Like I posted before get S. Greene behind and ricker gets the Tech.He should have got 2nd one for going after refs and been suspended.

Looking at box scores this morning it is obvious that Rickers raiders wasn't there officiating.Big differnce in fouls from past 2 games.Good luck ladies from Betsy but beware a great shooter is coming to town. Watched her as a freshman and anywhere past half court she is wicked.

#1 thanks hoosier.... if anything South Greene ended up playing 5 on 8....the refs did everything in their power to get Happy Valley back into the game... not taking anything away from Happy Valley cause they played hard, but while playing hard they played without control and earned everyone of those fouls....if anything they got away with a load of crap. As for the refs, they are brutal, I will agree. They must have called 5 charges and 20 walks. Enough said! #5 everytime you're on here you complain about referees. during the South Greene Happy Valley game, both teams played hard but Happy Valley earned their fouls. towards the end of the game South Greene was up by 15 and the refs did everything in the world to get Happy Valley back in the game. it was the worst officiated game i've ever witnessed.....but South Greene still found a way to win....that's what the good teams do.....just sounds like sour grapes to me....just cause South Greene has beat you 3 times in a row without even playing good....in fact those are the worst games i've seen South Greene play.....you should change your username to #1 whiner

Thats exactly right walkingbear. A game as one sided foul wise in the 1st half it doesn't matter if the game is called even in the second half. Happy Valley starters are still fouled out while SG starters have no foul trouble. If 2 of those refs wasn't rickers then they were first cousins on his mothers side. Also aka its going to be hard for SG to play Pigeon Forge sitting at home listening to PG and Unicoi County playing. UC county by 5. UC gets up by 8 in first half and Ricker gets hit with a T for crying and getting water on the floor.

Who assigns the refs for the region. What region are they from? Region 1 AA sort of odd South Greene has 42 free throw attempts to 9 for Happy Valley. S.Greene shooting 2 shoot bonus at start of 2 nd quarter. HV gets in 1&1 with 1 min. left in game. Just looks like 2 of two refs was biased toward S. Greene. Everybody is beginning to see why S.Greene had so many wins this year. You could tell Ricker knew the refs was taking care of his team because he never was off the bench yelling . But never the less Unicoi County will prevail over the S. Greene rickerettes.

Happy Valley got about as good a dose of Ricker refs as I've ever seen. Fouls at end of 1st quarter. HV 9 SG2. S Greene shot 43 free throws

I guess as stupid as a couple of you sound you would have took a chance and played Weaver . Why ? Lose doesn't follow you. But of course you beat UC. So now you are happy. Same as winning a state for you. Since you are used to winning nothing. A district is you complete season.Sop as I said Congtat. enjoy it while you can. Region finl UC and Pigeon Forge. HV will beat S. Greene if Ricker doesn't bring his own refs.

You can't be given respect. It is something you have to earn. All district championship game is for bragging rights. Basically it means nothing.Win or lose you play Monday. I did read the post. Until they have won something that matters they haven't proved anything.Game meant nothing. Real meanings begins Monday. Weaver will be back if needed if not will play next game. Why worry with hurting it more in a game that means nothing. This time of year whats the use of gambling in whether you play 3 or 4th seed. Can't beat UC by no more than 3 with her out get beat by 20 if she plays. Hope UC see the cyclones in reg. finals but it looks like it will be UC against either SG or PF. Happy Valley VS Unicoi County in their bracket final. Just glad to see betsy not have to go down to single A ball to finally win a little something.

