  1. And if you live in the Clarksville are you can listen in on 1400 WJZM or on the internet at www.wjzm.com
  2. Anyone interested, this game will be carried on Clarksville's 1400 WJZM, and you can listen online at www.wjzm.com. Pre-game at 6:30, kickoff at 7:00.
  3. Not sure. The game locally will be available on 540 AM, not our game. I am actually covering it for the local paper. The station I worked for no longer has High School football, so if you know of anyone looking for a radio guy, I am available. Another interesting note I discovered doing my pre-game homework. How about this for the rotating schedule, in this series, no team has won back to back games against the other. I could only go back to 2001. The home team has almost always had an advantage. 2005 @ HC - Kenwood wins 17-14 2004 @ HC - Patiots win 41-8 2003 @ K - Kenwood wins 30-3 (their only win that season) 2002 @ HC - Patriots win 40-26 2001 @ K - Kenwood wins 21-20
  4. Kenwood needs to find a consistant running game. The two alternating Quarterbacks give opposing defenses different looks and situations, but Wilkins is not a threat to run when he is in, so you can key off of that. The Knights D is the strenght, speed, not size, and pursuit like you would not believe. Again, you have to run the football to rest your defense, and that is where Kenwood is vulnerable. I am exicted to see Henry County. Have read about them, and talked to others who have seen them, and like one other poster mentioned much earlier, it is not just a matter of containing McNairl anymore, there is another young horse in the backfield to deal with. I do think the Patriots have the advantage on the O-line, but not until the second half. I think they can wear down the Knight front if that D has been on the field for too many plays. I'll be inthe box covering the game, looking forward to it!
  5. Knowing your Head Coach is out the door after the season has to be a distraction. One coach arrested last year, other assitants more worried about what they look like on the sidelines than what product they put on the field, does not look good for the Vikes. And I hate it for Julius Bratton, watched him since he was a Soph wating his turn behind the big horses, and now he is carrying his team.
  6. Just for the record, April Thomas left no question in anyone's mind last night, on the floor, just who exactly was the player of the year in 10-AAA. She may not wear the crown officially, but she has the title!
  7. Lavergne will play Clarksville High Beech will play Henry County Wilson Central will play Dickson County Gallatin will play Northeast At the Northeast gym last night, they annouced that the NE/Gallatin game will be Monday at 5:30, any confirmation on that??
  8. This could be one of the best girls games in the state tonight!! Dickson County 23-6, 10-2 in distict, with both district losses coming to.... Northeast 28-4, 12-0 in district, ranked #6 in the state by the Tennessean What a match up! District MVP Kayla Milby vs. who many think should have been MVP in Northeast's April Thomas And let us not forget, the regional tournament for these teams will be incredible with Mt. Juliet, Smyrna, etc. I will say it, this will be the best regional tournament in the state, top to bottom!
  9. We will broadcast the 10-3A Girls Championship game on Friday night from Northeast High School locally on 1400 WJZM-AM (so bring your headsets) or if you want to listen on the internet, just log on to www.WJZM.com and click on the listen now button at the top of the web site. We wanted to carry more games, but conflicts with APSU and UT Radio did not allow us to do so, but we get the Girls and Boys Championships on air this Friday Night!
  10. Simple Question: How do you go undefeated in your league, and not be coach of the year? The justification for the Men's coach of the year was that he went undefeated in his league, and so why does not not apply on the ladies side?? And April Thomas is the player of the year this year, and last year! Anyone remember who was player of the year last year? Anyone remember April taking her to school in the district tournaments? This young lady has been robbed for two years in a row!
  11. mkhhawk, according to the box score in our local paper, Cheatham Co. was 42 of 52 from the charity stripe. Central shot 15 of 23 from the line.
  12. We are going to carry the Ladies and Men's championship games on Friday from Northeast High School. We wanted to carry more games, but with conflicts with APSU and UT Radio, we only are able to get the championships on Friday on the air. If you are coming to the gym, bring a headset and listen to 1400 WJZM - AM. If you want to listen online, go to www. WJZM. com and click on the listen live button on the top of the web site.
  13. Dickerson basically quit the team @ CHS, but did not follow through with it. Coach Ross's way of punishing him was leaving him off the all District team. There is not doubt in watching that team and looking at the box scores that Chauncy was the lead horse on that team, so this is obviously a personal matter.
  14. I know that coming into the season all the talk was about Northeast and Dickson in 10-3A, but this Clarksville High team is for real! And it starts on the Defensive end. Quick hands, very active 2-3 zone, that is the difference. Offensively they do some nice things, still a little helter skelter at times, but on the defensive end, they are the real deal. As far as the game vs. Northwest, NW scored 4 points in the first quarter, and 5 in the 4th. Yes, Coach Ross did bench the starters in the final frame, but I don't know about the quiting and all of that. Northwest could never get into a flow on the offensive end, could not get it inside to Dickerson, and play inside-out.
