  1. I meant moreso at the 5A level because there are a number of 5A schools in Middle Tennessee that have played for the "chip" in the past 10 years. But this notion that the real football is played in the East is laughable. You must have forgotten about all the private school powers in Middle Tennessee like MBA, Goodpasture, David Lipscomb, Ezell-Harding, Donelson Christian Academy, Christ Presbyterian Academy, Battle Ground Academy, ......all of whom have played in title games in the past 10 years. Other than Maryville, Alcoa, Oak Ridge, D-B, and Red Bank's Gerald Riggs years, who in the East has consistently been good?? Shoot, I can't name another contender. Sevier County was good in the late 1990's with Matthews, Youell, and those guys. D-B can't get out of the first round and plays in an athletically inferior region. Your argument doesn't stick.

Murfreesboro Riverdale, Murfreesboro Oakland, Brentwood, Ravenwood, Franklin, Nashville Glencliff, and Hendersonville are Middle Tennessee 5A schools that have played for titles in the past 10 years. I admit that this is somewhat skewed by the East/West split that sends some Nashville area schools West in the playoffs, but the point is that these teams play each other with regularity, scrimmage and play 7 on 7 in the summers, and are ready for the playoff wars. Trust me, Ooltewah may beat Smyrna, but its not going to be because the Bulldogs were "WOWED" by their speed. I mean, there is the potential for a Ravenwood- Smyrna game next week. Those schools are 20 mintues apart (if you know the Rocky Fork backcut) and have already played in a heated game less than two months ago.

You can't really compare this arguement. Simply because Nashville 5A schools get a 2 to 1 shot on the East Tennessee schools. There are 2 Regions in Nashville, one which splits to the west (which is not every year; but normally is weaker than East Tennessee Football) and then you have a region that splits into the east division in the playoffs. So Nashville has a shot to get 2 teams in the Championship game every year where as 5A teams from East Tennessee only get a shot at putting 1 team in it a year. So it is really unfair to compare whick section of the state has had more teams in the Championship game. I understand your arguement but it just isn't really fair. If you think it is then if East Tennessee gets a team in half as much as Nashville area schools then it should be called even.

And not to mention The Region from Nashville that goes East and all those East Tennessee schools have to deal with Riverdale every year!!!

  2. Classless. For an Ooltewah fan to get on here and criticize and downgrade a kid who has nothing to do with who voted or how someone voted him what ever is classless.

But I guess that can be expected from a program that has some good wins but now gold balls to show for it.

First off its no Gold Balls to show for it.. Not now gold balls..

But wait two weeks and see if you can still say that.. cause that will be 1 more than Farragut has ever had in Football...

  3. In depth insider, any chance of you residing east of Nashville? I only ask because I see no one on your poll from west Tn.

Good Guess.. I just dont think the West Tennessee teams are as strong as the teams from Nashville East... I think every state championship team will come from Nashville or East of Nashville this year. I just believe that is where the best Football is played. I include White Station at the 10 spot but I still think looking at the scores on their schedule that West Tennessee is just weaker in football. Maybe I will be proven wrong.

Like I said I think every state champion this year will be east of Nashville or from Nashville..

    1A- Friendship Christian or Hampton

    2A- Alcoa or Goodpasture

    3A- Knox Fulton

    4A- Maryville

    5A- Ooltewah or Ravenwood

    Division II

    AAA- Brentwood Academy

    AA- Knox Webb

    A-Davidson Academy

  4. Congratulations to the Owls. You guys showed up big tonight and proved that you were the superior team. I expected a much closer game. It is possible that it could have been closer had Farragut been healthy and played well on special teams, but I still think Ooltewah would have won the game as they are the better team. As the 5A representative for East Tennessee and Region 2, I wish you guys well the rest of the way and I will be pulling for you. I apologize for over reacting to some of the posts earlier in the week. It just rubbed me wrong that nobody even thought Farragut would play a tough close game. As it turns out the folks who predicted a blowout were absolutely right. All I can do is eat my crow and tip my hat to the Owls ! Enjoy the victory and then go show those Middle and West Tennesseans how the game is played. We'll catch you guys again next year !

    Sincerely,

    FHS_Admiral

friendz, don't make excuses about why we lost. yea we had some guys out but ooltewah was clearly a better team. their Dline is great and their offense is so balanced that they're really tough to defend. i think farragut played hard and competed but in the end the more deserving team won. i hope the owls take the gold b/c i their a classy group and i dont want to see 6-4 ravenwood win again. take care of smyrna first and represent 2-5a well.

Thank you two for being so gracious in your loss and not trying to find everyway to make excuses and defend your team. Farragut is a great football team, they had a great year and if they were not in the same Region and Bracket with Ooltewah would probably still be playing football. Although I still believe if they didn't have all the injuries the game would have been closer, but still have the same result in the end. Great year Farragut.

Even though it really doesn't matter now I believe that Marshall proved he was the better back Friday night running for 170+. He did it on the ground and recieving. Sterling had 145 yards but 45 of those came on his last carry. Don't get me wrong he is a great back, impressed me all night, especially on his leaping touchdown run. I thought he was just a powerful runner, with good speed but not super fast. He was hard for a great Ooltewah defense to bring down. Marshall is just so strong pound for pound with blazing speed and amazing cutting ability. He is a hard guy to catch and bring down.

Great Game Friday Night. Good Luck next year. Go Owls!

  5. After watching film on their QB Ooltewah could definately struggle. Looks like he has a great arm and accuracy, plus he looked like in that video he does well under pressure. The only thing is on most of those film highlights he had all day to throw, and against Ooltewah he will not have all that time.

