I believe CAK can win this game. From the PrepXtra stats, QB Harb looks like he can throw with the best of them - regardless of school size. He's got several receivers with quite a bit of experience (they get lots of practice most Friday nights). The kicking game is strong. The O Line has done a great job of giving Harb time to throw. I've seen them look shaky on run defense but surely Coach C has had them working on that area. Perhaps there may be a few out there who remember the Warrior's initial playoff trek in 1993. After an up & down 5-4 season they drew a first round matchup with the 10-0 1A top ranked Cloudland machine at their house. If you've ever been there I believe you'd agree that it can be a very intimidating place to play. More pickup trucks than you've ever seen in one place at a time. The Highlander following hovering over you on the hill like the Rebel army getting ready to pounce. The home boys jumped out to a 30-13 halftime lead and it looked like things were probably over. But the Warriors brought out the west coast aerial offense in the 2nd half. The defense stiffened. With 5 seconds left the Warriors scored 6 to tie it at 30 and the extra point was good. Coulda heard a bunch of pins drop as the folks climbed silently into those pickups and slammed the door. I don't know anyone who ever really explained exactly how that contest went down the way it did. But while some don't believe in such things, others noted that perhaps the gforce was with them that night? As Yogi might say - "could it be dejavu all over again?" Go Warriors!!!

What about the Alcoa - CAK game? Thanks.

I also think this game will be much closer than the 1st meeting. CAK is much improved. Alcoa has also lost local fan support with their tacky run-it-up tactic last evening. Maybe they thought this was the BCS and they'd get extra credit in their next game for total points scored? How do you bring an Alcoa fan back to reality? Show him the film of any Maryville-Alcoa game....... Go Warriors!!!

Mr. Gunter, Even if you didn't go to a Christian school, your attitude would be poor. But if you'd just take a minute to re-read a few of the scriptures you've been taught you should be doubly convicted. If you take the time to consider it seriously you'll realize that Jesus definitely wasn't part of the "Land Rover" set. In fact, the Pharisee "Land Rover crowd" of the day were the primary ones that Jesus spoke to about the hypocrisy of their lives. Festus, please accept the apology of Christian folks who post to these forums. My family had our son enrolled at a local private school for 9 years. But we certainly don't share Mr. Gunter's feelings toward you, the real Festus, or any other of the good-ole-boy crowd here in East TN. Coach Logan, if you know this young man you may need to give him some "coaching" on basic Christainity. Go Warriors. If the O line can keep'em out of the backfield Harb will light up the scoreboard, no matter how many rednecks or Festus's are in the crowd.

Mr. Kingbrian3, Interesting thing about that "Coalfield .3 seconds left" call last year: I was in the CAK Pressbox before the 1st home game this season. Two refs came in to work the clock. I got in a running-the-clock discussion with one and mentioned last year's Coalfield furor. "Yes" he replied. "I thought I was right on the job to get that clock stopped as it should have been with that small amount of time left." Who'd have ever thought it?

