  1. this should be fun. Let's see, a screen name that was created last night at 10:52 comes with nothing more than the quote that I brought forward. At least some thoughts to your post and back them up with examples or something to argue your postition. I would. My opinion is not more valid, I am just more willing to argue the point with some history, data, examples etc. to try and make it. Sorry your offended. Make better arguments.
  2. Lauderdale, Where do you think the best draw for the Championship would be in State? I think I know the answer. The problem lies in the fact that certain cities and areas of the state would oppose moving the contest to the biggest fan support area. If this were a business decision, and someone failed to make this financial move, their job would be on the line.
  3. Well, I assume Dbltech is the person who runs a kids club somewhere, that is what he said. He went off the deep end of the pool with some comments about he was the one to raise the money, get the cafeteria for wrestle space and stuff like that. Then some diatribe about small schools vs. large schools and my post regarding that subject. Not sure what he meant, I went to the most recent post and could not figure out what the heck he was talking about. Just as I was re-reading my post and getting ready to respond, his post disappeared. All I know was there was an angry man on a keyboard somewhere, pushing so hard on each key that his fingers must be hurting. Very Strange.............
  4. sorry,,,,call Al Miller, he has the results.

Hey Girl, Not those ND irish guys....the Father Ryan Irish guys......k?
  6. You two crack me up. Why can't a small school build a feeder program? Why can't they find a place to wrestle? Let's see,,,Boys Clubs, middle school gyms, old Armory, cafeteria...and many more options. Find a person who is willing to teach the kids and mentor them. Stop saying it can not be done. I hear you cheer on another thread when Hamm tells the middle Tennessee wrestlers to stop saying they want to make it to state and to start saying they are going to bring home medals. I believe the quote was Amen Brother! It takes years, yes a trans Atlantic trip, whatever. How else would it get done?
  7. Walkenvol, Good college try on that one, but what post does irishdad have on here that is not a cheerleading song for the "Irish"? And he is a mud-puppy of a mud slinger. Please let this dog lie. LOL
  8. Then there will be no effect on the duals tournament and we can look forward to some really creative moves, like we have been used to.
  9. I think it will make the duals a totally different beast than it has been. Most wrestlers will not be able to go down as easily as they could bump up, based on the body fat rules. If that holds true, then an opposing coach should be more able to game plan a line up that he may face, i.e. going up. I think it will still be a chess match in moving the pieces around to try and make the most beneficial match ups that a coach can.
  10. Sometimes bad things happen to good guys. I would not rely to to much on something being worked out with the TSSAA to change things.

bkpres, up to your old jokes!!! good one.
  13. wrestlemom, I can't believe I am doing this, but you got Soms confused with irishdad. Soms only asks who you are, not angry in tone. irishdad is who dragonwresler was addressing. oh, no need to reply for I will not answer.
  14. Best of the West, At the risk of you thinking I am long winded, I agree with you. It seems like anytime you question a person that happens to be a coach, the entire alumni from that school goes up in arms about the coach's integrity being challenged. I can tell you and you can check all my posts, that is not the case. If you ask the question without a bunch of emotion wrapped up with the question, it seems like you can get away with it. (but not for long!) Oh, the why not the ref's deal. No one is emotionally attached to them as a team. So open season on those guys is always desired. short enough?
  15. Ohhhhh Best of the West. Your a good fella and I would enjoy the chance to pontificate with you. See ya Sunday.
  16. Pinu46, I like your post but I disagree with a portion of it. While it is good to remember who the coach is and who the spectator is, it is also a part of being a spectator to question what has been done on the field, mat, court, pool, etc. That is what Monday Morning Quarterbacks do. Besides watching the action unfold being the most fun, the next most fun is to talk about all the "what if's". As long as you do not go personal on the coach's character and leave the emotion out, questions should not be prohibited. Especially on a public message board. Just my monday morning quarterbacking opinion.
  17. sly, It still does not change what my thoughts were, just the example used. I was not aware that Bradley did not weight in their JV. There is a tremendous amount of behind the scenes moves going on that we truly do not have the advantage of seeing.
  18. Tex - we will have to agree to disagree on this one. Agreed.
  19. The point of the duals tournament is to win a championship, not give a team a full match so they feel better about their team. You must survive each match with a win and try not to have injuries that may prevent your team from losing a future match. Even letting the JV wrestle in a match that was over early, like the Maryville match, still could put a wrestler in a position to be injured and thus not available later in the tournament. just my humble opinion.
  20. Walkenvol, I am okay with that answer. However, BayouBear stated in a post that there was a guy weighed in at 160 (jv). I disagree with the comment that they stand absolutly no chance. They stand no chance if they do not try. I will agree that if I were in Las Vegas that I would not put money on the jv guy to win. But that is why they wrestle the matches and not just mail them in.
  21. Okay, delaWarr and Tilt43, good morning fellas. I see you have been composing and I have read and considered your points. Good job by the way. delaWarr, If you will read what I have posted on this thread you will see that I am not questioning Coach Henry's decision. I am wondering and trying to understand the decision. I even noted in another post of mine that Coach Henry probably has an excellent reason for his call, I have given him his due as a Coach without being ugly and without an all knowing attitude with my questions. On the Dan Gable example that I gave, the point was not the preparation with Larry, it was that he went out against an outstanding wrestler that most informed people would say that he did not have a chance against. He had to wrestle Dan to prove that he did have a chance, otherwise no chance. Tilt43, I brought your quote forward because you numbered your issues. my comments are numbered below in synch with your issues: 1. I agree completly. 2. I agree he makes decisions based on what is best for the team, I disagree that we should not question their motives, why not? I just want to understand, that's all. 3. My point exactly. That is why I am asking the question, someone way closer to the decsion than me could shed the light on it. I am not the person to answer it for sure. Now, for the Dan Gable thing again, I gave that example along with four other ones. You should read my post (you should read it - it's really good). Anyway, I gave examples that were even better for the situation that generated this thread. You also help make my point for my by telling how many more titles Owings won after beating Gable. Gabel beats that guy 99 times out of 100. But not on that day. If I am harsh, then I apoligize. If I am persistent, too bad. And lastly, and do not be offended, it really does not matter if you are from Soddy or not, I would still appreciate any comments you have regarding this thread.
  22. Motel 6 and yes. We'll leave the lights on for you.
  23. Botw, Your right. What has gotten into me. BayouBear, please tell me. Better?