The big Wide Reciever could give Ooltewah some trouble to if Ooltewah plays Lansden this week. I wouldn't if I was Ooltewah, the looked just as good without him last week and the back-up has several inches on him. Ooltewah does have the advantage of having both corners being over 6'1.. Which will help Ooltewah stay with Wilkes kid better. That is as long as Ooltewah goes with their line up from last week, or else Wilkes could give Lansden alot of trouble.

Could be a shootout because I don't think Smyrna can stop Ooltewah either.

  6. Will be a good game I think. The only thing that worries me about Smyrna is that there Qb is supposed to be good, followed by good recievers. I have said all year that Ooltewah's big weakness is the secondary and if Smyrna comes out throwing the football then Ooltewah could be in big trouble.

The only thing I noticed is that Smyrna threw 8 times for 3 completions against Riverdale. He did throw the ball 17 times completing 8 of those against LaVernge but he only threw for 62 yards. The only one that I think could bring doubt to Ooltewah is the game Sonny went 15 of 26 but still only for 148 yards. Those passing numbers don't look to scary to an Ooltewah fan. Smyrna will struggle to run the ball against Ooltewah like everyone has all year. Ooltewah's front 7 is very strong.

Ooltewah however is good at getting to the passer and making opposing QB's make bad throws, and Ooltewah DB's will make you pay if you throw a bad pass. But I do not think it is hard for Recievers to get open against Ooltewah's Defense, but you have to have good protection for your QB.

I garuntee you that Smyrna is not faster than Ooltewah as an overall team. I have not seen a faster overall high school team in a long time....

  7. Sevier County threw a whole bunch... 33 attempts... But the secondary is their weakness.

Yeah and all the hype about their QB and he totally let me down. I was expecting him to be lights out but he didn't impress me at all. Well let me see a team that passes the ball alot and has a QB that can hit his recievers..

  8. All I know is that it doesn't matter if their starter got hurt as long as....

There back up QB can throw the football!! If their QB can throw the ball then they will win this game. Just don't wait till the fourth quarter to start throwing it. Sterling will get some yards but he will not be near as productive against a strong Ooltewah front seven.. (only picking up 80 yards on 27 carries the first meeting 3.2 yards a carry).. But if Farragut comes out throwing then they can pick apart a weak Ooltewah secondary who has already lost 1 of their starting corners for this game. Granted they may be better off without him but that has been Ooltewah's weakness all year and as soon as Ooltewah comes up against a team that throws it a whole bunch then Ooltewah will struggle, and Farragut has the best chance to do that because if Ooltewah wins Riverdale will run the ball, but if they were smart then they would pass it....

  9. Ooltewah has a new school coming to the area soon too..

And the only reason Ooltewah has any room to be "arrogant" coming into the Farragut game Friday is because the Owls are 12-0 This Football Season..(Nothing in the prior years matters Friday Night) And they already own a victory of Farragut this year when they had their starting QB. Now he is gone, so you can see why most Ooltewah fans see that the win is only a grasp away.

  10. whos going to be fullback next year

    825651059[/snapback]

My guess is Kyler Burke. He ran some at full back this year when Marcus Williams went down. Also Sean Sanders, but his size might hurt him.

I would like to see Marcus Turner get a chance at fullback. He is big and can carry the ball well, I just don't know about his blocking ability.

  11. I'm not so sure he'll run the Wing-T at Hooterville!  And without Dewayne, the Owls offense is just as strong with Hunter Hydas, Terrance Lowdermilk, and/or Marcus Turner.

Well from what I have heard, Loudermilk can't keep his grades up and stay out of trouble either.

  12. Well boys and girls Benny Monroe is your new head football coach at Ooltewah. Was probably the leading canidate the whole time for the job. I heard rumor of other names but never really found any surface for any names besides Benny Monroe.

Now that we know he will be the new coach at Ooltewah, here is a few thoughts.

Not only is his star running back suspended from school, but sources say he didn't even pass a single class the last nine weeks. All sources say that he more than likely will not even be eligiable due to grades. I say that Benny Monroe will be in contact with his teachers Tuesday afternoon to see if there is any credit that this young man can do.

And another thought... Throughout Benny's three title runs he ran with famous Wing-T offense. Will we see that offense being ran at Ooltewah High School next year??

  13. Here is the real Region 3 AAA Schedule-

    Monday- Quarterfinals

    Game 1 - D5 #1- Bradley vs. D6 #4 Red Bank = 5:00 CST (6:00 EST)

    Game 2 - D6 #1- Ooltewah vs. D5 #4 McMinn County = 8:00 CST (9:00 EST)

    Tuesday- Quarterfinals

    Game 3 - D5 #2 Cumberland County vs. D6 #3 Soddy Daisy = 5:00 CST (6:00 EST)

    Game 4 - D6 #2 Brainerd vs. D5 #3 Cleveland = 8:00 CST (9:00 EST)

    Thursday- Semifinals

    Game 5 - Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 4 = 4:30 CST (5:30 EST)

    Game 6 - Winner of Game 2 vs. Winner of Game 3 = 6:00 CST (7:00 EST)

    Friday- Finals

Winner of Game 5 vs. Winner of Game 6 = 7:00 CST (8:00 EST)

  14. Well does the Cumberland and Cleveland game really put a twist on things. Now the Ooltewah and Brainerd game becomes even more important. This really puts even more pressure on Ooltewah and Brainerd. Assuming Bradley can hold off Cumberland and Cleveland can beat McMinn then it would put the winner of the Ooltewah-Brainerd game in the bracket with McMinn, Cumberland, and the winner of Soddy and Red Bank. Where as the loser would have to be on the same side of the bracket as Cleveland and Bradley. And its not that a team wants to be on the same side of the bracket as Cumberland, but they just don't want to be on the same side as Cleveland and Bradley. That makes a huge difference come Region Tournament time.
