  1. Does anyone know the score of the Oak Ridge/ Cleveland game?
  2. Walkenvol, do you know which hospital he's in?
  3. I have no doubt that young Mr. Blairs' half is tough. His dad, Jim was one of my college coaches, and if you can get tough on top through good genes, then he must be a beast. One of the highlights of my freshman year was watching Coach Blair wrestle with DI National Runner up, Charlie Heard at a time when Charlie was absolutely dominating everyone in the country at 118. What a war! I never saw Coach Blair take a step backward. He more than held his own. Coach Blair probably weighed around 140 lbs or so, but more than once he rode me with legs (as a 167 pounder) during practice....geeez! Never forgot the presssure he could apply and learned technique from him that I still teach to my wrestlers today. He's a humble man, but if you talk to him, ask him about the time he took out a potential mugger on the street and held him until the cops arrived! He probably won't admit to it because of humility, but it's a true story. Also can't forget that he defeated the great Billy Martin from OK State in college at a time when Mr. Martin was the #1 man in the country. And best of all, he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Steve Logsdon, BCHS
  4. Please post final score for BCHS vs Sevier and Oak Ridge vs Greeneville. THANKS!
  5. #1 until they lose to a TN team? I don't know that your remark is accurate. Several weeks ago, we were fortunate enough to beat Collins Hill Ga, who had beaten McCallie the week before. I have no doubt that if those results were reversed, we would have fallen 2,3 or 4 spots in the rankings. As far as competition, we're getting plenty. Already have wrestled some tough teams and have not yet wrestled Soddy Daisy, Parkview GA. or the Virginia Duals. We have a lot of work ahead of us.
  6. I don't vote. No one has ever approached me about it and I have never asked. Believe me, there is no offense taken. I have enough on my plate just trying to keep up with my own team. Coach Logsdon, BCHS
  7. Coach Delgado, Coach Turley contacted me at the beginning of this school year regarding Scooter and the State Tournament incident. I assured him that I still consider him and his program to be friends of Bradley wrestling. This incident, while unfortunate, doesn't overshadow the many years of good relationships between our programs. As for our tournament, I told Coach Turley that he and his team were welcome to come back either with or without Scooter. That's between their program and the TSSAA. He elected to not return this year and maybe let things "cool off" for a while longer. While I respect his decision, he and his team have an open invitation to return to the Bradley Invitational as soon as they'd like. Coach Logsdon, BCHS
  8. RMC, I appreciate your reply. I knew that I could not let that single incident change my opinion of Collins Hill. Your post only reinforces my high opinion of your team and its leadership. Let's call this matter forgotten and look forward to a weekend of good wrestling. Thanks, Legman
  9. RMC, I sit here in disbelief after reading your post. While I agree with it, does this not strike you as an incredible double standard? In the finals of the Cleveland Duals last year, we forfeited to your wrestler, Lukacs (sp?). Our varsity wrestler, Jesse Baker had been injured over a week earlier and had sat out the Huntsville Invitational and the previous 5 dual meets. During a post match interview, I was verbally assaulted by daddy Lukacs for not "having the guts to at least throw a JV in there". He didn't "travel all this way to get a forfeit!" Keep in mind that his son is the same wrestler who later defeated John Lane at the McCallie Tourn. Further, in a post by you several days back in regard to the Cleveland Duals, you remarked "if Bradley decides to let someone wrestle Lukacs this year........". Go back and check it yourself. What exactly was that insinuation? At the conclusion of the "discussion", Coach Ramos' only remark to me for his parents' actions was that I should "learn to just ignore people" who get in my face and berate me. What a disappointment. I have a lot of respect for Collins Hill, Cliff Ramos and your program. That is not even an issue. I just couldn't help but ask...Why the double standard?
  10. Can one of the participating coaches let me know what time weigh ins are. I lost my original letter. How about you, Xander? Do you know? Thanks, Coach Logsdon
  11. Coach Lewis, I'm looking forward to the duals as well. Coach Miller does a great job, the refs are usually top-notch and the hospitality room is pretty tasty too! Best of all, good competition and a lot of good wrestling. See you Saturday, Coach Logsdon
  12. RMC, Just a minute. Let me get the hook out of my mouth! C'mon, you guys are as tough as nails and we know it. You beat McEachern, and you beat McCallie who we know are tough themselves. We have a lot of respect for what Coach Ramos and his crew bring to the duals each year and we look forward to a good, tough dual as always. See you Saturday, Coach Logsdon
  13. Interesting and ironic that a person would speak of safety as he himself sits behind his computer, safe from any responsibility for his words. "Logsdon", as you refer to me, stands behind his views. You interested? Of course you're not. Coach Logsdon, BCHS
  14. While surfing through the results of the 2003 GREAT FLORIDIAN IRONMAN Triathlon, I couldn't help but notice the name of one of our own. Seems that Jeff Price drove down to Florida and proved himself to be an Ironman. That's right...Jeff swam 2.4 miles (in ocean water), hopped on his bike and pedaled 112 miles, then jumped off and ran himself a full marathon..26.2 miles!! That totals 140 miles (or 16 hours and 28 minutes) of pure heart and determination. What a Stud ! Way to go, Jeff. "Legman" Logsdon
  15. Not often do we fumble for words on these boards, yet what can be said at a time like this? A tragic loss for all, but especially for family, friends and team... We're very sorry for your loss and will be thinking of you. Bradley Central
  16. That would really disappoint the 20 teams who have been coming to the Bradley Invitational on that same weekend for many years.
