  1. I'm new to Knoxville and was just curious who the top teams and players to watch were in the Knoxville area. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
  2. This is set to be an exciting ball game and i would love to watch it. i only have two arguments that i've seen so far and that is the fact that people are calling jurick soft and that taylor can stop alex. i agree jurick had a tendency to play a little passive in the past couple of years but come on people it was his freshman and sophomore year. i've seen some highlights of his games this year and the kid isn't looking too soft now and he compliments wells' game perfectly. now, as far as taylor stopping wells, i totally disagree with this because i remember watching them play last year in the district and i recall taylor having to be removed from the game due to the fact he couldn't handle wells on the offensive or defensive side of the ball. i think wells is a special player and has the talent to play wherever he wants. good luck to both teams, they are both talented teams and very well coached, this promises to be an exciting game. (a little extra, the point for east ridge, bradford i think is his name, is a very solid and smart point that has returned and not getting the credit he deserves)
  3. i'm trying to help one of the surrounding players out and get him on a team.... he can run the 1, 2, or 3.... the kid can do it all, pass, handle, score inside and out, defend..... if anyone is interested please get with me on here and i will give you my information and the player's info
  4. the assistant they are referring to is Chuck Keef, not me..... as far as gettin the job, i haven't heard anything concrete... an announcment will probably be made after spring break.... if it is Chuck, they will have themselves a good one, he cares about the program and i think will help the girls a lot
  5. brandan wright from brentwood academy and thad young from mitchell high... also ashley houts (dade co... right on the tn/ga line) is representing the chattanooga area on the girls side
  6. This just in... Coach Phillips is your new coach at South Pittsburg.... as a close friend and former player of Coach i wish him the best of luck and i know he'll make the folks in SP very happy... congrats once again.... -Your PAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL
  7. i believe they are referring to me on this one... i was given that nickname due to my dad..... only a select few call me that so i'm curious who most of these people are
  8. ....and where do you get your information????
  9. They would have to do the same thing that was talked about earlier... they would have to name a faculty member head coach (or keep coach roberts head coach) and let me run it.... if it was offered and the boys and parents wanted me to then i would love to have it...
  10. Only a handful of people call me that... i'm still trying to figure it out
  11. i meant it like south pittsburg is keeping david on ice for jasper.... he is just "renting" a room at sphs until something down the road opens up..... i meant that jokingly but you never know what the future holds.
  12. why are you posting like david? you may be home at your alma mater.... but you are just renting out a room for coach phillips...
  13. i did play for coach phillips... and i guarantee that any of my teammates would take up for him the same way... he's a good man and a good coach and where ever he is offered and/or accepts, he will have success... i wish him the best of luck and hope that him and his family are happy with the decisions made
  14. i just want to comment on the part about david's record.... david coached the last winning record that marion has seen... not only that, the last double digit win total.... take into consideration that this was his first coaching job and he was somewhat "thrown to the wolves" with this likes of lowery from sequatchie, dragoo from arts and sciences and other experienced coaches.... not to mention that the chattanooga district he was in is still very tough to compete in... david is a very good coach with a lot of potential to be a great coach... so whenever he decides to take the reigns of another team, they will be very lucky to have his services...
  15. I'm thinking the JV record was like 12-6. They had a very good season and the losses came against some pretty stout programs. Why the reference to Marion's JV?
  16. i wasn't pointing fingers, i was just stating in general. if roberts does give it up, it will be on his own terms. despite the record, he has done a very good job with the cards dealt to him. all of the players that have played for him look back and respect him for his abilities. personally, i think he should hang on.
  17. I just got to thinking after reading through these posts, why are these rumors started? Coach Roberts is still the basketball coach and i would take it as a personal shot if people were going behind my back saying that this coach should get it or this coach or whatever the case may be. I think this shouldn't be brought up until the position is officially open.
  18. hold the phone, let me clear the facts up a little bit here: monteagle is NOT two-time defending state champs, they aren't even conference champs. they are a good team with a couple of good players but not defending champs in anything. but nontheless congrats to lakeview.
  19. CCS and Howard look to be the future of 6AA. i agree with everything said about CCS but the same goes for Howard, they only have 2 seniors and no disrespect to them, they do not play very much. they had 2 jrs, 2 sophs, and a freshman on the court for majority of the championship game. but the sleeper in the young talent department is East Ridge, people tend to forget that Jurick is just a SOPHOMORE.... this kid is goin to be something special. he is a beast on the boards, crashes hard, and has a great stroke... if he ever applies himself watch out. another thing, coach goddard always replaces his talent leaving with equally good players. As far as the district tourny goes, it wasn't disappointing whatsoever. the teams played their hearts out and i think there was only one or two blowouts the entire tourny. there's a lot of good talent in this district and these boys put on a great show. i do want to touch on one thing..... best player in the district was always a toss up throughout the year but i think this past week proved that Wells from east ridge is the man in that district. he stepped up his game when he needed to and he didn't disappoint. him and taylor went head-to-head in the championship and taylor couldn't handle him. taylor is a great player in his own right, don't get me wrong, 2nd best player, his game isn't anything to roll your eyes about. anyway, best of luck to everyone in 6AA that made it to region, represent us well, and for the teams who's season is over, work hard and looking forward to a competitive season in the fall.