Mr. WrittenWord, Thanks for taking the time to respond. I agree with other comments that it's time to move on with the post season and let this unfortunate situation go. But I have a few final thoughts for you that I've inserted after your comments. First, Friday's game was the first this year that any member of that officiating crew worked an Oneida game, unless I am mistaken. We've always heard that almost everyone in Scott County is related anyawy so does it really matter if those gentlemen were from Oneida, Hnutsville, etc Second, CAK had TWO touchdowns called by back penalties. Both penalties were very obvious. Both happened right in front of me, and there was no doubt about either of them. That's not the way that my friend Coach CY saw it and I'm pretty sure that he's coached at least as many games as you've seen. Third, insinuating that Oneida was getting good spots simply because every measurement went in their favor is absurd. I don't think it's absurd at all. The CAK Middle School team played Fairview a few weeks ago and everyone in our stands saw the home boys (maybe they were warming up for the Oneida game?) dish up the mysterious "clock not running" scenario that occurred on 3 or 4 occasions during the final few minutes with CAK leading 12-8 and the home folks driving for a score. The MS Warriors won that one and went on to play Harriman at Harriman. In that game we saw the refs give the home boys at least a yard on the spot to clinch a key 1st down late in the game. We may not have a tape of those games to review but there didn't seem to be any question at all as to whether the home team was receiving some help. Fourth, the "running into the kicker" mishap should pretty much be a mute point because it was a bad call to begin with. There was no way that the contact should have constituted a penalty. As it was, though, CAK's initial response was to decline the penalty (even with the five yards, it would've still been fourth down). So the referee signaled that the penalty was declined. Then CAK's coaches said they wanted to take the penalty. Well, obviously you can't accept a penalty once it has been declined. The referee initially overturned his call to give CAK the penalty, then reverted to the original call after a discussion with his comrades. It was the right call. Period. Again, Coach CY saw it very differently. True it might still have been 4th down - unless it was a 15 yard penalty. But even if it was a 5 yarder they'd have been close to the 1st. I've heard a lot more detail about who the ref said supposedly declined the penalty, who for CAK was really authorized to accept/decline the penalty, etc - but my typing hand is getting tired at this point. Fifth, Zach was in on the touchdown run. I was standing right there and we knew he was in before the pile-on. As for clearing the pile, what should the officials have done differently? Shout down to the bottom of the pile and ask the ballcarrier if he was across the goalline? Get real. Don't know anything about this one but another earlier poster took exception to this call. Bottom line: There may have been one or two bad calls. I saw Oneida get away with a late hit on one occasion, and I'm sure there might have been another missed call here or there. But it certainly wasn't enough to change the complex of the game. None of the calls in question were bad calls. I'm glad to see most of the CAK fans on here very classy in defeat. It sure raises my respect for the school. It's unfortunate that there are always a few fans from every school - Oneida has their fair share as well - who choose to try to place all the blame for a loss on the officials. What's even more amazing is that the very person on here trying to do that was someone who wasn't even at the game. Finally, having been to CAK and witnessed the officiating over there first-hand, you guys sure have nothing to complain about. I don't think anyone (especially not me) "blamed" the loss on the officials. But it does seem well within the realm of possibility that they were a contributing factor. As I mentioned earlier, I don't think whether or not I was at the game is that relevant. Coach CY is one of the more knowledgable, conservative, non-confrontational, non blame-oriented people that I know. If he says it was one of the worst officiated games he's ever seen and goes on to describe a number of situations that seemed questionable (BTW he did NOT comment on the pile up touchdown) I've got to think that there's reason to question the officiating. FYI, the referees in Knoxville work games throughout the metro area. I'm pretty sure you know about the many strong teams in this area. If there were any of the black & whites that had decided to play favorites, they've got MANY more powerful and well known teams than CAK to cozy up to. Here's one final test of the depth of your football insight: How do you know that Knoxville folks might be smarter than Oneida folks? If you ask 10 Knoxville folks what white lightning is 9 of 10 will say "That's the type of lightning that we typically have in the summer time. It often starts very high in the sky and goes almost to the ground". But if you ask 10 Oneida folks what white lightning is 9 of 10 will say: "That's the stuff that Granpa used to make up in Possum Holler. You just followed the smoke til you came to that sweet, sweet smell". "Great stuff, almost as clear as water but kicked like a mule." "About the only thing you could do after drinkin' a jar was to referee a football game ............." Nice talking to you Mr. WrittenWord. I hope you don't take offense at my comments. Hope your team does well up there in Cloudland. If you need any tips, I believe there's a team called the Warriors who could tell you a bit about how to win up there in the misty clouds. BTW, I like your name - "WrittenWord". In the Ultimate Playbook the Written Word is known as the Logos. Maybe you got your name from the John 1:1-5 description of the Logos. If you didn't you ought to check it out sometime.

Mr. Ro, It's commendable that you're such an honest guy and also willing to apologize for grabbing Bowland by the facemask. But that's really not the point. The point is that if you did it (intentional or not) and it was obvious enough for many folks in the stands to see, it sure looks like at least one of the officials would have noticed. From the report I got the "4th down roughing the kicker declined" call was like something right out of the Twilight Zone. Again I wasn't there, but I also understand there was at least one (maybe 2?) long touchdowns for CAK called back by a penalty. I was also told that there were 3 or 4 1st down measurements for Oneida and the spots were always such that they made the 1st down. Could be just great effort or good play calling or ......... Almost any game I've seen (including NFL where they can do replay/reviews) there are one or more bad calls made. But if over the course of a game you see a consistent (and sometimes blatant) pattern, you begin to wonder. Plus, we all know that the "home cookin" factor does sometimes enter in, and may be more prevalent in smaller communities where local refs (where was this crew from?) fear for their family, their job, or the tires on their car if they make too many calls that go against the home boys. We'd have to look at the tape very closely and talk to players/coaches to really get a good bead on the situation. But perhaps it does make one understand a little better why the Oneida boys have had such success in making the playoffs over the years. But I am very blessed that the Warrior players on this thread are being so gracious about this loss. It's just another indicator that they've learned much from both Coach Young and the Coach of the Ages.

