I was there and saw it comming. It was apparent WC was not mentally ready. Talk was WC had beaten Shelbyville 6 of the past 7 meetings and earlier won at Shelbyville and this was going to be a cake walk. Shelbyville came to make a statement and they did. That being do not ever overlook the Eaglettes. Hassle was totally frustrated and the WC inside game was non existent. WC got behind early. Made several turnovers in Shelbyville's full court press. And when they did get across the 10 sec line it was one pass and someone threw up a 3 point shot. Next stop for WC is at Smyrna and the Lady Bulldogs have a score to settle as well. Have to see how WC regroups.

You make a good point. I believe only ONE out of state team was in the Classic this year. And in my opinion I think Greeneville caught them on the perfect situation. Travel to Greeneville from Florida had to take something out of this team. I do believe some of the calls made were very questionable. Case in point, how many refs are going to make the call against Briarcrest in the last 3 seconds of the game? Come on, that was bush league. It amases me a ref could fall for this. The only way WC could win this game was to set up the player to push off to get position. In 99 out of 100 times that call will not be made. But, in Greeneville is the exception. I congraulate Wilson Central on winning the championship. They made the plays down the stretch to win. Lady Bears were not going to let Hassle beat them inside so they packed in the paint and let Christoper and Burroughs have the wide open 3's and they knocked down 9 between them so thats where the game was won. Its great for our area that we had the 2 teams in the Championship game. Shows how strong girls basketball is in West Wilson County. I noticed where someone made a statement that the South Greene vs. Greeneville matchup would draw more fans than the Championship game. Thats a good point since its obvious those 2 teams are in the area... DUH. I believe if the tournament was held in Mt. Juliet the same could be said if the circumstances were reversed.

Way to go Lady Bears. Great Victory over perennial power Shelbyville. Lady Bears press was a dose of the Eaglettes pressure they used to use back in the hay days. Turnovers and steals led to easy baskets. When Taylor Hall went down in the fourth quarter and laid on the floor there was total silence throughout the entire gym. I believe you could have heard a pin drop. When she finally got up and walked off the court I breathed a sai of relief and later she returned to the game. Game was never really in doubt. There was a chance the "Mercy" rule would go into affect when MJ led by 24 points. I give Shelbyville credit for not quitting and giving up. They did cut the MJ lead to 18.

I'm in a state of Shock. I find it impossible to believe WC with what they had returning this season would even lose a single game. With Jenkins, Hassale, and Williams I would have pounded that ball in the paint every possession. Its amazing they could lose to Antioch after beating them by 15 earlier this season. I guess chemistry might have had something to do with their downfall.

Just got home from watching the game. Riverdale took Shelbyville out to the wood shed Lanning was simply amazing. She is the REAL DEAL. Totally destroyed Shelbyville tonite. Without any question in my mind she is the best point guard in the State. She deserves consideration for Miss Basketball Should be a interesting Region 4-AAA Tournament. Do I see a Riverdale - Shelbyville rematch?

Central just had too much muscle inside for Lady Bears Don't know the stats from the game but I'd bet Central out rebounded Lady Bears by 20+ I thought Van Atta had a good game. She made some tough shots. So, after 2 games its 1 for Lady Bears and 1 for Wilson Central. And oh by the way I do believe MJ is going to be regualr season district champion with a first round bye. Considering the amout of talent both teams had returning I think its incredible MJ wins the regular season championship. Central returning Jenkins, Hassle, and Willians and add in 2 girls from MJ to the starting lineup and of the MJ starting 5 NONE were starting at the end of last season I think its a no brainer on who had done the best coaching job. Congraulations WC on your victory. This could be the second of 3 more contests. Meaning a final match up in the Glass House.....

Hey I just noticed that AP, The Tennessean, Coacht power ratings, and Coacht Fan Poll ALL HAVE MT. JULIET RANKED NUMBER 1. so does this mean they are crazy people to think MJ will make it to State??? Sure the Lady Bears have had some struggles lately against LaVergne, Beech, and Lebanon (tonight). If you knew anything about the team you'll know of the 5 girls starting.... NONE of them were STARTING at the end of last year. And not to make excues but Taylor Hall (the lone starter from last years team) was injured in the 12th. game of the year and is out for the Season. Considering Coach Fryer has used his 5 starters for almost 80% of each game I think its fair to say the girls are beginning to show some signs of fatigue. And I think its difficult having a bullseye on your chest and everyone you play is going to play the best game of their season against you and that is what has happened. Right now MJ is (24-1). And incredible record everything considered. I am proud of the team for what they have conquered so far. It is phennionable. Hopefully they will continue their sucess and make it to State. That in itself would be an INCREDIBLE Feat.

And needless to say I know I'll be lucky to have half of them right. But at least it gives you an idea of the match-ups. Its getting closer and closer. Can't wait till the Tourneys begin.

