  1. I totally agree with your picks dpd. Temple will take the championship to advance to the regionals.
  2. Give me your picks and reasons for District 5A -- which begins this Tuesday (Feb. 24th) at Temple. Temple (8-0) Grace (4-2) 21st Century (2-2) Boyd Buc (0-5) Copper Basin (0-5)
  3. Well, you're entitled to your opinions -- but you still didn't comment about Caleb Skogen? And I wouldn't say Temple was "crushed" by the Owls. You still need to give Temple some credit for being a good ball team and having some quality players. And from reading some of your posts -- you're one to talk about someone else being "dumber than they sound."
  4. Hey balla! If Skogen is not a good player (as you have made comment about numerous times on CT) how could he score 20 against Brainerd and help keep the game as close against a team you predicted would beat Temple by 39 points? Plus he had a good game against Lokout Valley Friday night with 34. Just a question for someone who seems to think he knows something about Temple basketball. I know you are partial to your Owls of OHS -- but if I recall they got beat by Brainerd on Jan. 20 with the same score as Temple did. Again just a question. Can't wait to get an "intelligent" reply. Nothing personal -- again -- just a question.
  5. How do you figure? Grant it -- Cook is good (no one denies that), but to say that he can't be stopped is ludicrous. And as far as the "giants" -- they're really not that good. I mean, come on, CCS only beat Temple by 5. I don't think I would count my chickens until they're hatched. I'm sure Temple is anxiously hoping for a rematch against the Chargers.
  6. Well, this one was closer than some of you thought it would be (not mentioning any specific names). Brainerd comes away with the win -- but it was closer than the final score shows. It certainly wasn't a 39 point win as someone predicted. The Crusaders were only down by 4 at the half and they were within 4 with about 30 seconds left in the game, but they ended up having to put the Panthers on the line hoping for missed foul shots. Brainerd pulled further ahead in the end by getting the job done at the line. Leading scorers of the game were Caleb Skogen (20) and Sean Wadley (16) for Temple; and Corey Sanders (19) and Andre Mapp (12) for the Panthers of Brainerd. Hats off to both teams for a hard fought game. Brainerd 59 Temple 51 Sounds like a similar score of a game back on Jan. 20th?
  7. If Brainerd wins -- it won't be as bad as you're saying. You've got to give the Crusaders more credit than that. They do have a pretty good defense and I believe the game will be closer than people think. I may be wrong -- but aren't we all sometimes? Even though I'm a Temple fan -- I'm going to say that Brainerd "should" win this one by at least 10. Brainerd 74 Temple 64
  8. I would consider Temple to be a "young" team. They have no seniors on the team and two of the starters are freshman (Dee Newson and Seth Skogen). They have another freshman who comes off the bench (Josh Smith) on a regular basis. They also dress out about 2 or 3 other freshman. The rest are juniors -- I believe, maybe 2 or 3 sophmores. They have a bright future for the next few years.
  9. The game is at Vance Gym on the campus of Tenn. Temple. Game time is 7:30.
  10. Let's see --- I believe Howard beat CCS 69-58.
  11. How will Temple do against Brainerd on Thursday night?
  12. yeah -- why is that Oldie33? Good question. Yes, finally for a change you're right about Temple not being Howard, but I hardly understand your comment about CCS being 10x's better than Temple. And what does bringing up Temple have to do with this post? There you go again -- running your mouth off against Temple.
  13. Dude! There you go again -- making comments about Skogen. Just admit it that Caleb has talent. I really don't know what it is you've got against Temple players --but you've really got to get over it. Caleb is one of the best players in the city and no matter what you say about it doesn't change the fact. Maybe you should at least go to a game to see him play and then say something about it. And, no, he isn't Jake -- and that is not a bad thing.
  14. What are your thoughts on Chattanooga Christian getting beat by Howard?
  15. Well, let's see -- I believe Chattanooga Christian got beat by Howard 69-58. Oh that's right --- Fatchance is always right!! I forgot.
  16. Fatchance, I don't even know why I'm responding to you -- but here it goes. I'm not quite sure who you are -- but it really doesn't matter, because it's obvious you don't really know what you're talking about. Temple has a good team. No, their not what they have been the last couple of years, but they are very talented in a lot of ways. Yes, they have some tough losses -- many of which they really should have won, but it does happen. Not just in the high school ranks, but in college and pro's. And no, it's not time to step aside -- especially to you. Temple will have a great program in the years to come -- I guarantee you of that. And as far as your comment that you are always right . . . WAKE UP!!
  17. CCS will more than likely win this one -- but I think the Eagles of Grace could get a win if they can shut Jon Cook down. But I really don't see that happening -- so I pick CCS by 10 over Grace. CCS 69 Grace 59
  18. Why are we still talking about McCallie and CCS predictions?
  19. I agree totally with 11833 and SuperSteve. I couldn't have said it any better myself. In a way I'm glad Temple has some losses to their season. Maybe this will be an incentive for the Crusaders to show themselves and others they can play and win. I'm looking forward to the next few weeks.
  20. Dude! How can you say that Temple is "No Good" and that they have "No Chance" at State? Yes, they've lost some games -- but they are better than you give them credit. I believe they can make it to state -- if they play their best in district and region games. They'll no doubt probably have to beat Grace and CCS to get there -- but it can happen. The Crusaders have the potential to be a great team -- if they will start their games like they finish them (with lots of intensity and tenacity). I hope the Temple team proves me right in the next few weeks and gives it there all in the remaining games of the season and in the playoffs. If they prove you right in the rest of their games -- then I'll say, "Oh well, there's always next year!"
  21. Jon Cook and Caleb Skogen are a couple of the best players in Chatt. -- I've never seen Henderson play, but I understand he's a great player.
  22. Just a correction: Temple has 3 Juniors and 2 Freshman who start -- and another freshman who gets lots of PT off the bench.
  23. No -- these aren't the "old 4-A days" -- that's true. Times do change and have changed -- that's what makes this game we call basketball so good. And yes, I do understand your post that CCS was leading Boyd by 45 in the third. And yes, I was at the CCS/Temple game, but I didn't see Seth Skogen throw up any "prayers". If you ever watched SS play -- you would know that he has a great shot. And as far as the "Tourette's Syndrome" comment -- I'm sure SS was just reacting to the way he was lighting it up. Whether it was right or wrong for him to do that (nod his head and shake his arm)-- doesn't mean you should make light of the fact that some people do have a terrible neurological disease such as Tourette's Syndrome. And yes, I believe you are right when you say you are "biased" when it comes to CCS. I guess I am too when it comes to Temple basketball, so I would have to disagree with you about Temple (on its "best night") not being able to beat CCS (on its "typical night"). Maybe in time we will get an opportunity to see if that is the case.
