  1. Wouldn't hurt to have one or two more teams.....still time to enter...getting ready to draw brackets up Sunday or Monday.... e-mail TwistersTournament@hotmail.com
  2. I will try to list them -- after our tournament is over.
  3. We currently have teams from Unaka, Knoxville and Virginia areas with other teams undecided. Cutoff time will likely be Sat. or Sunday. TwistersTournament@hotmail.com
  4. The Fourth Annual Twisters Spring Classic is looking for 14-under, 15-under, 16-under or 17-under teams on the boys side. These are age groups that are sometimes hard to find tournaments for, but we already have teams interested. The tournament is April 2-4 in Elizabethton. We can accommodate most game-time requests. For more information, e-mail TwistersTournament@hotmail.com
  5. The Fourth Annual Twisters Spring Classic is looking for 9-under, 10-under or 11-under teams on the girls side. The tournament is April 2-4 in Elizabethton. We can accommodate most game-time requests. Also, we have solid groups in 12, 13 and 14-under, but are still looking for more. For more information, e-mail TwistersTournament@hotmail.com.

  7. Hey coachh17, you don't have to read the rules. I copied one for you. It is interesting how things work on here: "If you are under the impression that these are free-for-all forums, or that we somehow are a public discussion center that allows all FREE SPEECH, you can go elsewhere. This is a privately operated website and has established rules of etiquette. You are a guest here and have been extended privileges provided you follow our rules. These message boards are not your right. You are not given a right to post anything you want here. If you cannot deal with these rules, feel free to find an uncivilized forum out there." Maybe Buki has been re-directed to www.uncivilizedcoacht.com. LOL.
  8. The "man" who bashes high school girls on here has been silenced by the Queen. Hooray for the Queen.
  9. Fourth Annual Twisters Spring Classic. It should be a great event .... scheduled for April 2-4 at four gyms in Elizabethton. All are full-sized courts. Entry fee is $100. Three-game guarantee. Divisions are 9-under through 17-under, boys and girls teams. E-mail TwistersTournament@hotmail.com.
  10. thanks, brutus, I have some re-spelling to do...LOL
  11. The Cherokee at Elizabethton game on Monday, Jan. 19 has been canceled.
  12. Brutus.... Do you know for a fact Erika's name is spelled with a K, instead of Erica?
  13. Brutus I am not coaches_corner, though I know who is. And I do not have all day to spend on here under 15 different nicknames, though I find it quite humorous when players, CoachT regulars and others ask me if I am -- or accuse me of being -- coaches_corner, cyclonehomer, coachh17, betsyfollower, NoTact007, etc. .... I am, in fact, WriteStuff -- although I do plan on using a different nickname soon. Furthermore, since you seem to be a regular reader of the Johnson City Press, let me refer you to a column I wrote on Dec. 11, 2003. That should explain clearly why we didn't have the Cloudland-UH score last night or the Hampton-South boys game or any other game we don't have on a given night. You can find the column by using the search tool and entering "locality" in the empty search box and sorting "by date." It should be the first article that appears. I must say I was encouraged to see the Unaka girls game reported. But I don't know if Unaka or Johnson County called it in.
  14. What a thread. I agree with coachh17, some of these replies are downright funny -- if taken in good nature.
  15. I indeed ranked Bradley Central ranked No. 1 and White Station No. 2 because I witnessed the game between the two. Bradley Central is deserving of the No. 1 ranking at this time. However, there are numerous writers across the state whose votes count just as much as mine. Most of them chose to go with White Station, probably based on their three state championships in the last four years. I really can't argue with the No. 1 is No. 1 until someone proves otherwise theory -- and after watching White Station play, I think they definitely could beat Bradley in Mufreesboro in March.