  17. Challenge matches for the University of Nebraska and Oklahoma State took place over the last several days. There's some good news from our boys. Rusty Blackmon earned the starting spot at 197 lbs. for OSU. He defeated his first opponent 10-0 and earned his starting position with a 9-4 decision in the finals. Matt Keller defeated a 4X Iowa finalist and 2X State Champion in his first match, then defeated 3 year Senior starter Joey Malia in the finals, 16-13. Kevin Ward won his first match by a 7-3 score, then defeated Johnny Hendricks of Oklahoma in the finals by a 3-1 OT score. Hendricks was a HS National Champion. How 'bout those Tennessee boys ??
  18. Silverbullet, Really appreciate all of the time you spend with your rankings, especially knowing that many people are just licking their chops to rip you apart. While I don't want to join them, just one point. For the record, West wrestled Boyce 3X last season, winning the first and last with the last being a dominant win in the Region Tourn. I remember this because by winning, it threw Jake into the same half bracket with both eventual Champion, Bosken and Willie Furmon from Red Bank at the State Tourn. the next weekend. Keep up the good work. Keep 'em talkin....
  19. Quick update from Tulsa. Quinn fell behind early, but fought back to claim a hard-fought 7-6 finals win over his Missouri opponent. A good tournament win for Quinn and for Tennessee. Legman
  20. Quinn Gibson is spending his Easter break on the mats. He travelled to OK to wrestle in the "Tulsa Folkstyle World Championships". The tournament drew over 1900 competitors in all age divisions. Quinn has four pins in four matches over guys from Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota and North Dakota. He will wrestle in the finals tomorrow afternoon. (ok, so I'm a proud coach....sue me.) Legman
  21. mg, Actually, I'm not even a basketball guy, but a wrestling coach. Just surfing around coacht and ran into this thread. Your posts in particular caught my eye. As a Health and Wellness teacher, I particularly appreciate your comments. As a coach, I appreciate someone who just tells it like it is. If I had a good mark, you'd own it.
  22. I too, was lucky enough to see Phillip wrestle like a champion over the weekend. The only thing that impresses me more than his intensity on the mat is the unassuming manner in which he carries himself off of the mat. He is a true gentleman. From the other end of the Kemper Arena (yes, I was with the Okies...), I watched him at the conclusion of his consolation finals. Just as he did two years earlier at the Senior Nationals in Delaware, Phillip rushed to his family and supporters at the conclusion of his victories to allow them to share in his moment of greatness. It was great just to get to enjoy this moment through my binoculars from afar. Congratulations to this fine man, his family and supporters. Legman
  23. Does anyone know when the 11 and under girls substate will be played in Shelbyville? Thanks!!!!
  24. It looks like bad news. It seems that these two wrestling events are the same weekend. I look forward each year to coaching side by side with my friend, xwristsd. However, it looks like I'll be in Cleveland OH. that weekend with Dustin C. and Michael C. Any word on who else is going to the SR. Natl's? It's too bad that these are scheduled the same weekend. I was really looking forward to being there to watch Team TN. defend that title. Good luck, guys. Legman
  25. Takedown3, While I will keep this short, I'd like to prevent a potential uncomfortable situation. Many weeks, months and years of hard work has gone in to prepare for this weekend. If my guys do well, I'll be pleased. In this moment of acheivement, I will have no desire to talk to any of you. If my guys don't do well, I will be disappointed and I will have no desire to talk to you. Do you see a trend here? I have been anonymously attacked for many years, yet only Gordon Connell and Jim Morgan have actually spoken with me in person. Do not think that you will take this weekend as your opportunity to finally show some courage. Take out Christmas day, and that still leaves you with 361 days to discuss this issue with me. This is a big weekend for many wrestlers across the state. Let this be their weekend. Save your personal agenda for another time. I'm not going anywhere. (Takedown3, still didn't catch your name....) Good luck to all the wrestlers participating, Coach Logsdon
