  1. I like how everyone says "do whatever it takes" That is a great lesson to teach kids. Isn't that ultimately what coaches and adults are supposed to be doing with these kids is teaching them about life? So tell them to do whatever it takes. Lie if you have to. Cheat on tests to get better grades. I agree that going up and trying to block a shot and giving a hard foul, or trying to take a charge is great strategy but undercutting or taking someone out is cheap. Don't forget these are 16, 17, and 18 year old kids.
  2. The games are on for tonight. I will see you there Pageman.
  3. Your analysis is correct PageMan. If Marshall wins tonight the 3-6 game would be Page-Loretto and the 4-5 game would be Lewis-Fairview. If Loretto wins then the 3-6 game would be Page-Fairview and the 4-5 game Lewis-Marshall. You probably already know this but the 4-5 girls game will be the 4:30 game Monday and I am assuminig the 3-6 game will be 7:30 if they stick to the normal scheduling of girls-boys-girls-boys. Thanks for all your updates. They keep us informed on all the district teams.
  4. I agree with thestuff. Also you can't block out someone who is already in the air and you can't block out on a lob either. If you don't want someone to dunk then beat them to the spot before they jump. Taking out someone who has the potential to pay for his college with his ability, maybe taking that away from him is not part of the game, or not a physical part of basketball or in good sportsmanship either.
  5. The first game starts tonight at 4:30. Lewis County Girls vs. Marshall Co. The 6:00 game is Page boys vs. Loretto. The 7:30 game is Giles County girls vs. Page and 9:00 game is Lewis County Boys vs. Giles
  6. I just wanted to thank Mr. Honesty for the nice post. I am glad that other people enjoy what we are doing. It is all done for fun and entertainment. Why anyone would take the time to get on here and put down other people is beyond me. Maybe that is part of our society's problem today. Thanks again Mr. Honesty, LCHSChick and all the others who enjoy what we do. P.S. imaviking- these events really do happen, it just makes them more fun to report everything on here. 7. I won't be there Tuesday night and Terry can't either but we will both be there Wednesday. I'm looking forward to getting back in action after a layoff. See you all there.
  8. I have enjoyed reading about the games recently but have not been able to attend. I thought that we were playing on Wednesday night but found out today that it had been canceled due to lack of interest. I think it is because people knew I would be playing. Ever since the six straight 3's I made to take over game two, two weeks ago all of the games have been scheduled when I couldn't be there. HAHA! Just kidding. Seriously though I would love to get back on the court, if for nothing else than to embarrass Keltner. Keep me posted on the when we might possibly get to play again.
  9. Tuesday night is better for me too. See you all there.
  10. I don't understand. Are the same schools which play football not playing basketball. If there were 5 classifications in basketball then each school would be in the same class for both football and basketball. Therefore with more teams in basketball than football it stands to reason that, at the worst, travel would be the same for football and basketball if not better for basketball because of the number of teams that play basketball. The bottom line is more people feel as if their school has a better chance to win in basketball with three classes than with five.
  11. Knight forgot to mention the domination yesterday by Buster. Buster returned to the park with little fanfare, amidst the unexpected return of Travis "The Legend" to the park for his 24th season. Buster started slowly but showed a renewed determination by quickly winning the final 3 games of the day. Buster seems to have refound the competitive fire which used to burn inside him. He worked hard on the boards, sometimes fighting off two and three fouls to power the ball into the hoop. At one point he even outhustled eveyone to the ball prompting his brother to say and I quote, "I've never seen him hustle that way even in a game." Despite two blocks by Evan and Jonah(which some called the best blocks of the day); despite spectacular play by Lavett(who seemed almost unstoppable at times); despite the successful return of Travis, showing he still has the love of the game; Buster still shined, at times looking like a man among boys, bringing the Memorial Park Times to name Buster MVP of yesterday's games.
