Cordova has a highly touted running back that has been suspended for most of the season but is now back. Not sure if he played in the Ridgeway game or not, but he will be playing next week at Germantown, which as a Red Devil, scares me pretty bad. But Cordova will be a lot better than its record indicates with him playing.

Thanks for the info rhs. Yeah I know, that is awesome. I hope we can put up a good showing. I saw a preseason poll somewhere that showed them 10th in the nation I believe. I'm mad though cause I won't be able to get home for it. I have a retreat that I pretty much have to be at that weekend so it looks like I'll be missing the biggest non-playoff game we've ever had here. Hey do you know the reasoning behind Armbruster and Austin leaving? Just curious cause I hadn't heard anything.

Does anyone have scores from the Shelby County jamboree? I've looked through the board and didn't see any and the stupid CA only covers the city jamboree. If anyone here went if you could give a recap it would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah we are an old school, and I like it that way. I think it gives our school character and personally I hope it isn't renovated for a while. I think it gives our school and town more of a "small town" feel rather than a rich pampered suburb feel (see Houston). Which I like. Anyway, just venting my opinion. And oh yeah the wooden bleachers should stay too. Go Devils in 05!!!!

Our three losses came early in the season, one of which was to private power Christian Brothers, one Houston, and the other Whitehaven. Since then we have won seven straight and the team is looking like last year, they have really come together. As long as there's stars over Germantown, the Devils will run the wishbone. The thing we had last year that we don't have this year is an experienced quarterback that we can put the ball in his hands and expect him to make a play. We are starting a sophomore at QB and he has improved but QB is our one weak spot. Of course the upside of starting a sophomore is he will have mucho experience by senior year. Assuming I was to pick this game completely objectively, two weeks ago I would have probably had to pick Franklin. But after watching this team Friday night and the way the defense played in the second half especially, I really think the Devils have what it takes to go to the 'Boro again this year. This team has a certain aura of confidence about it that I really don't even remember seeing last year. Well I can't wait for Friday night. Franklin fans, bring lots of folks down here, the more the merrier. It will be a great high school football game, I don't think any team really has much of an edge over the other, it will come down to who wants it more. My pick: Germantown 20 Franklin 10

According to every rule I've ever heard of, the game is at Houston, and thats where I'm going tomorrow night. The CA doesn't always know what it is talking about, I would trust TSSAA first. Go Devils!

Germantown vs. Houston

Yeah it was disappointing we didnt get all the county schools in one region. Does anyone know why they didn't do that? It seems like an excellent plan to me. Anyway, region 7 competition will be much more heated next year with ridgeway and craigmont as somebody else said. But don't count Bartlett out, they are a decent program, just have had a few off years. If they get their act together, it could be a six way race

While inner city Memphis football may lag behind the rest of the state, Memphis bands have to be considered the best. Whitehaven is my personal favorite. You have not seen a halftime show until you've seen Whitehaven's! If anyone has seen the movie Drumline you have a vague idea what I'm talking about.

Good luck Franklin from a Germantown guy. We enjoyed coming up there last year (not because we won, I'm not being an a-hole) y'all have a first class program and first class fans, I would love to play y'all in the semis again this year. Franklin. We made the drive from Germantown for the 5A semifinal last year. The fans were gracious and hospitable and they pull hard for their team. I hope we can beat Houston and Franklin beats Brentwood so we can meet again and we can host this time.

Man! I can't wait for this one. I am coming home from college to be there, only to have to drive back to school for just two days of class before Thanksgiving. Thats a lot of gas money, but its worth it for this one! Double J, is there lots of hype around town? What are people saying? This is gonna be a great defensive battle, two awesome defenses. I would like to think Germantown's running game will push us over the edge, but like you double j I hesitate to give the edge to anyone in this one. What are y'alls opinions on this game? Two great defenses going at it, this will be a close, low scoring affair. I think Germantown has really come together as a team since these two first met. The offense has matured, even though we still have that inexperience at QB. This will be a great game. My pick: Germantown 13 Houston 6 On a side note: I just want to say that regardless of the outcome of this game, what an incredible run it has been for Germantown so far. While most teams have played 2 playoff games, the Devils have played 4, as we had to win our last two over two playoff teams to even get here. And in those four games: two victories over Collierville, number one in 8-5A, both at their place. This team has accomplished so much already this season. Thank you, Gtown coaches and players!

Germantown had 472 rushing yards against Collierville 2 weeks ago. Their defense couldn't slow us down then and they won't be able to Friday night. Germantown advances to a rematch against Houston. Go Devils!

Has anyone seen the movie October Sky or read the book Rocket Boys? Big Creek High was the school featured in that movie, where Homer Hickam went to school and his brother Jim played football. If you haven't seen the movie this probably doesn't mean anything to you, but I just thought it was kind of interesting.

This is the way I see it, let me know if I am right (I am assuming that Houston will beat Kirby and White Station will beat Hamilton) If Collierville beats Whitehaven 1. Collierville 5-1 (7-3) 2. Houston 4-2 (8-2) 3. White Station 4-2 (8-3) (why do they have one more game and does that affect anything?) 4. Germantown 4-2 (7-3) If Whitehaven beats Collierville 1. Houston 4-2 (8-2) 2. I know y'all think Germantown is ranked too high, but we could very easily be 8-0 right now. Every game we have lost have been decided in the fourth quarter and we have had a chance to win all of them at the end, even CBHS. I know thats not an excuse and good teams win the close ones, but Germantown is not out of anything yet and counting us out would be foolish.