Why don't you first tell everyone just how you beat UC?You seemed to neglect to tell that you only won by 3 and UC was without Weaver. Her in the game its a blow out again. Wacky Watauga bracket shows problems in TSSAA system Thursday, February 19, 2004 By BILLY DIXON Times-News -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If nothing else, the Watauga Conference might have pushed things far enough askew to make the TSSAA stand up and take notice. If so, it'll be one of the few positive things that can be said for the District 1-AA boys tournament bracket. The conference tournament is set to begin on Saturday at Sullivan Central for four teams. Then it will begin again on Monday for two more teams. The other two schools will get their chance to compete for the first time on Wednesday. Sound complicated? Remember, this is an eight-team league. There's nothing hard about making a bracket for an eight-team league, right? Oh, not so fast. In all their wisdom, the conference coaches decided to come up with the most difficult, ill-conceived bracket of all. It's a bracket so confounding that Times-News graphic artists went scrambling for the Excedrin after designing a template just so we can run the bracket in the paper. The top two teams in the league have been awarded automatic byes in next week's regional tournament. That means No. 1 Volunteer and No. 2 Happy Valley will not play their first game until Wednesday. By that time, it's entirely possible that one of four teams will be playing their third game. The Falcons and Warriors effectively receive two byes. For finishing third and fourth, Sullivan Central and Elizabethton get a bye until Monday. The other four teams begin play on Saturday and must win two games just to make the Region 1-AA tournament. By getting greedy, those who made the decisions to make this happen have made a mockery of the system. Now, it's high time the TSSAA stepped in and set standards for district tournaments. Under current rules, the TSSAA only says that leagues must decide who will represent their district by a certain date, with no guidelines on how that is to be accomplished. The result is an asinine bracket devised by the Watauga. No such problem plagues the girls' bracket. It's a straight-forward affair with No. 1 playing No. 8, No. 2 playing No. 7 and so on. That's the way it should be. If the boys' coaches wanted the top two teams to automatically be in the region, then they should have forgone a tournament all together and simply qualified the top four teams based on the regular season. Of course, the money to be made from a tournament makes that a mute point. A tournament is supposed to reward the teams playing best at the end of the season. It's not perfect, but it's done in practically every sport at every level. A good team that struggled early in the season still has a chance to make a run in the end. What the Watauga bracket does, however, is punish those teams. That's the case much more so than the stated cause of rewarding the top teams. In a seven-team league such as the Big 7, someone has to get a bye, so it makes total sense to move the league champ forward. With eight teams, though, the reward for winning the league is that you get to play the worst team in the league. If you can't beat that team, do you really deserve to move to the next level? The answer is obviously no. What's funny now is watching all the coaches point their fingers in other directions. After talking with almost every coach in the league, I have yet to find one who admits to supporting this bracket. When things play out at Central over the next week, more and more complaints are going to surface. Maybe enough to make the TSSAA take notice. Big mistake because you could never be him because he has class and you don't even understand that concept. Second of all, even though this is a basketball thread, the game against Unicoi was because of the umps taking out their frustration on our coach. Wanna know how I know this? I was playing first base at the time and I know exactly what happened. My foot never left the bag. And should I even ask you where you were during the game. Oh yea probably in the bleachers which means OOPs you couldn't see Oh well. I hope Elizabethton wins this one with ease because even though I have friends at Unicoi I don't want you to have the satisfaction of a win. You say the umps were taking it out on the coach. What about the other games. The one win was a fluke and you know it as well as I do. Total scores of the 5 games UC and HV played. UC 29 HV 4. I guess the refs took it out all year by the looks of the scores. I was at the game and yes your foot was pulled from the base to quick.

ball.yeah,im not goin to lie,the refs did lean to our side part of the time.but thats called home cookin and every team gets it,but u blow it way out of proportion.i have seen those refs,except for the black ref,an all of 2 times this year,so i wont be surprised if we have different refs durin the tourney.we have won 12 other games this year,so unlike erwin,we dont need the refs to win. Home cooking. I thought the refs were supposed to be unbiased as to who is home or visitor. As to not needing the refs to win. You sure as heck did Monday Night.

I'll give you one, Unicoi would not play HV in middle school softball. I know! I called to schedule them! And why wouldn't Unicoi schedule them? Could it be because they only play conference games and is Happy Valley in their conference. Problem solved. Happy Valley joins UC, Indian Trail, TA Dugger, John Sevier, Ross Robinson, Vance ETC and make it the big 8 instead of big 7. That would be in all sports. So next year coach the ball is in your hands whether you play or not.

You drive like you say the length of the floor and run over 2 players and they get called for the block. Get real. Charlie called that play because he knew how it would be called because the refs had called blocking all night not one charge. Take your ref given gift and enjoy it. After the tournament you won't have these Wat. refs that kiss his butt.

Sportie at what level did you ref for free and where do you work so we can raise a little on you. Nice the way your kids were calling Erwin Kids faggotts and the way the guy thrown out was acting. I bet Charlie Bayless who is a tremendous coach and first class individual would be real proud of how his fans are acting It must not have bothered Bayless how his fans was acting. They was sitting right beside him and he made no effort to quite them. He is a teacher also I presume. It wasn't only the last call. I was peferring to. Thw whole game was the sorriest officiating possible. Sit back and watch how different the refs are when they are being graded. They look around in the stands before games ever start and know if Ralph or Charlie are their watching them. Most people wouldn't know them from Adam but the refs do and are their best then.

Is it just here or is it everywhere? This has to be a sorriest excuse for referees the TSSAA has ever sent to basketball games. I just hope they are required to practice safe sex. If there has ever been a more royal scr___ing than the Unicoi County boys team got last night at Happy Valley I'd to to know where it is. It is a down right disgrace that as good a good as it was was destroyed by such imcompetent refs.Right down to takjing a win away and giving it to Happy Valley. I just hope the TSSAA has the balls to watch the game films and have the guts to make sure those refs never call another game.

It wouldn't matter if Science Hill had Bobby Knight, The parents and politicians would run him off if their child wasn't playing as much as they thought they should. A school that would run off Bernie Young.That should tell what a coach is up against. But if they are looking for a coach I'd say Keith Turner is the next one.

Better get used to being a follower. That all the cuclones will ever be to the Lady Devils. Maybe the cyclones should go on down to single A then they MIGHT win a confernce title. Is it supposed to mean something that the cyclones lose 4 and return 3 starters. The Lady Devils lose 2 and return 4 starters. So don't look forward to next year.

Weaver, Sparks and Headley had good games but if it wasn't for 2 5'7" guards Lingerfelt and Stevens moving down and playing a whale of a game against the much taller posts of Betsy. Game probably would of had a different outcome. Lingerfelt played a heckuva game on defense and offense before fouling out early in the fourth quarter.

If the 4th and 5th fouls on Rikki was bogus then they were just covering the 5 or 6 she had that wasn't called.
