Loretto is playing some of their best basketball right now. The earlier loss to Summertown was a good thing. It gave a chance for the team to refocus and come together. The bigs are playing very well right now. You had 4 double digits scorers against McKenzie. I do not believe they will overlook a really good Huntingdon team tomorrow night.

Well, tournament regions getting underway tomorrow. Any upsets out there ? I think the Wayne County vs McKenzie game ought to be a good one. Wayne County could sneak out a win in this one. What do ya'll think ? Any other games of interest on upset alert?

Sounds like Clarkrange and Pickett had a good game. Would not surprise me if both of these teams in the state this year. Gibson County took care of business tonight too. I think GC will get to state as well.

Well I guess that means Class A is apples and Class AA is oranges, so that means Greenfield and Loretto are apples. I'm ok with that.

Just got word from an administrator that Loretto has 470 students listed this year. Our graduating class for 2020 has more students in it than what will come into next years 9th grade class. I hope this will put this to bed on the classification issue. What's even better is all of our players are homegrown too !!!

Seems to be several posters get caught up on how many students are enrolled their school or someone wants to tell you where you should be classified. Can't we accept the classification we are in and just let it stand at that. If you can't, well that's your problem. Loretto is in class A and that's what we compete in. We've played AAA and AA teams and we can play with anyone. If they change our classification, then we will compete in that one, but for now we are in class A. It's tournament time, so why aren't we talking about great ladies basketball and leave the classification to the higher ups. I believe Greenfield and Loretto could compete at the highest level this year. Good luck to all teams still playing.

Loretto put 4 quarters together against a good Summertown team. Loretto's post played their best game of the season tonight. They are capable of doing that each night out. Guard play was very solid across the board. Good team win and we could be doing this again in about 10 days, but Huntingdon and McKenzie will have something to say about that.

No question this will be the 3rd battle this season. These teams do not give either one inch. The atmosphere ought to be wild ! If your bored or don't have anything to do, you might want to come watch this one.

Not sure Trousdale will pull an Eagleville, but I know they are excited to be Region bound !

WOW! First upset of the tournament. Clay County loses to Trousdale County by 8 for a play in game. That's the beauty of tournament play, you can throw out records and have a new beginning. Clay had just beaten Clarkrange a few weeks ago.

Anyone see any upsets in district games in you area ?

Congrats to Karly on being named a Miss Basketball Finalist ! She is more than deserving of getting this recognition. She's not only a great basketball player, but she's a fine young lady off the court. Good luck Karly and hope you win this award !

I know for a fact you are 100 percent wrong. I know Loretto tried the last 2 years to get LCHS on their schedule and they would not play Loretto. It would be a big money gate too for both schools. Does not make any sense for the county rivals not to play.

Hey, don't Paul Bear Bryant me ! The Bear was always pointing out how great his competition was before his teams thumped you. Lol ! GC will be ready to role in the state tournament. I have them as one of the 8 in my forecast. Glad ya'll are rebounding from losing a really good player. Good luck moving forward.

How did the injury happen ?

I would say that about all of Lawrence County Girls basketball as a whole. Girls basketball in Lawrence County the last 20 years has been the jewel of sports as a whole in the county. We have been blessed by great basketball by all 3 high school teams. All these little girls from their communities want to wear the black and gold, purple and gold, and blue and white. That's is why it is so important for our coaches to teach their players to play with class and act likewise. They are very important role models for these up and coming players we enjoy watching on the hard court.

Summertown was down 21 in 2nd quarter and made a great run to end the half down 10. Summertown came out the 3rd the way the ended the half and got it tied up within the first 2 minutes. Summertown took the lead in the 3rd, but Weathers hit a 3 at the buzzer to tie it up. Loretto jumped out to a 9 point lead, but to Summertown's credit they fought back and it went to the end with Loretto winning. This game is no different than last years games, it is a dog fight. I expect the same moving forward. I don't think anyone wants to catch either team in tournament play.

I'm going with LCHS Lady Cats ! By 6 !
