I plan on this being my last post because my intentions were never to cause dissention, but I need to ask a few questions and make a few observations before I go. Select55 and ysoangry, why ARE you so angry? I don’t guess you read when I said I was obviously kidding about the Lion Posse. I think that they have brought a great atmosphere of support to the program. I’m sure the players and the community appreciate all that the Lions Posse has done. By the way, what is the initiation fee to be one of your coveted members? Is there any hazing? I’m still trying to figure out some new, Greek letters that might be a good fit for you. Ha! Again, I’m kidding. Apparently, you have a problem with our administration. Other than not hiring a football coach on your time schedule, what have they done that is so terrible? From where I’m standing, they are fantastic role models for this community and wonderful family men. I am slightly confused, so please correct me if I misinterpreted this. Select55 says that we could have all of the talent in the world, but without a good coach it’s not going to happen. Then, ysoangry basically says that anyone could have coached and won a State Championship with the talent on Kelley’s baseball team. So, which is it? Is it a good coach or talent? I would think that winning a State Championship in any sport would be spectacular. Tell me, how many have any of you won? It seems that you feel you are better qualified to hire a teacher and a coach than the people who have actually been in the education and coaching field for 20+ years. Duckman38201, are you realistically trying to compare McKenzie’s teams from the last 2 years to their teams from the 9 to 10 years before that? In my previous post, I was referring to the fact that we replaced Milan with Gleason, and if you are trying to put those two teams on the same level talent wise, I can't even entertain that thought. We can all disagree, but at the end of the day, this is about the kids. Are we going to support the program and the kids regardless of who is hired? Community members and parents bashing the administration and a new coach will tear our great program down quicker than anything. The kids will respond to any coach who is supported by everyone 100%. With as much work and effort as you have put into this program, are you really going to quit on it if someone is hired that you didn’t agree with? You act like the administration caused all of this mess, but they didn’t want Keith Hodge to leave. He just had to do what was best for him and his family. So why don’t we all sit back and support the administration, the kids, and the new coach (whoever it may be.) I know that I will always support them. This will be my last novel. Goodnight.

I wasn't aware that you knew all of the applicants and their specific credentials. Please, enlighten us on who specifically has applied, been interviewed, their experience level, and their area of concentration in the classroom.

I am flattered. I can only hope that I am half the person that those two are. They are both highly regarded in my opinion. And ProudLionFan, that's Mr. West or Mr. Frazier to you, son. Support the program, and stop acting like there is only one person who can coach these kids. They have OUTSTANDING talent and they will all do well no matter what.

The first thing I said in my original post is that Keith and Chad Hodge have done an excellent job. I don't have an agenda; I am just stating the facts and some of my opinions. If you want to compare Dresden's schedule from when they were in 2A (before the reclassification) to Dresden's schedule the past 5 years and tell me which is tougher, please do so. Since you are talking about talent, let's compare our opposing teams talent then and now. I will start with your beloved Huntingdon Mustangs: Chris Donald - Tennessee Division 1, Boo Weathers - Carson Newman just to name two. In current years, however, you have the Warbrittons who are great players but are at UTM playing in intermural sports. Westview: Justin Harrell - Tennessee and NFL, Rafeal Hill - Austin Peay?, Marqui Guy - UTM just to name a few. I current years, however, no one. Trenton Peabody: hard to compare because Dresden has only played them twice in recent years. Humbolt: E.J. Epperson - Ole Miss starting fullback, Adriene Donald - Memphis?. In recent years, however, Nick McLilly? McKenzie: Drew Hayes - Mr. Football/Pro. pitcher, Derek Carr - All time leading passer at UTM. In recent years, however, no one. Bruceton: Dresden did not start playing them again until 2009. But which Bruceton teams have been better? The teams from the 90's or their present teams? Union City: Mario Makelrath (sp?)- look up his stats, Lucas Ingram-UTM, Goodwrich (sp?) brothers-MTSU just to name a few. In recent years, however, I honestly don't know. Dresden replaced Milan with Gleason. I could tell you about all of the players from Milan who have gone on from those earlier teams, but we would be here a while. How many from Gleason, West Carroll and Bruceton? The records may flip-flop but the competition is nowhere near the same. Especially, when you go from playing 2A/3A teams each week to playing a few of those teams but replacing most of them with Gleason, West Carroll and Bruceton. (3 basically guaranteed wins) With all of that said, my post was not and never will be about the Hodges. I genuinely believe they are outstanding coaches. My point is that the reclassification is a large part of Dresden's recent success.

You are right, Dresden has been in 1A/2A since this reclassification. However, in the NEW reclassification, there are now 6 classes. In the past, when Dresden was in 2A, there were only 5 classifications. 2A back then (pre-reclassification) is a mixture of 2A and 3A now. Basically, Dresden went from being the smallest school in 2A from 1999-2008 to one of the largest 1A/2A schools from 2009-present. You tell me, do you have a better chance of success as one of the larger schools or smaller schools in a classification? So, the classification 'thing' is a pretty good argument.

Let's be honest, the reason that Dresden has been competitive year in and year out is because of the reclassification. Going from 2A (which is now a mixture of 2A and 3A) to 1A is the single most decisive factor. 4. Does anyone know who is responsible for the reclassification? It just so happens to be the TSSAA. Funny, one of the idiots with no testicular fortitude, is on that board so maybe we should thank him for helping to make us competitive again. 5. The other 2 idiots with no testicular fortitude have 4 State Championships between the two of them. 6. Maybe we should trust the 3 'powers that be', because they obviously know what it takes to be a winning coach. They are more than adequately qualified to make a good decision regarding a coaching change. 7. Before we resort to name-calling, let's count the years of experience any of you have in education. 8. I think it is perfectly acceptable for the 'powers that be' to hire a coach on their time schedule and not yours.

I agree, coaches that try and give their team the best chance to win are stupid. They should just play to the other teams strengths and see what happens.

If Hewett is playing Dresden is probably 5 and 2 right now and this game would be a lot better matchup but without him Dresden does not have anyone on their team who can make a play offensively and have struggled.

Does East Robertson play in a jamboree and if so when and where.

One reason East Robertson outscored Dresden 30-6 in the second half was because Hewett did not play at all in the second half due to cramps. After saying that I still believe ER should not worry to much about Dresden because they lost a lot of staters from a year ago that will be hard to replace.
