  1. I think this game could go either way. I have seen Moore Co. and Community back to back the last two weeks and they are both capable of winning this game. Moore Co. has a very illusive quarterback who can dance around behind the line until he sees an opening and then hit the hold for big yards. Community has a lot of team speed and can kill you with the sweep and they also have some good receivers that can go up and get the ball. Community is due for a big win and this could be the one. I was impressed with their team last Friday night and if they can cut down on the silly mistakes they could certainly beat Moore Co. Community and Moore Co. both have a BIG problem with holding penalties on their down field blocking assignments and they both had several big plays called back because blockers had a hand full of shirt. I will say that the team that can avoid the mistakes/penalties will win this game.
  2. Forrest is down a little this year but you can forget that... when Cascade comes to Chapel Hill all bets are off. What are your thoughts?
  3. On the blocked extra point, Community had 12 men on the field. How was that a bad call? On the onside kick, the Community player hit the Cascade player before the ball went 10 yards (TSSAA rule) Cascade's ball. Both called back TD's there because of holding and if you look at the flim there is no doubt that Community was holding. I watched the game and there were some bad calls, most games have some bad calls. Community and Cascade both played hard and it was an exciting game. Cascade won the game... move on...
  4. I have to say that was a great game to watch and one of the most exciting games I've seen all year. Community was well prepared for the game and executed their game plan well. This is by far the best Community football team that they have fielded since they started playing. I was especially impressed with the speed on the sweep plays. The ref's made some bad calls but they were not all against Community. The pass interference call against Cascade that lead to a Community touchdown where the ball was out of bounds and totally uncatchable was a very bad call. I saw lots of holding on Community that wasn't called and there was no doubt about the first Community TD that was called back on a holding call. I was standing 10 feet from the play and saw it with my own eyes. It was a good game and both teams played well. Cascade won and will move to Forrest next week. I hope Creed Rose is not hurt bad and will be back on the field soon.
  5. We got almost an inch of rain in Wartrace this morning. Looks like the field will be wet tonight... who does that favor, if anybody? The field drains pretty well but it got cut up in last Sat's Middle School Championship game. I think It might slow down the running game but it will be hard for the secondary to keep up with the receivers.
  6. I think that Forrest complained to TSSAA about Cascade's band playing during game play a few years back and TSSAA said "there is no rule against it". The band playing is not near as bad as some obnoxious fan yelling constantly… I’ll take the band any time… of course I favor the band because Cascade has one of the best, if not the best in the state.
  7. There was a football program at Wartrace High School until 1957 when it was dropped because there were not enough students to support it. Bell Buckle never had a football program that I know about. When the two schools combined in the early 70's having a football programs was being discussed before the building was completed. That "football mind set" was already well established in the Wartrace area and Bell Buckle soon joined in. There were lots of growing pains with Cascade's program and it took 30 years to get to there are today. I think that while Cascade has experienced considerable growth over the last 5 years Community has also and the next re-districting may well move Cascade to 3A but Community will not be far behind them. The TSSAA tries to keep districts evenly divided and nobody really knows right now there the cut-off will be between the districts. Whatever the case, I think Cascade and Community will always be big rivals. Lots of the students know each other, teachers often transfer from one school to the other, lots of kids transfer back and forth and we are in the same county competing for the same resources and attention. I expect a good contest Friday night. I think Cascade will win this one.
  8. It takes a few years to get a football program going especially if your school and community have always been focused on basketball and baseball. Community's football program has come a long way in the few short years they have been operating. This year’s team is the best one so far and they have performed well on the field. The one thing lacking is community support... and I don't mean parent or school support that is certainly there. I’m talking about the mindset of the community. The Unionville folks just haven't had enough time to really get excited about football. It takes years for that to happen and it will happen after a generation of two of players graduate and raise a family and their kids start playing. Having said all this... Cascade wins this one and will continue to denominate the series for several years... but the days will come that Community will be just as much a force to reckon with as they are now in other sports.
  9. Community comes to Cascade for homecoming... Can Cascade recover from a tough loss to Moore Co. and get back in the win colum or does Community continue their winning ways?
