  1. For the size of Temple's team 300 is a good turnout. From what I've heard they don't have many players. They only have 127 in the whole school. As for the largest crowd. Sorry Hampton folks. It wasn't even close. you had a great crowd for having to come over 2 hours but I was expecting people to be spilling over into the endzones. That has happened several times against Oliver Springs and Wartburg and even a few Oneida games. I know my Sr year (91 season) we played Oneida the final game of the year for the district title. It was double OT and they scored a TD first. Their kicker hit the upright and they missed the PAT. We scored a TD and all Andy Schubert had to do was hit his and he was almost automatic. Tim Watson got a little excited and snapped it a little high. Shelley Burgess was the holder and he caught it and ran it in on the home side corner. It seemed like 200 people were on us when he went into the endzone. Needless to say, I've seen Trousdale, DCA and others bring that many people for a third round game. But it was a great crowd you guys brought.
  2. Pujo, i know they will likely play most years in the playoffs, but I wouldn't mind seeing that become a regular seaso match up. It will never happen, but it has the makings for a good rivalry. I do hope they keep playing in round 3 every year. We used to play Greenback every year before they were in our district. We played them in the playoffs twice during my time at CHS too. We played Copper Basin this year. It's just as far, if not further, that Hampton.
  3. Yeah, it looks like Coalfield's OC was a little too impressed at how McFadden from Arkansas played. Didn't work quite so well for CHS.
  4. Dog breath, Coalfield has about 45 players. That's still a lot for a 1A team. As for the play that changed the game. Well, it was the opening kickoff. Because Hampton kicked our ###### from pillar to post. Seriously that first INT was big. Coalfield could have used a few trading of punts with Hampton to settle themselves down. Maybe that would have made them realize they couldn't just line up and whip HHS. Instead they gave HHS the ball in CHS territory and HHS had momentum and went right at Coalfield and scored on them. By the time Coalfield started settling down, it was 17-0. I don't think Hampton is that much more talented. They are probably more talented overall, but not that much more. I do think they were more prepared and wanted it that much more than Coalfield. I will admit that it could have been much worse if HHS wanted it to be. Your coach let his foot up off our throats.
  5. Coalfield was not ready for what they saw last night. Hampton was prepared and fired up for that one. Coalfield looked flat from the start. They looked as if they took Hampton a little lightly. It is obvious Hampton is too good a team to take one bit lightly. They are very good on both sides of the ball. A very well disciplined Bulldog team. What I was most impressed with is how classy they were. I mean from start to finish. Most people probably didn't even notice, but after a short post game talk on the field, they all RAN off the field to the locker room. TOGETHER. I have never had a team whip my team and immediately become a fan of theirs. I hope Hampton wins it all. I was impressed. i am still proud of Coalfield. They showed heart even though they knew the game was out of reach at 30-0. They never quit. #12 is a player. Small, but quick as a cat. Great RB and great DB. I would have hated to see them with a healthy #25. Shut down the run and make CHS pass. That's the way to do it. And man did they ever. Every long run Coalfield had early was a result of a hold. Or at least a hold was made on the play. Great job all around by Hampton. Good season for Coalfield. Two great teams. One team was just more prepared and fired up. Good luck Bulldogs. Win it all now. I hope to see you guys in round 3 next year again.
  6. About 100 of the posts on this thread refer to how many posts are on here. I wonder what the Hampton fans are more worried about. The game, or the post count of this thread? I also find it funny that the Hampton fans are getting upset on here that the Knoxville News Sentinel are picking Coalfield. Uh, Hampton folks. How many of you have a subscription to the KNS? There are a few hundred in Coalfield that do. They are trying to sell papers. Some of you clowns uh folks care more about the game than the kids do.
  7. Didn't play bigger teams? heck every team Coalfield has played with the execption of Copper Basin, Sunbright and Oakdale are bigger. Coalfield is only a handful of students bigger than those three. Most they played have over 2X as many students. Their non conference games were Wartburg 2A, Oliver Springs 2A, Cumberland Gap 2A, and Copper Basin 1A. Cumberland Gap made the 2A playoffs. Oliver Springs and Wartburg play in the same region as Alcoa, Loudon, and Sweetwater. It's hard for them to win many games in that region. Coalfield has a tough time finding teams to play them. I am sure Hampton does too. There are very few 1A teams that we can play, and the 2A teams hate playing a team in 1A that might beat them. OS and Wartburg only do it because they are huge money makers. One thing i have found is that there is no way whatsoever that you can go by common opponent scores to figure out who will win a game. No way. Take the Oneida game for instance. CHS and OHS have a huge rivalry and get up big time for that game. OHS had to travel almost 4 hours to get to Hampton to play a game. CHS played at OHS. We've go less than 9 hours until it actually matters. This thread has got me pumped about the game.
  8. Cameraman lives on Guy Jones Road just past LBs. If you can't get a seat in there cameraman will fix you a sandwich. Guy Jones was a good man but he has some grandsons that are some big time hoodlums.
  9. Here are your official directions from Magnum. Once you get to Knoxville on I-40 heading West, look for the signs pointing toward Oak Ridge and Highway 162. Exit 376 Stay on this highway 162 (Pellissippi Parkway) until it turns into Highway 62 WEST. Take Hwy 62 West through Oak Ridge to Oliver Springs. Here is where it might get tricky. When you get to Oliver Springs on 62 West, you will come to a stretch where Highway 61 and 62 run together for a couple miles. You will come to a red light/4 way and Highway 61 South goes straight. Highway 62 West goes to the right. Go right on 62 West again. Stay on 62 almost 5 miles. You will see an old gas station that is for sale on your right. Turn left on Fairview road. You can't miss it then. The school is on the left. The field is right there. LBs is the only place to eat there. See you folks tomorrow.
  10. Got Speed, why in the heck would they want to get on the field before 5 for a 7PM game? That would be crazy. One thing these kids do not want to do is get uptight for a game. Although if Hampton wants to practice all day tomorrow, I say let them. It just sound like more bitching from Hampton in my opinion. I just got word from my Mamaw that they are keeping the field covered tonight. They are supposed to bring in 3 helicopters tomorrow to dry out the field. I know one thing. those boys that work for Boeing need to get back to work. They obviously have too much time on their hands.
  11. Pujo, you are one your way to my town tomorrow night. Be safe. I want you to say you were there to see your team's final game of the season. Be careful. I guess I should have just left off the words, "I've ever seen".
  12. You are the most ignorant thing I have ever seen.
  13. Thats too bad HB1. I hate that for the kid. A player that good is tough to see on the sidelines.
  14. CY, you didn't have to do that. I just meant don't quote me around town. heck I live in Knoxville and know everything that goes on down there. With the Hampton-Coalfield thread on here, I haven't been this excited to go to a game since i played.
