church as "loans".

Page bumped up to AAA. The privates leaving open up A and AA big time. Anderson County is back in AA where they were a wrecking ball for 20 years. They have to be an early favorite.

AAA is Brentwood, no real challenger. Webb's ride of only play in a 6 team small school private division and then calling it a "State Championship" is over.

    Should be a fun season.

My so early they mean nothing picks are

    AAA Wood

    AA Anderson

    A Sale Creek

    Div 2 Large Baylor

    Div 2 Small CAK

  2. Didn't mean to strike a nerve. First, these lists are paid subscription lists. Second, just because you say you are not a dad, mom, or club coach, doesn't mean that you are telling the truth. People get on here and hide their id's.

What Knoxville is living thru is what Nashville went thru 15 years ago, club wars. Moms and dads buy into this drug, and lie, that the club coaches are selling. They use this board to pump up this girl or that one and then they ATTACK everybody else. Heaven forbid you disagree.

We lived it in Nashville. Competing clubs were sprouting up, and J and J constantly tried to get their coaches hire at high schools to help recruit.

FG, you either can't assess talent or are blinded by your relationship. This whole thread is insulting, and bad for the girls. Don't try to justify your behavior.

  3. I am always amazed at the parents who get on here to start topics to push their daughters. This is sad. Really. Why was one player left off when another makes it? Because the coach pushed one player over another. I saw Webb, Catholic and Farragut at the state playoffs. I actually saw Farragut a lot because they were the team that had the best chance to beat the team I follow. They had one GREAT player, number 6, who was legit.

Top Liberos in the country? Dad, or mom, that is ridiculous. Why would you say these things other than to hurt this player? Not cool.

As to the two freshmen, don't both of their moms coach? I do remember the Webb freshman, solid player, great hands, probably deserved all state because Private only has two or three real teams to pick from, so anybody that can hit the ball consistently usually makes all state. As to the Catholic freshman....? I would not have thought she was the best player even on her team, but so what.

Interesting to see what happens next year. Webb has no one to play in their division, stinks that they are stuck playing privates. Farraguts best player is returning, and no dad, it's not the mythical Libero. Catholic will need to get better.

  4. Was surfing and hit this. From a Brentwood girls perspective do NOT hire a club coach with no high school or college coaching experience. It never seems to work, when I played, 12 years ago, the two Jeff's made the rounds of several high schools, including Harpeth and Franklin, two strong vb schools. It was awful. They killed both programs. Great club guys, but had no clue how to build, or maintain, a program. They also were poor teachers, and couldn't handle the pressure that comes from a high school season where people follow a school as a FAN, as opposed to just parents.

Recently Nikki Armstrong hit town. The same problem. Played college, coached club, but was a disaster at Independance which was a state champion. She couldn't coach. Motivation is more than yelling at your players, and schools with strong traditions expect an amount of professionalism which club doesn't have.

Several of our top high school coaches are also our BEST club coaches. They took what they learned in high school, how to coach, and brought it to club. I don't know anything about Bearden, but saw Catholic at state this year and in years past. They seem to support volleyball. Why did the coach leave?

Find an established high school coach or an asst from a great program. Don't go club.

  5. THATwas a day of volleyball! OMG!

I have been a wood fan for 20 plus years, that was the most exciting finals day every.

First, CAK, I thought the war with Signal was amazing. AA was a tougher bracket than AAA this year. Catholic and Dyersburg either one could have made it, but CAK did, great job!

Farragut, hats off. I thought we were toast. You pushed us to the limit!

Finally, it is clear that what has been happening for the last few years has been realized, East Tenn has passed Middle Tenn for volleyball superiority. I know that is not popular, but not only have they caught up, they have passed us. Why? I think two things, they have two really good clubs with alt of girls playing, and we are diluted with too many schools, not enough coaches.

For years the only teams that ever came out of East TN were Sullivan South and Anderson County. Now Farragut, CAK, Knoxville Catholic, and Webb are as good if not better than anybody we have. CAK and Signal could have been in the AAA finals. Good clubs and great competition have made the East the region. Now, Wood, Siegal, Ravenwood, Ryan, Page and the others are going to work hard this off season to get back on top.