  15. Tuesday Night Results: Clarksville 72 Kenwood 59 - Freshman Caldwell goes for 26 Northeast 71 Hentry Co. 56 - Drake Reed drops 29 on the Patriots Rossview 57 Creekwood 42 - Bolden with 18, Hawks above .500 at 10-9 Dickson Co. 72 Northwest 46 - Vikings strugling to find help for Dickerson at 2-11 Friday night we will have Rossview @ Northwest on 1400 WJZM, tip off approx. 7:45. Also, Clarksville Sports Saturday every Saturday morning from 10:00 to Noon, Coach Ted Young from CHS will be a guest.

  17. Game One - Clarksville High 70 Rossview 53 If you are going to play the Wildcats this year, you better be ready for quickness and a zone defense that is hard to beat. CHS held James Bolden, who averages around 18 a game, and whose lowest point output of the season had been 15 points three times, well last night he finished with 9 points, first time all year he did not hit double digits. CHS had a solid night from the free throw line as well, which lead to the Cats victory.
  18. The War Eagles live and die by the 3, so if they get hot behind the arc, I really like their chances. A cold shooting night out there will allow Pfaff and Reed to really cause havok inside against and undersized Sycamore team. Look for Northeast to look to run early and often.
  19. Every Tuesday and Friday Night we will have a game on air from Clarksville. I thought I would share the schedule with anyone who is interested. 1-4-05 = Rossview @ Clarksville 1-7-05 = Northeast @ Rossview 1-11-05 = Kenwood @ Clarksville 1-14-05 = Rossview @ Northwest 1-18-05 = Northwest @ Clarksville 1-21-05 = Northeast @ Northwest 1-25-05 = APSU Game on Air 1-28-05 = Clarksville @ Rossview 2-1-05 = Kenwood @ Northeast 2-4-05 = Clarksville @ Kenwood 2-8-05 = Either Northeast @ Kenwood -or- Northwest @ Rossview 2-11-05 = Clarksville @ Northwest 2-15-05 = APSU Game on Air 2-18-05 = Clarksville @ Northeast 2-21 through 25 = District 10 AAA Tournament at Northeast We may also be covering the "Border Battle" day at Kenwood with has KY teams coming in to play @ Kenwood.
  20. 0 Techs on either coach. Coach Ross actually got up out of the coach's chair last night in the third quarter. The refs actually put the whistles away in the guys game last night after wearing them out in the ladies game.
  21. Enjoyable High School Game last night with the Indians and Vikings. Chauncey Dickerson was a beast on the glass all night. Central had a hard time getting him off the boards. Nothwest's pressure defense did not bother the Indians as much as many thought it would, but in the fourth quarter, the Indians, who basically had only played 7 players all night after a Monday night game, looked a step slower than the Vikings, who had not played in a full week. Suprise of the night might have been the outside shooting of Robby Vielma. He was 5 of 8 from behind the arc, including 2 from there to start a 16-4 run to start the 4th quarter. If the Vikings can get that outside shooting from Vielma and Donte Williams, to go with the inside game of Dickerson, the Vikings could right the ship for the year. Central just needs to find consistant outside shooting. They have the post players, and the heart and the guts you need, but they need someone to be a threat away from the basket to loosen up the paint for Smith, Dunn, and the other post players.
  22. I love it, trash talk at the highest degree. This is the game of the night this Tuesday night on 1400 WJZM radio or WJZM.com. Take your headsets to the game!!
  23. Yes, Northeast won tonight 89-52 at Montgomery Central. Northeast senior SF Drake Reed lead the way with 37 points on the night, Thomas Pfaff added 14 and Jonathan Briggs had 10. 11 of the 13 Eagles scored tonight, the only thing the Eagles did wrong was Free-throw shooting. Reed was 7 of 17 from the line himself, let alone the rest of the Eagles. MCHS was lead in scoring by Cody Dunn with 22. Strong night for the Soph. forward. The Indian guards would drive to the basket and dump off to the post players and Dunn got a lot of points that way, plus made some tough jumpers as well. Central just could not handle the full court press by Northeast. MCHS scored just 2 points in the first quarter, and trailed 18-2 at the end of 1.
  24. The Basketball slate has started on 1400 WJZM-AM Radio. We will do a game very Tuesday and Friday nights, except during the Christmas Holidays. I will try to list a full schedule for those interested. Anyone can listen for free at www. WJZM .com
  25. Thanks for the compliments, we enjoyed that game as much as any we have done all year. Clarksville played one heck of a football game, but 3 turnovers just costs them. The turnover to start the second quarter in my opinion the biggest, had been moving the football, and were in Franklin teritory. An early score for the Wildcats would have given them all the confidence in the world, but it was not to be. Best of Luck to the Rebels next week, and I hope you don't have to beat someone 10-7 again!