  10. It was a good game. Both teams played hard. MC got a lot of penalties and Cascade had turnovers. Either team could have won or lost on any given play. MC's QB was the difference in the game. I put in a call to Channel 4 telling them that next time Rudy comes flying over we are going to shoot that chopper down... KJ... we have never won when Rudy showed up. Good luck to Moore Co... I'm already looking forward to next year.
  11. With Twitter, Facebook, CoachT and the Duck... I won't have time to watch the game
  12. Hey guys, I'm back from a wonderful week in the mountains with my bride of 51 years. I hope both teams play their best ball tonight and leave it on the field. I have been watching Moore Co. vs. Cascade since Cascade became a school in the early 70's and Wartrace vs. Moore Co. back in the old Duck River Conference days... I am old, Wingman10, and I have seen a lot of games between these two communities and you can always count on a good game. Cascade is very young, starting lots of freshmen and sophomores witch probably accounts for the loss at Wayne Co. plus the fact that Wayne Co. was a lot better in week 4 than they were week one. Lynchburg has always been a hard place for Cascade to win and it will take their best effort to win this week. Cascade has the talent and can bring home the “W†but they can’t make mistakes because this Moore Co. team will make you pay. I think Cascade wins a close one… 24 – 21
  13. Huntland is having a bad year... this should be a "cake walk" for the Raiders. The rivalary from the Major's days is all but forgotten by everyone but us old guys.
  14. You were right 11, it wasn't much of a game... Cascade took the opening kick-off and scored; kicked off the Cannon Co. and they fumbled, Cascade took it in and scored again; Cascade kicked off again recovered the on side kick and scored again... all that in the first 6 mins. of the game. 41 - 0 at half time. 2's and 3's played most of the second half.
  15. The score will depend on which Cascade team shows up for the game... If the team that went to Wayne Co. two weeks ago shows up then Cannon Co will be able to have their way with Cascade but if the one that went Huntland last week shows up then Cascade should win.
  16. There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in this game. Will the trail jump the track this week or stay on the rail?
  17. Cannon Co. has a miserable record and hasn’t won a game in some time, but they are going to win one sometime. Will it be Friday night? Cascade looked to be back on their game last Friday night at Huntland after a poor performance at Wayne Co. the week before. What are your thoughts on this game.
  18. Coach Parker didn't make that call, the kid did that on his own. He chewed the kid out about it after the play. They practice the play and if the player thinks he can make the first down then he goes for it. I heard Coach tell him after the play, "I said kick the ball".
  19. We saw a completely different team last night from the one that took the field against Wayne Co. last week. They took care of business last night in the first half and the "ones" sat for most of the second half. Everybody got to play. Huntland is not Wayne Co. but Cascade was a different team last night.
  20. I think the Champs will get back on track this week and take care of business at Huntland tonight Cascade stings the Hornets 32 - 6...
  21. The worst thing that can happen to a young team, like Cascade is this year, is to read the paper and find out that your team is ranked 3rd in the state. The entire team was walking around on a cloud last week, no need to practice, no need to pay attention to the coaches... 'we are good'... 'the paper said so'... Well, thanks to Wayne Co., reality has returned to the locker room this week and I think you will see a different team come out and play in Huntland this Friday night.
  22. Will the Champions overlook Huntland like they did Wayne Co. last week??? Or, will they get over the loss and play ball this week?
  23. I wasn't there but I heard it on the radio (thanks to 930 AM) and It seems that Cascade went into this game with a little too much confidence and a bad case of under estimating Wayne Co. Wayne Co. has had tough start after being on top the last few years but we all had to know that they were going turn it around and put one in the win column sooner or later and what better chance than to catch Cascade on a three game winning streak with a bunch of young kids that were beginning to think they were really good. Cascade lost this game the same way Wayne Co. had been losing their first three games... mistakes, penalties and turnovers. If you take away the fumbles... it's a completely different game and Cascade probably wins. As we all know, the game is all about momentum and nothing kills your momentum faster that a fumble on the two yard line. I think you are right PRIDE, Wayne Co. has Cascade's number...
  24. Hey Butchie, these kids from Cascade apparently didn't get the memo on this being a rebuilding year. They are working hard and playing with a lot of effort. Keep those Hosers in line and we see you down the road...
