  1. Good win for the Lady Toppers. Sounds like you guys didn't have much trouble. Did Jaimee play a lot? How did Jasmine do? She's really become a force to be reckoned with lately.
  2. TriCitiesSports.com January 11, 2008 BLUFF CITY -- It didn't happen at home against Dobyns-Bennett on Tuesday, but Friday night Holly Nickels topped the 1,000-point mark for her career as she helped Daniel Boone's girls beat Sullivan East, 52-37. Nickels needed just nine points, but scored 14. Megan Caldwell led with 15 and Kaitlin Harmon also added 14 as Boone improved to 12-5 overall and 6-3 in Big 9 play. Kelsey Trivett had 13 for East, now 1-8 and 4-13.
  3. Congrats to Miss Holly Nickels, who scored her 1,000th point Friday night, as her Daniel Boone Lady Trailblazers won on the road at Sullivan East. She now has 1,005. A great player and an even better person. Next up for the Lady Trailblazers is Megan Caldwell, who should reach 1,000 in the next few weeks.
  4. The game to watch tonight will be.................... Daniel Boone @ Sullivan South Boone is scrappy and getting better, but this one is at South and they would love to get revenge against the only team besides Tennessee High to put a league loss on them. Edge to Sullivan South. Next closest game might be............ Science Hill @ Volunteer Science Hill is still very good, and Jaime Hill is almost back to normal, but Volunteer is playing their best ball of the year so far, giving Dobyns-Bennett a tough game last time out. Edge to Science Hill. Don't think this one will be so close.............. Dobyns-Bennett @ David Crockett Crockett has shooters, but not enough for D-B. Edge to Dobyns-Bennett. Blowout of the night..................... Sullivan East @ Tennessee High East stands no chance against TN High, and even less in Viking Hall, where TN High gets every bounce, every roll, and very call. Tennessee High bigtime.
  5. Did I call this one or what? Boone beats East by 15 pts. Caldwell scores 15 pts. Thank you. I will be available to pick your lottery numbers soon....................
  6. Just what I'm seeing on here. Hopefully for the girls, it will all clear up AFTER the season. They have enough to worry about on the floor right now.
  7. Ervin and O'Dell were the ones I was thinking of.
  8. Games for Friday, Jan. 11: Volunteer @ Dobyns-Bennett Volunteer will put up a fight, but the DB posts will be too much. Science Hill @ Sullivan Central After having to go OT to beat East, Science Hill will be ready for the Lady Cougars. Daniel Boone @ Sullivan East East had a good lead on Boone in the first matchup, before Boone clawed their way to the win. East is playing better, but Boone is stinging from the OT loss to D-B, and Megan Caldwell did not play in the first matchup. She will be the difference in this one. Sullivan South @ Tennessee High South won the first one at home, but it's hard to win at Viking Hall. I'm afraid the Lady Vikes get the home-cookin', and the win.
  9. Surprised that game went to OT, but from what I hear, Ms. Jasmine Foster lit it up in the OT. Scored the first 8 pts in a row to start the overtime? Nice job! I heard it was an ankle, hurt in the first game in Florida, that was her first game back, I think. Working her back in slowly.
  10. Throw in Tammy Church at Boone. Played with Beckelheimer and they were about even. I think one led scoring one year, and the other the next. Scholarship to Walters St. basketball/softball, but didn't attend. Did outscore Peck in their last meeting, while causing Peck to foul out. Larkey had the height, but Glass may have had the most skills of anybody I remember around here. Even at ETSU, nobody in the Southern Conference could stop her, the only thing that stopped her was her knees. Who were the other two girls from East who went on to do well?
  11. Good point. In the big 9, the top 5 teams are beating up on each other right now. South beat TN high, Boone beat South, Science Hill beat Boone, Dobyns-Bennett beat Science Hill, and TN High beat Dobyns-Bennett. Round and round we go. It's hard to tell who's going to do what. If South beats TN High again on Friday, they will have a pretty good grip on 1st place. If not, it will depend on who else can beat them as to who's #1. 3 thru 5 is a tossup at this point.
  12. The ones from sullivan county, i'm afraid.........................
  13. Gotta go with coachh17 on this one. Don't know how any of the other matchups have gone, I know Greeneville beat TN High and Science Hill early on. But I know that Daniel Boone has already beaten MoEast and Cherokee, who are 2nd and 3rd right now, and Boone is currently tied for 4th w/Science Hill in district 1.
  14. Fantastic game tonight at Daniel Boone. Dead even tie after 1 period at 9 - 9. Dobyns-Bennett lights it up in the second period, out scoring Boone 20 - 5, to take a 15 pt. lead to the locker room. Second half, Boone starts clawing their way back into the game and ties it on a Megan Caldwell basket with 1.4 seconds left to send it to overtime. A three point basket and several foul shots later, DB hangs on to win it, 50 - 46. Great game. Neither team deserved to lose. What's the report from the other games?
  15. I wouldn't count Science Hill out, yet. They have a softer part of the schedule coming up for the next couple of weeks, and Jaimee Hill will be back. In the meantime, the huge games for next week are Daniel Boone and Dobyns-Bennett on Tuesday, and the Tennessee High and Sullivan South rematch on Friday.
  16. OK, where are the rest of you at? For crying out loud, it's less than you spend eating out ONE TIME for ONE PERSON than it costs to be a member for a WHOLE YEAR! Then you can come on here and talk about the sport or sports that you love YEAR 'ROUND. Quit being so tight, and join us..............
  17. Boone over Central 62 - 48 Boone played pretty well, forced a lot of turnovers, but the ball always seemed to bounce back to Central, or it wouldn't have been that close. Central kept fighting, and made the most of their lucky bounces with some great shooting. What's the story from the rest of the games?
  18. Games on tap for Friday: Dobyns-Bennett at Science Hill: Game of the week, for sure. That 3-way tie for 3rd will turn into a 2-way tie or less after this game, depending on the outcome of........ Sullivan Central at Daniel Boone: Could be a close game, maybe not, it depends on which Boone team and which Central team shows up. Probably a closer game than...... David Crockett at Tennessee High: Crockett will turn the ball over, this one won't be close. One that might be close is........ Sullivan East at Volunteer: I think East will hang around a while, then Volunteer will pull ahead.
  19. For crying out loud, it's less than you spend eating out ONE TIME for ONE PERSON than it costs to be a member for a WHOLE YEAR! Then you can come on here and talk about the sport or sports that you love YEAR 'ROUND. Quit being so tight, and join us..............
  20. You have to match up in a man defense and run full court. Try to helpside on Mainer, but she's going to get hers anyway, so don't let anyone else be the difference. Pressure some, and if any points come from the paint, make sure it's Mainer, not the other big posts. Boone would have beat them if ANYBODY had scored on offense besides Caldwell. Weren't forced into bad shots, just couldn't hit layups...
  21. That's right, I don't know about cheerleading, we have had more cheerleading injuries than basketball injuries this year at our school. Maybe try the chess club.....................................
  22. Good. She's a good kid.
  23. I don't think anyone needs me to tell them how talented a coach Tim Campbell is. His record and history speak for themselves. Jeremy Jenkins is the head football coach, assistant principal, and as talented a coach as any head coach in the area. Danny Good is a non-faculty coach, but he really knows the game, and is a powerful motivator. And Mulett22, you left out Kim Brewer, who is assistant on varsity, and JV head coach. And don't worry, Mulett22, when I give my opinion, as I "always do", it is always right! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> (yeah, right.....) And another thing, don't be fooled into thinking they have less talent. It's just that the system does not usually produce the star player, because it is a "team-oriented" system.
