  1. I guess grass is always greener on the other side. Good luck to the new coach at Red Bank, I hope they do well.
  2. Who said you were not playing by the rules. just the way it is. just a hard pill to swallow for the folks at Brainerd, Ooltewah is not the only school, look at the McClendon kid that went to signal, you could about throw a rock to his house from BHS.
  3. man no need to feel sorry, I was just asking a question, I just know when I was at Brainerd the kids that went to Ooltewah in the area rode a bus to Brainerd high then caught another bus which took them to Ooltewah.
  4. is that the same Pittman that went to Dalewood middle school, I think you might have another kid that went there as well, Hayes? That's what stings if you are coaching at Brainerd. I think kids should be able to go to school were they choose , but it still stings. Ooltewah has managed to get some good ones, but who can blame the kids for going there.
  5. If a social studies position opens up there I am going to do what I can to get there! I have two jobs close to home I am waiting to hear from, if that does not happen soon I may come out and talked to the principal! he probably remembers me from Brained, I was the only white guy on the team. Thats what I was referred to at Brainerd was the white coach for those that did not know my name. Lol. I really liked it there hated to have to leave.
  6. When I coached at Brainerd we went to Giles co. In the second round of the playoffs, I feel in love with the place, by far the best HS stadium I have ever coached in. If I was working there they would have to run me off. I met the Principal and he seemed like a great guy to work for. Great hospitality!
  7. I think East Hamilton probably has the best coaching staff in Chattanooga. They are drawing a lot of kids from other programs.
  8. He may have, I would think if he left to go anywhere it would be to coach with his brother in GA. He would probably make close to 70k as an assistant. David is more of a option guy like myself, and Chad will run some option but is really more of a wing t guy. Myself I really like mixing the two up. if he has left Giles it is news to me.
  9. I don,t see coach Barger leaving Giles County. If I was in his shoes I would stay put, their facilities are great, football community, and plenty of sundrop.
  10. All you can do as a new head coach is just outwork everyone, and let the chips fall, because in the end that is all you really have control of. Good luck, I know Moore co. Has a rich tradition.
  11. Yes I have. You can email me at coachpossum@yahoo.com
  12. polecat the whole Sequatchie Valley is a great place to live. It is called Gods country. Great place to raise a family, moving there myself very soon. I say apply, I have known the administration for years, the assistant principal is a football guy himself, probably has coached for over twenty years. The people I had issues with there are gone, I think you would really like it. I think the right coach can go in there and win eight or nine ball games next year.
  13. I think the only person that can answer that is Barnhart, anything else would just be speculation on anyone else's part. I can only say look at the facilities Whitwell has improved on in the last 15 years. Most of the work came from the community and the people that work there.
  14. Sequatchie County, Whitwell, Red Bank, Soddy Daisy, and Brainerd From 1997 to 2012. last couple of years I have worked with various schools, on installing the option offense out of gun and double wing formations. Have worked with a couple of schools on how to defend it. Really don' t like sharing the latter info with just anyone.
  15. Whitwell did have a strength and conditioning program and the middle school did well this year. Potential is there.
  16. Tyrus would take it if offered. I coached with him for almost three years. his sis is probably going where he goes, I coached with him for almost three years. He will eventually be a head coach and people are going to say wow where did this guy come from. I have been in the profession a long time and I have never seen a 29 year old more ready than him. Reminds me a lot like Kenny Cobble, if you folks remember him. Drew Lioness from Red Bank is going to be another good coach in a few years to come. nice to see these young guys that I have worked with turn out to be fine young men.
  17. The flash cards were to let them know how much time they had to left to answer the question. I am like you guys I have never heard of anything like that before. I think if time is an issue they should email you the questions before you interview, that way when you get in you can make it short sweet and to the point. I have had one interview that went that way and it was very professional. like I said the guy I got my info about did interview for the central job, but I am in no way going to tell who it is, however he is a great guy. I know I interviewed at this one school in Chattanooga in 2008, they had not had a winning season in about 5 years, had not been to the playoffs in about six. they asked me what my goals were as far as wins and I said I plan to make it to the playoffs and have a winning season. The man doing the interview told me that my goals were not lofty enough because if they did not go 8-2. And make a deep run in the playoffs he would be highly disappointed. I told him to get ready to get disappointed, because that probably was not going to happen. They hired someone else, that team went 6-4 and lost in first round, just like I said in interview. Same guy came out in paper and talked about how thrilled he was with the football team. Anyway I got a good laugh out of it. I have really interviewed with some people that have been clueless about what it take to develop a winning football program, after they have had loosing seasons for years. It is not easy, and it does not happen over night. X's and O's easy part, changing culture of program, very difficult.
  18. I heard the interview process was a joke. They had flash cards after they asked a question, and really asked some very stupid questions. Not sure I believe that, but that is what I heard. Leads me to believe if this is true that one they don't have a clue to what they are doing, or two they want someone they can micromanage, or three someone is lying. I would rather believe the latter. Anyway good luck in the search. I think with the right person central can do some very good things.
  19. I still wear mine too, Hope things are going well.
  20. Well heck Tyrone, now the secret is out, now everybody is going to be eating their cornbread, you know you don' t have to tell all the winning secrets. Instead of keeping it real you need to keep that info to yourself. Now don' t go telling folks about the week old pintos, sliced tomato, and onion. Lol. Good one Tyrone. Where I come from we have been known to put players in the hayfield!, they get to put hay in the barn and money in their pockets. So on Thursdays when we say the hay is in the barn, it has a deeper meaning. You might think I am joking, but I am not.
  21. I really like Tyress Ward from Brainerd he would be a great hire for this position. He is high energy, high character, and eats, sleeps, and breaths football. I really believe he is as good as or better than EK slaughter. I also think a lot of kids from Dale wood would probably go to Red bank if he was hired instead of Brainerd or Ooltewah. Then again Red Bank also has some good coaches on staff, as I have mentioned in an earlier post. they are in a good situation. Go Lions!
  22. Anyone from Ooltewah know witch school Coach Shannon went to in Florida?
  23. Very kind of you wingman, however I am a social studies teacher and the position is P.E. I am sure Mr. Holtcamp will make a good hire, Barnhart seemed like a good Coach. I will be glad to get back to the Valley. the house we bought in Whitwell is about ready to move into! weather is a hold up for time being. Just my luck to have one of the worst winters we have had in a while.