Warrior Watcher, I couldn't make the trip last night, but what I heard from a friend who's a former head coach and a pretty knowledgable football man makes "despite the very questionable officiating (64 yds. in penalties vs. 10 for Oneida)" sound like quite an understatement. Sure the Warriors played poorly at times, but beating 11 in pads and several in zebra stripes can be almost impossible. It's obviously too late for it to have any impact on the season, but I've already heard the suggestion that the TSSAA review the tape and perhaps give this officiating crew some time off without pay. But win or lose, the best thing about the Warriors is that the Ultimate Warrior's Life that's inside them can never be snuffed.

Coach L., Perhaps you're a bit woozy from running all those sprints up there on the baseball field. Things may not have looked that bad down there on the field, but when the Greenback defender (14 - Helton?) blatantly and with no provocation head slapped my home boy Yoakley at the end of a play that wasn't even to that side of the field, I was ready to jump the fence and exact some divine retribution. But as the ultimate Warrior said "old things are passed away and all (football) things have become new (again)". So let's just look forward to that 1st game. After we see whether Harb throws 4 touchdown passes or 5, we'll know how ready we are for those Kees!

I heard the Warriors were moving Yoakley to fullback and running the Power I this year. Also heard the faculty was taking another look at Cunningham's transcript for last year. There may be some discrepancies which could cause him to come back for another senior year. There are also rumors that the soccer team is indeed suited up in pads and that there will be a lot of kicking and biting going on at the line. As I recall, most everyone dissed the Warriors last year and things seemed to turn out allright. Go Warriors!!!

Excuse me, but the "Nation" was on their way to Nashville last year when they got scalped by the Warriors. The coach was so mad that he led a lynch mob to have CAK bumped up into the 2a bracket. They do have a decent team but they play dirty, lose poorly, and some of the fans are pretty ignorant too. Go Warriors ............

Thanks BaldCoach, I'm not an "official" voice of CAK, but I'm sure Coach Young and staff would also be interested in addressing any issues that existed on our side of the ball. If I'm not mistaken, it's going to be the Christians against the Christiams again next Friday (which I think is really cool), but may the blessing of the Lord be with you.

Mr Rcoy, Thanks for your very forthright post. I appreciate youir desire to oversee this thread, but I'll let that to the List Moderators. Unfortunately, in order to honor a family commitment I had to remain in PA until Saturday. But I've seen almost all the Warrior games this year and each of the preceding playoff games - including the Cloudland miracle! From the posts I've seen on the BB game. it seems pretty clear that the BB defense overwhelmed Cunningham and the proven Warrior passing attack and that Mr. Peardon singlehandedly ran through the Warrior defense at a pace that almost tied the NFL single game rushing record. I'm really not sure there's a lot of value in discussing the subject further at this point. I like Warrior football. But as I believe most of the Warrior team members would say, Jesus Christ is the most important person in the universe and we are commissioned to be His ambassadors whereever we go (including the Coach T Borads). If you really are a part of the Catholic program, I'd tend to think that the Father (maybe they call him Pastor now) would have similar thoughts for you guys. So have a joyous holiday season and let the Prince of Peace rule and reign in your heart.

Coach Logan, If you're really a "Coach" perhaps you might (after praying about it) want to take some action in reporting these character/behavior issues to the proper Boyd Buchanan authorities. If perhaps you're more of a "player coach", you (and perhaps some of your player-coach mates) might want to consider sharing your observations with the appropriate CAK authorities - in this case I suppose that would be Coach Young or one of his assistants. It does seem like both teams should have a priority of exemplifying the character of Christ even in the heat of the football battle. But as the scripture says, "the spirit is willing but the flesh is very weak". And it's also my conclusion that there are students at every Christian school who either aren't saved or are living lives that are very far from the Lord. If number 30 is truly guilty as charged (if so I'm sure some of his teammates also heard him), he's certainly fallen extremely of the Christian mark and might be helped by a bit of reproof from his coach and school. Perhaps you should consider taking your disappointment from the game to the Lord - He's very familiar with the subject after having been betrayed by His entire team (the disciples) just before the biggest game of His life, the world playoff title game against Lucifer & Diablo Tech! Proudwarrior4, Thank you for your thoughtful post. As a member of the CAK family, I'm especially glad to hear about the weekly prayer meeting. But I wanted to comment about the "luck" thing. I wonder if these commenters might indeed be sensing the hand of providence in some of the games, but may just not be familiar with the actions they sense in biblical/spiritual terms? In praying about this Warrior team and it's activities (especially here in the latter part of the season) I've personally had a strong impression that our Father was active in the matter in some way. I've had more trouble discerning how to pray this week since Boyd is also a Christian school, but it has occurred to me that in times past (Aaron's rod that budded, David & Saul) God has chose to demonstrate support for some of His kids over others. Anyway, as someone pointed out recently, this is a football forum not a religious forum .............. So all I can say with 2 1/2 hrs to kickoff is Gooooooo Warriors!!!