For Brentwood, little sisters this one made me cry. The Wood has been the standard for thirty years. I love you all.

  6. Clifford are you a moron? Are you even watching these matches. Farragut beat us first game and is playing us even. Ravenwood? I am laughing. I don't agree at all. Volleyball is much better balanced. Quit living in fantasy land? What has Siegal ever won? Knoxville Catholic looks great. Sullivan South, who they beat is always tough. Anderson County is a devil to play but has been down two years but three years ago they came to middle Tennessee and beat all of only to get upset in Region by a big Bearden team who made it to the final three. You don't speak for middle TN, better cheer harder.

  7. It looks like the only bashing is EBTHER against Truth. Where did it say you were arrogant, although I would say that your posts are arrogant. As a fan, probably a parent or a coach, you have to be careful about getting on these boards and bragging as much as your doing. Your team is not a dominant team, and could easily get upset on the way to state. At Brentwood we take nothing for granted, and NEVER MAKE EXCUSES.

You have a tall player that should be unstoppable in AA. Yet you are apparently losing games in your own district?

  8. Wow. I don't know which is worse. The arrogance to predict a state tournament appearance. Don't you have to play a district, regional and sectional tournament first? Or the making of excuses for a loss to a better team?

I laughed out loud at the "setting a big" quote. Was that a joke. With her reach she was over a foot taller than the blocker. It is the easiest set in the world. You must be a dad.

Don't you have to play Sullivan South? Is no one in your district? Dad, you have the tallest player in the state AND you play in AA. Your team looks miserable, like they are going to the dentist. Volleyball is supposed to be fun and exciting. Does your coach ever smile? Does your team ever celebrate?

You talk like you are a powerhouse. Better worry about making it to the state and then HOPE you don't play Dyersburg because it won't be any different.

  9. Dyersburg is a strong team. I honestly expected alot more from CAK. Their coach should late them play, instead of over coaching, They played flat. Sullivan South looks good, so does Fogg and Page. Don't overlook Dyersburg. CAK is big, but Dyersburg way out hustled them. How can you not dominate with a long 6 7 player? I wouldn't expect Sullivan East to have a chance against CAK but Sullivan South would take them. SS is way better fundamentally. They don't have CAK's size but they play with alot of energy!

  10. I am big on the no high school train. There are exceptions, but very view. I can't think of more than a handful of quality high school coaches. The risk of injury, and burnout, are both solid points. If you are serious about wanting to play in college I would not play high school and use that time to get some one on one lessons and improve my fundamental skills.

  11. You should never close practice. Never. That is innapropriate in these times.

You are experiencing what Nashville went thru, and it destroyed a lot of people and took a lot of money.

These people are salesman. Their business is to get you to spend as much money as possible. Some colleges will support what they are saying to get a recruit any edge.

Everyone in the state volleyball community knew Carmen Foster and what she did with Smoky Mounjain Juniors. It pre dated Impact. None of us ever heard of the Hames until they formed K2, and it is no more than a costly, but average, club. Never heard of KVA or anyone on their web site other than Coach Foster.

Look, no disrespect, you only have two established programs in East Tennessee. Sullivan South and Anderson County.here in Nashville these are the two teams we scout, because year in year out they are competitive. Has anyone asked these coaches their thoughts? Are either of the schools have ex players or coaches coaching

On KVA they have a coach who was a high senior last year! No distress perct but come on.

  12. I can't help but join into this sideshow! Gang, you Knoxville parent are getting your first taste of the snake oil show that is Club Volleyball. We went thru it a little over ten years ago and Chattanooga shortly after that. You are ALL BEING PLAYED. This is OLD NEWS.

Nashville had our own pair of Jays who came with a club called Impact, you've heard of it. Everything was fine and dandy while there was just one club, and it did what club should do, let the kids work on individual skills in the offseason, and let colleges see the girls at tourneys. Club helped Brentwood become a state power and made me a college player. Our parents could afford to pay for club, it wasnt cheap back then either, and Brentwood benefited.