  16. I am a writer who voted on the first AP poll of the season. Here are few facts people should be aware of: 1. Some Class AAA teams were listed as Class AA teams. You couldn't vote for them in Class AAA because the pull-down menu didn't have them listed. 2. I researched records by using CoachT.com's win-loss rankings. I checked out the teams with the best records and then looked to see who they played. Unfortunately, a team can slip through the cracks because of its losses. That almost happened in boys Class AA with Giles County, but I knew it was much better than its 12-5 record indicated and knew it had played a tough schedule. 3. Another problem with the poll is some writers vote based on their region, regardless of how good the team really is. Some smaller newspapers will even rank their "hometown" team No. 1 just to get them in the poll. This is absurd, but it happens. 4. As far as I know, there is no good way to figure out how good teams are across the state without the AP's help -- especially in the first poll. This year I received no listing of the state's "Top Teams" as the AP had sent out in previous years. 5. After viewing some of the responses on this thread, I will look at some teams who may have been overlooked this week. 6. Did I make some mistakes in the rankings? Yes. But I did try harder than some folks as I noticed Dobyns-Bennett with a record of 6-7 was ranked in Class AAA boys. 7. I'm not really trying to defend the polls, just trying to explain why they seem so ridiculous sometimes.
  17. I am a writer who voted on the first AP poll of the season. Here are few facts people should be aware of: 1. Greeneville and Memphis North Side were listed as Class AA teams. You couldn't vote for them in Class AAA because the pull-down menu didn't have them listed. 2. I researched records by using CoachT.com's win-loss rankings. I checked out the teams with the best records and then looked to see who they played. Unfortunately, a team like Trenton Peabody can slip through the cracks because of its four losses. That almost happened in boys Class AA with Giles County, but I knew it were much better than its 12-5 record indicated and knew it had played a tough schedule. 3. Another problem with the poll is some writers vote based on their region, regardless of how good the team really is. Some smaller newspapers will even rank their "hometown" team No. 1 just to get them in the poll. This is absurd, but it happens. 4. This year I received no listing of the state's "Top Teams" as the AP had sent out in previous years. 5. After viewing some of the responses on this thread, I will undoubtedly look at Trenton and put them in next week's poll. 6. And as for 7-AA, I am the only writer in the state who gave Jackson County a first-place vote. Yes, I know Livingston beat Jackson, but it was close and Jackson is the four-time defending champ -- and will stay No. 1 in my rankings until I can find a logical reason to remove them. I had Livingston No. 2, so there goes the 7-AA not getting enough poll respect theory -- and I'm not from the mid-state area. 7. Did I make some mistakes in the rankings? Yes. But I did try harder than some folks as I noticed Dobyns-Bennett with a record of 6-7 was ranked in Class AAA boys. 8. I'm not really trying to defend the polls, just trying to explain why they seem so ridiculous sometimes.
  18. Well, I think Happy Birthday is in order...although I don't know if your birthday is today, tomorrow or yesterday. I like basketball. What that has to do with Moe's birthday is of no consenquence to me.
  19. At that age...... Does he need a blanket on the bench? Is Ensure his BEVERAGE of choice? Do his bones creak? Does he forget things easily, like what play he just called? Is Curly much younger? What about Larry and Shemp?
  20. What do you know? You're just a Stooge. And how come you get to be Moe? And don't think for a second I'm going to fall for that thing where you hold your fist out and tell me to hit it.
  21. If the Cyclones can't overlook anybody on their schedule, their focus should be solely on Sullivan North.
  22. I didn't say which town. Frazier is a guard, who to the best of my memory scored very well on the Cyclones last season. I think she had 20 in one of the games. Just communicating and playing hard on defense are the keys.
  23. Last time I checked the schedule, Sullivan North was Elizabethton's next opponent....not Unicoi County. Last year, North had Elizabethton down by 11 points AT ELIZABETHTON. If not for a pair of extremely big 3-pointers by Valerie Kauffeld, the Cyclones probably lose to the Raiders last season. Plus, the Frazier girl has scored 42 points in her last two games. Plus, North beat Dobyns-Bennett on Saturday and Elizabethton lost to D-B. I know Redd and Baughman didn't play against D-B, but I guarantee that North won't look at it that way. The Raiders will be coming into town thinking they can win. The basic point is: Take care of North before worrying about Unicoi County.