Nice to see that poetry is becoming a popular medium for this thread - to me it's a much more pleasant way of communicating than the "why don't you just eat crap and bark at the moon" technique. Smithke - thanks for taking the time to write up the Boyd dynasty - it looks they shoul be playing the Titans next Monday niight. There's what some folks would call a "prophetic" pciture of the Cloudland game that was given to a CAK fan before that game. I have it, but can't post it from my current location on the road. It was based on David and Goliath. If you read the story, there was ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that David could win. Battle experience, equipment, and everything else was on Goliath's side. But David had the one secret weapon and if you read the story, he knew it. Now I know that Boyd is a Christian School just like CAK. But I WOULDN'T count these Warriors out!!! But the bst thing is, regardless of who wins the SECRET WEAPON guy behind David's success is still in charge of the entire universe. To me He's clearly the most important part of this or any conversation. Chowman - I'm not sure you know my son; he's in 6th grade this year and played his 1st season as a Middle School Warrior. An unstoppable offensive line? Man eating linebackers? Outrageous speed in the secondary? A field goal kicker with 60 yd range? As they say over here in Knoxville - I'm just a ole country boy from East Tennessee. I don't have any film to watch so please help me understand why we're so outmatched by these folks. BigChow, My son is a Warrior through and through Although at football he's sort of new He was on the sidelines last Friday night Serving the team like the woman in John 4:7 Flossie, What the guy said on the Tribute thread is true - confession & forgiveness is the answer. Proverbs 16:6 & 1 John 1:9. Since this a football thread rather than a preaching thread - BB lost (twice?) during the season so they must not be invincible. What vulnerabilities do you see in their game? ATY, I know at least something about the authority of the Name I'm speaking about in these posts. You might want to consider that part of the mission is to place that Name and mindset before those that don't know Him. I'm sorry I misunderstood you in the other post - I'm pretty old and sometimes I get confused easily, especially when trying to digest what two or more people are saying at the same time. I really like those Warriors this Friday night. Look for the Slingshot offense to come out early moving the ball right on down the field. Since BB is a Christian school, maybe they won't hold, grab, bite, and head slap Yoakley as he's trying to run his routes like Cloudland, Midway, and especially "the Nation" tried to do. I'm hoping the refs will be watching for this stuff early so we can have a hard fought but clean game. Nathan, Everyone likes a good mystery. Like, how could a guy who swims like a fish continue to make clutch catchs behind, between and above one or more opponents defenders? I'm probably 3 times older than most of you guys, but a Son of the Ultimate Warrior and a CAK Warrior through and through. Speaking for the older generation, we're VERY proud of all you Warriors' accomplishments this year and praise God for what He's doing on and off the field. I only discovered that this Board existed last week. It's interesting and humorous, but my advice to you guys would be to spend at least as much time worshipping, praying, and reading the Word as you do posting on CoachT. Well I'm new to this discussion group and sort of used to calmer discussions. But, Flossie, since Boyd Buchanan is a Christian school and so is CAK, I'd say that, just like the Ultimate Warrior did 2000 years ago, the Big Evil has sort of been shut out from this contest and it will be merely a matter of seeing which tribe of the King of Kings will get the opportunity to play for all the marbles in Murphreesboro. Isn't it pretty awesome that 3 of the 4 Class 1a finalists are Christian Schools! And for whoever might be tempted to talk about the "recruiting" issue, it simply hasn't happened at CAK. Now ATY, I suppose if/when you read this you may again feel PERSECUTED by the "religious" content. But my thought is that it might be really a blessing in your life if you're exposed to different viewpoints. It might even help you to not be like the person who would say things like "that's the gayest thing I've ever heard" just because they don't agree with or understand something another person said. What was the "experts" prediction for the CAK/Cloudland game? I don't think it resembled the final outcome too much. I can still remember the silence that fell over Cloudland field when the Warriors completed their 21 point 2nd half comeback by scoring again with 5 seconds left. The Warriors may be underdogs again (even on their home field) but I wouldn't bet against them. Rumor has it that there's a twelfth man playing Rover for CAK - the same guy that showed up in the fiery furnace when Shadrach, Mishach, and Abednego were there. Do you know Him?