Guess what happened next? Our Jay and Jay got involved. They were slick, just like your Jay and Tom.

First, they tear down the high school coaches. Knoxville, have you heard this? If you want to play D1 you have to play for our club. Don't play high school, play club. Our club is better than their club. I have coached this that the other, just never at a college or competitive high school. It just takes time and MONEY.

They then get parents with money and influence to have themselves hired at affluent high schools. Brentwood, the privates, etc. they use these money trees to fund their own clubs. It's good for a couple of years, but since they have no idea how to really coach it implodes. Our Jay ended Brentwoods dominance while his buddy, the other Jay destroyed Franklin. All the while making more money.

They have become a virus on athletics. Welcome to the game Knoxville. Don't be suckered. Stop it while you can. It gets worse, alot worse. I lived it. My family paid almost 100,000 for me and my two sisters, and my youngest sis got burned out after 6 years of being screamed at and lied to by a man who had no business being a coach. These leeches will suck you dry and promise you everything to get your money.

What have they REALLY ever done. If you are 6 2 and an above average athlete you will play d1 ball. Not because of club, but because you are tall. College coaches love USING club coaches because they will do anything for money, and they are not accountable to anyone.

TN has had some GREAT high school coaches. Some even work with clubs, but most do it because they are REAL coaches and they love teaching a sport they LOVE. our Jay and Jay and your Jay and Tom are not REAL coaches, and all they love is money.

Club can be great, but it can be really bad.

  13. Now that it is over, here is what we know. Not what is said by 90 % of these posters.

Brentwood is THE best volleyball school in Tennessee, any doubt? And Brentwood plays in the toughest Region by far.

The second best AA team was Goodpasture, and they were in A!

They need to put private school back into a SINGLE CLASSIFICATION. not enough talent to give two trophys. The small school privates are as bad as JV. No offense to Webb, they were decent, but 4 of the 6 teams couldn't line up.

The tournament needs to be at one location. Playing at high schools is a joke. Lets change locations.

Coaching makes a difference. Brentwood, Ravenswood, Sullivan South, Hume Fogg, Baylor, Webb and Goodpasture are well coached and the coaches impact the game. Other threads on here have mentioned or questioned lack of coaching or energy by some of the coaches, CAK in particular. They were 100% accurate. CAK had more size than either Brentwood or Ravenwood but zero energy. He didn't do anything. At state the coach has to be the emotional leader, they have to get the team up, keep them up, and help them up when they get down. If anything he weighted them down.

Finally, get your girls in CLUB. It will help your team. The reason Brentwood and Ravenwood and Goodpasture are good is because our entire team plays club.

  14. You miss my point. You are holding Jay, and have previously held up the other Jay, as being good for a sport we all love. They weren't. They were not good coaches, nor good role models. They caused alot of harm in the volleyball community. Their impact on many of us was harmful. Please don't praise these "men" because you don't know the extent of the damage they caused, many of us are trying to forget them, don't honor them.

  15. Sir, how is that not related to coaching? We talked about this in the preseason. Several of us commented on Seigals and Indys decision to go with young club helpers with no coaching experience. These two schools are too good to put kids with no coaching experience as the head coaches. Now that the season is over don't you agree?

  16. This is why mr. Harqis shouldn't post. He gives bad information for one of three reasons: he thinks it's funny, he does it on purpose, or he doesn't know the right answer. Then he edits his post.

There are only two things two look at, the tssaa rule and the rule from your school district.

If you participated in practice, whether it is preseason or not, you have to sit out one year from the date of the last day you participated unless you actually move or there is a hardship like a divorce. You can go to or from a private without moving as long as you sit the year.

Also check the rules for your phone system, some are more restrictive, hope that helps, sorry for the run around. Rogue posters waste time for everybody.

  17. Surprise, the gentleman that started this thread, who pushes siegel at the expense of te sport, and the number 1 pot stirrer on coacht makes another inflammatory post and then uses his power to edit it or delete it after a response. You lose all credibility when you do that. Don't hide behind the delete or edit button. You get on here and trash schools to start something then delete it! I will wait until the season is over when the two Woods are in another state final, a place that siegel is a long way away from.
