Ryan McGowan had his 3rd straight double-digit tackling performance. This sophomore has a huge upside.

You can't forget that Whitwell beat Boyd in 2001 when nobody thought they had a prayer. I think Whitwell may do better than you think because Boyd's passing game is not what its been in past years. The Bucs still have an awesome running game. Peardon is a top-notch athlete and Akins is a proven leader.

Whitwell struggled early but rolled to a 29-0 victory over Bledsoe County. The Tigers move to 3-0 after pitching their second straight shutout. They will get a huge test this week when Boyd-Buchanan comes to town. Boyd looks to be the favorite to repeat as 1A champions and beating them will be a huge task. I don't expect a Tiger victory, but then again no one would've thought we would've beat Boyd in 2001. How does everyone think this one will play out?

Who are some of the leading tacklers in 1A? I was just curious because Whitwell has a Sophomore LB named Ryan McGowan who has 25. I think thats pretty good for someone who is just a sophomore.

If Bledsoe only has one offensive weapon, then the Tiger defense should have a pretty good night. Whitwell will come out on top in this one and run their record to 3-0 heading into the game with Boyd-Buchanan.

Whitwell has 38 players this season. The talent level is up, but the coaching is the reason these boys are where they're at. Wes Green is one of the best coaches in the Chattanooga area. Especially considering what he has done to turn the program in Whitwell around.

Whitwell will host Bledsoe County at 7 PM Friday Night. The Tigers (2-0) are coming off a huge 29-0 victory over Copper Basin in a game where many had picked the Cougars to come out on top. Bledsoe (0-2) lost to Sequatchie last week 32-7. How does everyone think this one will play out? Excellent job by the Tigers all the way around. However, Whitwell still needs to cut back on the penalties. Ross McGowan would've had another 100 yard game, if he hadn't have had some runs called back. Parris, Pellam, and Sartin had good games in the backfield as well. Sam Huckaby played well on the defensive side of the ball, as well as Alex Smith.

Well, it's not like the Pirates need Robinson this week anyway. This is the best week an SP player could miss.

Temple is a better team than people give them credit for and Tellico and Towns County, GA aren't very good. The Tigers should lock up a playoff spot and get off to a 2-0 start heading to the game with Bledsoe. Does anybody have any additional information about Copper Basin?

All I know from the Whitwell game is from what I have heard. I am away at college and trying desperately to keep up. Sophmore LB Ryan McGowan had 11 tackles for the Tigers while Junior FS Marcus Manning added two interceptions. Senior DL Drew Shadrick intercepted a pass and ran it back for a town, while going 3 for 3 on PATs. I heard that Whitwell was hurt by multiple penalties. Like I said this is all that I have heard from my boys. I know nothing about the Copper Basin game, but I do know that they lost to a Tellico Plains team that was 0-10 last season.

Friday, Whitwell (1-0) will travel to Copper Basin (1-1) for the Region 3 opener for both teams. Whitwell beat Temple 21-20 in a nail biter last week, while Copper Basin beat Towns County, GA 14-13. The Tigers were hurt by the Temple passing game last week, but should be able to handle the Cougars this week. For the first time in a while, Copper Basin's backfield is actually better than the line. The line is much smaller than in previous years. Look for the Tigers to win this one and lock up a spot in the playoffs early in the season. Anybody have any details on Copper Basin or an opinion about how this one will play out?