I agree these are the top 2 teams. But there is a rewarding feeling knowing you won your Regular Season District Championship

"THE GAME" is next Tuesday at Wilson Central. Should be another electrical atmosphere between Lady Bears and Lady Wildcats. I agree WC is playing top of its game right now. But the Top Seed and first round bye belongs to the Lady Bears. Wilson Central would play Hendersonville. I heard Bowman twisted her ankle and she may not play in the game against Lebanon Saturday. Juliet Lady Bears 2005 Class AAA State Champion Wilson Central Lady Wildcats 2006 Class AAA State Chamion Wouldn't it be a perfect ending if these 2 Power Houses played for the 2007 Class AAA Championship.

LaVergne does have alot of athletic talent and they are young. Discpline is their major problem. Lack of it. They could become a big player in the future. Looks like they will end up 6th in the district which they would be matched up either at Smyrna or Wilson Central in the opening round. Tough way to open and it would be a major upset if they got into the 2nd round of the district. Come next year is when we all better get worried.

Exciting game between 2 of the Top 5 Teams in the State. Last 2 minutes of regulatio and the overtime were filled with turnovers by both teams. Wilson Central was terrible from the foul line missing something like 6 of the last 8 shots they took. Congrulations to the Lady Cats. That makes 2 in a row this year and 5 of the last 6. I think Bud Brandon may have to pay property tax in Shelbyville. He seems to own the Eaglettes. Where were the Wilson Central cheerleaders??? Very dissappointing they were not at the game. Why would like not be there supporting the team?

I am a fan of the Lady Bears. I am greatful MJ has a fan as loyal as you are Bates to drive the distance you do to attend the games. One thing we all have as fans is a passion for the game and the success for the Lady Bears program. I also have attended every game the Lady Bears have ever played in the State Tournament. From 1977 all the way to 2005. All I'll say now is... see you at the game Tuesday nite against Hendersonville which will hopefully be Number 60 in a row at the Cave.

I think Lady Bears have a lot of fans that think of themself as the #1 fan. I'd like to consider myself one of those fans. Go Lady Bears ! ! ! ! ! There's no limit to what you can accomplish.....

I am totally stunned. I know Lawrence Co has a good team but I never imagined they could beat Shelbyville at the grill, I guess its still called the grill or did they stop calling it that after the little general left for MTSU? My hats off to the Lady Wildcats. Congraulations. Mt. Juliet had a dog fight at Smyrna winning 62-59. Lady Bears had a 10 point lead late and some questionable calls were made in the frantic late couple minutes. Smyrna is one of the toughest places to go and win on the road. So with these events does this mean Mt. Juliet is now going to be ranked #1 ? I don't know how Mt. Juliet could lose all 5 starters from last years team and beat Wilson Central (with the 3 headed monster returning) and Smyrna (with 3 of their starters returning) Must be great coaching by Chris Fryer. Going to be an exciting lead up to the tournaments

Lady Bears visit Smyrna this friday. 2 of the top 10 teams in State square off. First game at the Cave was all Mt. Juliet. Lady Bears jumped on Smyrna early and coasted to a 22 point win. That was then and this is now. Always a tough place to play at Smyrna. Smyrna has shown alot of improvement over the past month. Earlier they defeated Wilson Central and they are capable of winning this game. If Lady Bears can work their press and force Smyrna into turnovers will be key. Van Atta will have to be shooting better than the Gallatin game from beyond the arc. If Mt. Juliet can win it will most likely lock up the top seed in the district and a opening round bye. Fryer has worked wonders so far and I don't know what he's got cooked up but I'm sure he will have his girls fired up and ready to play. Go Lady Bears

Well ladies and gentlemen I just saw a AWESOME SITE tonite. A gym packed to the rafters 30 minutes before tipoff. #3 Mt. Juliet vs. #4 Wilson Central ENOUGH SAID These two teams have claimed the past 2 Class AAA State Championships The game was INCREDIBLE. Mt. Juliet led almost the entire game. At one time I believe they had a 12 point lead. Chris Fryer is a GENIOUS.... How can a coach lose his 5 starters from the past years team and defeat the Defining STATE CHAMPION with 3 of the top post players returning from last years team? ONE WORD ... TOGETHERNESS The guard play of Bowman and Sharpe was the key. And Van Atta had a GREAT game scoring from inside as well as outside. I'm just guessing but I think she had 7 3point baskets. Wilson Central was overpowering in the paint. They dominated the boards. It wouldn't surprise me if they out rebounded MtJ by 15 or more. Most of WC points were from put backs inside the paint off missed shots. The MtJ press did give WC some problems as they did get points off turnovers. THIS WAS THE 60th straight Victory for the Lady Bears on their HOME FLOOR. I am so proud of this Lady Bear team. They showed heart and determination and TOGETHERNESS..... It amazes me how great they play together. The atmosphere of this game is what High School sports is all about. Two rivals within a few miles of each other. The stands packed and both sides giving great support of their teams Way to Go Lady Bears ................... keep up the great work.
